I will go where I want, and do what I need or want to do, and I will NOT wear a mask. But I am not seeking to get infected. I do use a povodine-iodine nasal spray after being in any group in public. I do not want to take on this virus if I can avoid it. But, since my wife and I have traveled extensively in the SE and western states for the last two years, and eaten in restaurants several times a week the whole time, and never worn masks except in the most mandatory places (rare), I am beginning to wonder if we aren't in the large fraction of people who have had some level of pre-existing immunity. We have taken Vitamin D3 and C before this Wuhan virus, and increased those and added zinc. I don't know why we have remained disease free, but we have.....unless we have had it without any symptoms at all, which is apparently possible. Whatever - not going to TRY to get infected, but not hiding under the bed, either.

The current strain, Omicron, is reportedly as light as a bad cold and could give 'pandemic' ending antibodies. Yeah. I'd go to that bar. Especially for happy hour. I already had Covid. Early December 2020. So, if I got it, likely to be very light.

At the height of Seattle’s racial justice protests in 2020, then-Mayor Jenny Durkan’s administration drafted legislation to transfer the Police Department’s East Precinct building to a Black Lives Matter activist organization and researched relocating the station’s operations, newly released documents show. That June, as cops lobbed tear gas from behind barricades, and protesters on the streets surrounding the precinct called for the Police Department to be defunded, Durkan’s office behind the scenes briefly contemplated handing over the multimillion property that had become the focus of the demonstrations.

Washington Democrats passed a series of anti-police laws pitched as “reimaging” public safety. A Police K-9 from the Seattle Police Department is dead because of it. Perhaps that’s why anti-police activists in Seattle are blaming the cops for the K-9’s death: they don’t want to take responsibility for pushing Democrats to pass such dangerous laws. Seattle most high-profile election this November might well be one that’s often overlooked. One candidate, abolitionist Nicole Thomas-Kennedy, has come under fire in recent weeks for social media posts that go beyond mere abolition and trend toward overt threats of violence against police. (snip) Some of her past tweets defended violence against police. One describes those who committed arson against a city property as “heroes.” Another commends the use of explosives against the East Precinct.

[cartoon] With a disturbingly big spike in gun violence this year, Seattle is beginning to feel like old Dodge City before Wyatt Earp showed up. Tuesday afternoon, a woman was shot during a robbery in the Green Lake neighborhood. (snip) Oh, yeah, that staffing crisis. While more guns have been blazing, the city has seen 300 police officers quit their jobs in the last 18 months. A big share of those departures are certainly related to the drastic cuts in the police budget imposed by the city council majority — reductions that led to the resignation of Seattle’s first Black, female chief, Carmen Best.

Seattle Public Schools (SPS) withheld the religious and medical exemption forms for the COVID-19 vaccination mandate until after the first deadline to get the Moderna vaccine passed. This entire process seems rigged against using exemptions. School staff in Washington must be fully vaccinated by Oct. 18, or they will be terminated. Medical and religious exemptions are supposed to be offered for employees who wish to seek them. But a spokesperson for SPS confirmed that the district hadn’t sent out the forms yet. They are expected to go out this week. By the time staff receive the exemptions, it may be too late to use them.

President Biden said Monday that his administration is committed to improving the border crisis by trying to "figure out" why migrants are leaving their home countries for the U.S. in the first place. "We’re working a lot with neighboring countries. A lot to do," Biden said during a meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris and the National Governors Association (NGA) at the White House. "I think one of the fundamental things we've got to do in addition to some of the changes we'll make, which we won’t get into it today, is that if we figure out why they're leaving in the first place," the president continued.

The US Treasury said on Friday it is considering alternatives to facial-recognition technology to verify identities for online taxpayer accounts after some lawmakers raised privacy concerns.
