This sort of thing is happening directly because of liberal policies. That point needs to be driven home by Republicans during the 2022 midterm elections. When you actively move to “defund the police” it means there are less law enforcement officials available. It isn’t rocket science. And now, everybody (especially Democrats) are paying the price. From ABC7: SAN FRANCISCO — Some car owners in the San Francisco Bay Area have been going to great lengths to avoid vehicle break-ins, even if that means risking it all. “I’m shocked,” said former San Francisco Police Department Deputy Chief Garret Tom. “There’s so much that can go wrong here.”

To prevent auto break-ins, don’t live or work in places like SF.

You can always take BART. But then you risk getting mugged at the station.

Even as far back as the 70's, people with convertibles knew it was smarter to leave the doors unlocked than to have to pay for a sliced top from thieves.
In Raleigh, San Francisco, and Atlanta I had jeep windows smashed and tools stolen while at Home Depot, three times in Raleigh... When the cops arrived(within minutes) and asked to view the surveillance camera footage, HD management refused unless they 1st got a warrant.
I called a friend in Calif that was in HD national management and he told me that the Company position was "The Thieves are customers too...and...since I needed new tools immediately to return to work, I would likely have to buy them there anyway"
I no longer buy ANYTHING from the Orange Box.

Sorry, my sympathy meter was checked out and is working fine.....didn't flicker.
Leftists reaping the mayhem and chaos that they elected. Enjoy the choices you made....or perhaps didn't even bother to make. Either way, we don't have that here in suburban and rural Kansas. Certainly not crime free, but our police still arrest people, courts hold them in jail and then prosecutors try them, and if guilty, they spend a bunch of time in a prison, not bothering us honest citizens any more.
Try it. You'll like it.

So we are caving to the criminals. Here, take my stuff, it’s ok, I will just have to replace it. This is idiocy. This is liberals. This is Nancy Pelosi, Gavin Newsome, London Breed, Chesa Boudin, Bill DeBlasio, ad nauseum. Just remember, the above names are not affected in the least by this lawlessness. Not a bit.

Why don't you leave the keys? Maybe set up a drive up handoff location.

Before we left CA, several years ago, we often found homeless persons would break into our cars just to sleep, not taking anything, but really stinking up the space.

Urban liberals have always depended on the mercy of criminals. Sane people don't.

There are places in Atlanta, GA where cars are broken into each night. Apartments where you have to park in a lot. Breaking into a car in GA is a misdemeanor and the little brats doing it are juveniles so it a waste of time to take them to juvenile court. My car in the Atlanta area spends the night in my garage and has never been broken into. Would like someone to invent an electrical charge for the body of cars which could only be deactivated by the owner's cell phone.

However, if they do not find enough loot, they will break the windows (or worse) anyway, similar to "muggers" if you don't have enough cash on you .. to send a "message" or just for spite.

I think #18 has the solution...just like leaving a 'bomb' for the wankers that were stealing packages off door steps...I remember one video of a box of doggie poo exploding in the perps car...

I doubt insurance companies will pay off on any claims especially is car owners leave their cars perfectly open for anyone to steal anything or even damage the automobile.
