Democrat Rep. Debbie Dingell grew emotional on Wednesday night over having to leave her hometown of Dearborn, Michigan in order to keep serving in Congress after redistricting swiped her seat ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. For the first time in history, Michigan's new map was drawn by an independent commission rather than political operators. That saw the state's number of House seats drop from 14 to 13, and is forcing Dingell out of the 12th Congressional District she took over from her husband, late longtime Rep. John Dingell.Members of her party are watching nervously as next year's races begin to take shape with 23 less Democrat incumbents --

Delicious. She's a nasty piece of work, and anything that causes her heartburn is good for America. I hope she loses her seat.

Her husband was a complete colostomy bag, and if anything, she is even worse. You stinking commies run everything into the ground, then act surprise when people flee blue states and you lose seats. So - reap the whirlwind.

Its time up for the Dingell political family in Michigan. I hope all these family political dynasties fade away. Murkowski next.

What would be icing on the cake, if she loses the election to a republican.

Sure will be interesting to see how her votes with Piglosi play out in the new district. She isn't running in the Dearborn district cause thats been made a safe quota district. No chance for a white to win. So now she has people that will vote that aren't a safe vote and may resent her recent votes in the House. For once Dingell just might be held accountable for her votes in the House.

A Dingell has held that seat in the House for 100 years.
Time for a change!
Tim Ryan in Ohio, suffering same fate, but he is running for a Senate seat.

Why should she have to move. Maxine Waters doesn't live in her district.

Crocodile tears. She'll just rent an apartment in the district, and pretend it is her primary residence. That's what democrats do. Maxine Waters doesn't even pretend to live in her congressional district.

And this is why term limits won't work. Once the person's time is up, his/her/it's spouse, child, parent, sibling will run in their place.

Don't cry for her, Dearborn. She was never freakin elected; she inherited the seat. How do we keep allowing this crap to happen?

My guess is she won't move, She will BUY a house in Ann Arbor but keep her home in Dearborn and live there! She's not alone, there are lots of folks in Congress who pull this off!

Can't remember the name but when redistricting was done in Michigan back in the 90s, a local GOP rep dropped out. He was popular and a shoo in but would have had to move from his home town to stay in 'his district.'
No Tears.

This showcases the big problem for Democrats. Their constituents are clustered in small geographic areas. Only grotesque Gerrymandering (like in Illinois and Maryland) gets them multiple Congressional seats. The minority representatives can claim they need heavily Democrat areas to guarantee ''fairness''. That leaves other Dems with scraps to fight over.

IIRC, Allen West was redrawn out of his seat in congress as well. He took it like a man and moved on. This gal thought her widow's weeds would protect her. Silly woman.

This is a sordid story. A case of nepotism and corruption throughout the ages in that district.
1. John Dingell Sr.: In congress 1933 - 1955
2. John Dingell Jr.: in congress 1955 - 2015
3. Debbie Dingell: in congress 2015 - ??
4. Ol' Debbie Insley was John Jr's 'secretary' while he was still married to his first wife (they divorced in 1972). I'm guessing at some point Debbie grabbed ahold of his Dingell, and it must have been love.
5. Nearly 90 years of Dingell is ENOUGH, I say!

She could run for the primary in the district she lives in instead of moving to play politically calculated games for her advantage. Right? Crying over moving FROM Dearborn, we are supposed to buy that? That's funny stuff. She doesn't REALLY Live in Dearborn. She is a D.C. critter to the core.

Poor Debbie. She is only in Congress because her husband died and the idiots of Dearborn kept her in the "Dingell" seat.she is a disaster, who like many Democrats, need to find real jobs.

Um, it's not "her" seat. We don't live in the days of feudalism. She serves her constituents, not the other way around. What about all of the people who left Michigan during the great recession, families that were split up for economic reasons? Cry me a river. Either move or run in your "new" district.

Here's a thought. Maybe A)Quit if you no longer live in the district you represent. B) Run in the district you still reside in.
C) Move and don't cry about it if you still want to be in government
Women want to be equal in a work environment traditionally occupied by men, but if things don't go their way they cry or get angry or pout.
Sorry if this seems sexist, but it is what i observe.

2nd post apologies, but. when JFK ran for Congress in 1946 or thereabouts, he rented a walk-up studio apartment in his chosen District.
And he never went there!
And when Bobby ran for the U.S. Senate in 1964, and was challenged as a carpetbagger from Massachusetts, his response was that the Kennedys were NYC residents all along, but vacationed in Massachusetts.

Does anyone truly believe this witch will ditch her 'inherited' mansion to slum it somewhere else? She knows she won't win re-election in a fair fight. In other words, she's really worried she might have to go to work for CNN.
