The Pentagon has altered the scheduled deployment mission of the aircraft carrier USS Harry S Truman, it's been revealed this week, amid heightened concerns over a potential Russian incursion into eastern Ukraine, which Kiev officials claim is coming at some point in January. Top US commanders have ordered the carrier to stay in the Mediterranean longer than planned."A U.S. carrier strike group is lingering in the Mediterranean Sea rather than journeying to the Middle East on orders from Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, USNI News learned on Tuesday," the US Navy monitoring site reports, based on defense official statements."The schedule change, blessed by Austin, is to reassure European allies

Once again, Europe wrings their hands over Putin, and we provide and pay for their security. It's nothing but a damn bluff anyway. Xiden is not going to go to war with Putin over the Ukraine, and the cowardly Europeans aren't going to lift a finger. NATO is not going to admit the Ukraine. To do so would force war with Russia, with the US doing most of the bleeding. No more. We have bailed out the Europeans twice in the last century. NATO doesn't even have much purpose anymore. Let the EU, which are not our partners but our economic rivals, defend Europe themselves. The Donbass has long been considered to be ethnic Russian. A move to add the Ukraine to NATO would be akin to Hitler annexing Czechoslovakia in Putin's eyes. Ukraine isn't worth another European war where there is no upside for US interests at all.

Do you really think if Biden, who has ended up surrendering everyplace now even against COVID, strikes up a merry tune and asks for volunteers to fight a war with Russia over the future location of the Russia-Ukraine borderline will have any success? Clearly the anti-military leftist and socialist Democrats are not about to allow their young adult family members to enlist in the military to take part in such a misguided military adventure, so Biden would be lucky to pick up enough volunteers to make up one or two LGBTQ mess kit repair battalions to train for combat in Ukraine against the Russian military, and don’t ever believe that the Russian leadership does not recognize that. As far as the Euroweenies are concerned, they will not make a military move, as they know if they do the Russians will turn off the natural gas pipelines this winter causing much of Europe to freeze. Why is the USA worrying about the viability of the Russia-Ukraine borderline when the US Southwest borderline is completely insecure?

Fox, ABC, CNN, AP all reporting Putin has requested phone call with Biden 30 minutes before midnight Moscow time, Thursday, December 30. Interesting to recall that Putin first became president of Russia on New Year’s Eve, 1999. Is he marking the anniversary with invasion?

This is a decision usually made by a President. Is the Pentagon now doing whatever it likes? This is an important decision to be made by the Pentagon without the President having a say. Meanwhile Biden is playing with his puppy in Rehobeth beach

President Joe Biden's inaugural address pledged to "repair our alliances and engage with the world once again." The United States, Biden proclaimed, would "be a strong and trusted partner for peace, progress, and security."This has not happened. Instead, Biden's foreign policy has oscillated between chaos and weakness. The Afghanistan debacle looms largest here. In March, Biden said that when it came to withdrawing U.S. military forces, "We’re going to do so in a safe and orderly way." He explained, "We’re in consultation ... with our allies and partners in how to proceed."That did not happen. Instead, Biden insisted, against military advice

In his novel “Anna Karenina,” Tolstoy writes that “All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.”Something similar can be said about New York City mayors: Successful ones share policies and leadership traits, while the failed ones chart individual paths of doom.Over the last five decades, Gotham has experienced both. The successful mayors — Ed Koch, Rudy Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg — stand tall because they took office in times of crises and turned New York’s fortunes around. They had their warts, but each left the city better off than when he started.
