It has been a long time coming. But that is how reckonings sometimes happen. The fabulist behind the discredited anti-Trump dossier was taken into custody by federal authorities Thursday as Special Counsel John Durham continues to build his case against those who manufactured and propagated the phony Trump-Russia collusion narrative. Igor Danchenko was charged in a criminal indictment with five counts of lying to the FBI about the sources he used for the bogus information he delivered to former British spy Christopher Steele that comprised the bulk of his dossier. But we already know a great deal about the man who was hired by the disgraced Steele to smear

This would not have happened if Hillary Clinton and her close advisors did not create the bogus Russia hoax game plan, and hire a crew of Democrat lawyers and others, some of them foreigners, to pursue the dirty trick Russia hoax to sabotage and destroy Trump and his Republican Administration from the get go, knowing that the Congressional Democrats, some wimpy Republicans, and the DC insider super bureaucrats would support that corrupt partisan effort. If a legitimate Durham investigation shows that, the conspirators must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law with the Congressional Democrats who played a support role being thrown out of office by way of the next election. If not, such political dirty tricks that amount to criminal conspiracies designed to sabotage future Presidential Administrations and that are bound cost the taxpayers tens of millions of dollars, will become a common way of life in DC partisan politics designed to fool the American public into electing corrupt governments on into the future.

"Real Time" host Bill Maher ended his final show of the year by challenging Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., to appear on a future telecast. During his closing monologue, Maher attempted to point Democrats in the "right direction" following their devastating defeats in the November elections ahead of the 2022 midterms. He cited commentary from veteran Democratic strategist James Carville, who blamed his party's losses on "stupid wokeness," a view that Ocasio-Cortez rejected, claiming the term is "almost exclusively used by older people these days … so that should tell you all you need to know."

It’s incredible to think that just eleven months ago, Democrats were celebrating unified control of government for the first time in more than a decade. They had lost seats in the House but still managed to hang on to the gavel, Joe Biden had secured the White House, and two runoff elections in Georgia handed the party the slimmest of majorities in the Senate. It was a narrow victory to be sure, but they were jubilant nonetheless. Less than one year in, however, almost everyone agrees that the Democratic Party is in freefall. As a litany of crises induced by ill-advised policies sweep the country,

President Biden's massive $1.75 trillion spending bill would drop a component of the child tax credit program that could lead to billions in payouts to illegal immigrants. Tucked away on page 1,647 of the Build Back Better Act, the Democrats' social spending package, is a provision that would repeal the Social Security number requirement to obtain child tax credits. This change would expand child tax credits to parents of illegal immigrants who don't have Social Security numbers.

The mood across the country is palpable. While it’s a totally unfamiliar feeling to some, it’s a feeling that many older Americans never wanted to have again. It’s dreary and uncertain, like a system of dark clouds has parked itself over the country.  I’ve been around long enough to remember the so-called misery index from the Jimmy Carter presidency during the late 1970s. At the time, the misery index was simply the rate of inflation added to the rate of unemployment. But to a country searching for its national identity and a return to peace and prosperity after the assassinations of the 1960s, Watergate and the Vietnam War, it meant

The US Consumer Inflation Report for October was horrible, showing a 12% annualized rate of price change. But it’s even worse than it looks. The shelter component of the index lags the more reliable private gauges of rent inflation. That means worse is to come. Three US companies publish national rent indexes – CoreLogic, Zillow and Apartmentlist.com – and their readings of year-on-year rent inflation range from 9% to 16%. But the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reports a year-on-year rise in the rents of just 3.4%. Shelter represents a third of household expenditures according to the Consumer Price Index.

In researching my 2020 book, Unmasking Obama, I focused on one question above all others: What did Barack Obama know about the plot to link Donald Trump to Russia and when he did he know it? Unlike the Watergate era, when all the insiders in government and media rushed to discover what Nixon knew, only the outsiders have dared to ask about Obama. Major credit here goes to Rep. Devin Nunes and his chief investigator Kash Patel, Inspector General Michael Horowitz, former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, and most recently Special Counsel John Durham. For all their good efforts, however, this probe remains very much a work in progress.

The relationship between Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and their respective staffs has been on rocky ground for months. As RedState previously reported, the vice president and her camp have complained about being abandoned, even blaming racism as a possible factor, while the White House has fretted at Harris’ sheer incompetence and inability to garner support on her own. Those tensions have led to lots of speculation about what exactly happens in 2024. Harris is clearly a terrible candidate, something she showed during the 2020 presidential primary, but she’s also the heir apparent until Democrats forcibly remove her from that position.
