A Tale of Two Cities: Kenosha vs. Waukesha

Original Article

Posted By: Imright, 11/29/2021 10:28:08 AM

Both Wisconsin towns, Kenosha, and Waukesha, about 50 miles apart by car, were the recent sites of multiple deaths. The violence in both made national news. Yet in contradictory ways both reflected the common themes of America’s current legal, media, and societal corruption. The relevant public prosecutors in both were in the news for alleged ideological bias. Specifically, they habitually calibrated the charging, indicting, and trying (or not) of defendants through ideological lenses and community pressure rather than on the basis of the facts and the law.

Professor Hanson has clearly identified problems in the judicial system. All law schools teach the Alfred Dreyfus case with his evenutal exoneration led by EmileZola. Truth and justice seem to have little meanng nowadays to prosecutors interested in political gain. Mr. Rittenhouse could have easily become another Dreyfus at the hand of a corrupt (and incompetent) prosecutor). This prosecution could almost be labeled treason against the Constitution. A jury saw this evil for what it was. Suppose this case had been tried in Portland or San Francisco. Prison for Mr. Rittenhouse!

". . . a commentary on the abject implosion of the American justice system" which had a just ending for one and, hopefully, for the other as well. (Dr. Hanson always sees the forest and the trees.)

FTA: "So, the Left understood well the messaging of attacking the open city and undefended town of Kenosha and the conviction of a “murderer” Rittenhouse: accept our political agendas and premises or otherwise your culpable community will be torn apart with impunity, and any who chose to combat the violence with violence will be charged with capital crimes." Hanson using an interesting term here, "open city," which is a war time term meaning that a city has abandoned any defensive efforts, allowing take-over and occupation by foreign troops and/or insurgents as a mechanism to avoid total destruction by its attackers. That pretty well describes not only Kenosha but most large, blue cities in 2021, although the attackers are by and large domestic criminals, home-grown communists, and racial anarchists. In 1940, Paris and Brussels were declared open cities to prevent their total destruction by the invading Nazis. Applying the term to various democrat run American cities in 2021 is apt but extremely distressing in that the American people have not organized and carried out a major pushback against the insurgents. After all, every layer of government, from precincts, townships, cities, counties, states and federal is Constitutionally a creature of the people, who have abdicated their power to the totalitarians of the left.

I have been to both cities, having grown up in the state and went to college about 40 miles or so from each city. Kenosha was a blue-collar, working person's town. American Motors/Jeep/Rambler was the major employer until Chrysler bought them out and closed up the shop. I think Snap-on Tools still comes out of Kenosha. Like many industrial cities (such as my home town about 150 miles to the north along the Lake), a lot of the industry has gone away and the town is trying to re-define itself. Still, a good solid community. Waukesha is a bustling community, leading a number of affulent suburbs just west of Milwaukee. GE Healthcare has a large presence there and it's one of those towns where you want to raise a family. Many friends who live or lived near the city (including a couple former city aldermen, since deceased). Sadly, Kenosha has fallen to the idiocy of the left as Chicago and Milwaukee agitators are happy to take the reins. Waukesha may be a longer hold out.

Everything has gone so terribly wrong for the Biden Administration, and in the ways that were widely predicted, that it is hard to believe Joe Biden could be perceived as a successful or at least potentially successful president if only he had avoided being such a tool of the Democratic extreme Left. On the afternoon of his inauguration, he killed the Keystone XL Pipeline and curtailed fracking and offshore oil and gas exploration, and ordered the end of construction of the southern border wall. The consequences have been over 200,000 illegal migrants entering the United States across the southern border most months and the rise in the price of gasoline

So far, more than triple the amount of Democrats (18 total) have decided to officially call it quits on the House and have left their seats open for a fight, giving Republicans a chance to gain another seat since House Republicans
