Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is warning the Republican Party that staying in former President Donald Trump’s thrall will not lead to a viable political future.
The Lexington Herald-Leader obtained a preview of Peril, the upcoming book from Bob Woodward and Robert Costa that has already produced a multitude of explosive details on Trump’s last days in office. According to the new excerpt, McConnell is encouraging the GOP to move away from Trumpism, calling the ex-president “a fading brand. Retired. OTTB as they say in Kentucky — off-the-track Thoroughbred.”
“There is a clear trend moving,” McConnell said. “Sucking up to Donald Trump is not a strategy that works.”

I was unsure of Trump in 16 so I didn't vote for him. (No, I absolutely would never vote for anyone like Hillary).
But he proved himself and I gladly voted for him in 20.
Mitch, on the other hand... if he was on my ballot, no, I would not check his box. He's proved he is unworthy of my vote and just enjoys DC politics and power games. He has no core beliefs or philosophy and couldn't care less about this country.

I bet it just kills people like Mitch, in Washington, when they see Trump hold a Rally and Twenty or Thirty Thousand people flood to see him! THAT is proof that Mitch can shinny up a stick. If we want to back Trump, we will. We don't need Mitch to TELL us who is worthy and who is not! Kiss my Grits Mitch!

It’s articles like this that make me so glad I’m an independent MAGA Patriot. I really don’t know how anyone could associate themselves with the Republican Party. Come on Man! Look where it got Trump. They wanted him gone and didn’t care what the cost was. GOP: Gutless Old Pathetic

#7. Trump (MAGA) is a Republican. National political parties are big tents, like it or not. The MAGA Patriot Party would have a hard time winning a state legislative seat.

It’s really a simple matter of contrasts. Here you have McConnell a swamp rat of the highest order versus President Trump an outsider who accomplished more in four years than McConnell has done his entire career. McConnell like most Republicans tolerate their constituents. They focus on getting re-elected but don’t really care what kind of life the tax payer lives. Trump, however, focused on the American people and did the best for the country. He is so far and above in both integrity and willingness to do what is right for the country that McConnell cannot relate, he can only condemn. If Mitch shows his face in public, I bet he will get an earful. Americans are not stupid. We know he is a snake in the grass with only one loyalty, himself.

If Trump is so useless and such a faded brand then why do insist on getting involved in other states' Senate races, Mitch? You're actively involved in trying to defeat Hershel Walker's Senate race in Georgia. Is it because you think getting enough Trump supporters in the Senate or House threaten your cozy, chummy Senate gig and all your perks? Just mind the business of our state Mitch. And BTW don't count on my vote anymore.

78 year old Mitch is the one who is fading. Who does he think can lead the Republicans out of this mess he helped create? Does he plan to run for President? This should be Mitch's last hurrah. I would hope, but don't expect, that if the Republicans retake the Senate, they will elect a better majority leader.

Mitch, if you’ve got a better idea I’m listening. I’ve never heard you say it. Of course age will reduce and ultimately remove Trump from the field. But Trump’s brand doesn’t start with “Trump”- it starts with a republican form of representative government, freedom (as articulated over centuries), and preserving the knowledge and institutions of those principles. You seem willing to negotiate with arsonists for just a medium sized fire. Maybe you’re right, that the dims want to burn it down again like they did in the 1860s and we should simply try to delay the conflagration.
What’s your plan, mitch? After all these years why don’t i know what your wonderful plan is?

The Turtle.
One of the reasons that I REFUSE to support the 'Republican Party'.
I support specific CANDIDATES like Trump, Jim Jordan, Louis Ghomert, Tom Cotton. MTG.
but The Turtle? Pierre Delecto? Tub-'O-Lard Christie? Murkowski?...... NEVER!

Shoot the messenger all you want, #24. I personally think Woodward is a hack myself. But this same book revealed the treason of Medals Milley, who later confirmed what the book said himself.
Woodward may be a puke communist with a poison pen, but once in a while even a blind squirrel finds a nut.

AT LEAST half are corrupt, and like blood brothers and drinking buddies who PROTECT each other for fear of what another might reveal about them! Fake Republican and head RINO Cocaine Mitch is one of the most compromised.
HE hated ANYONE who might call him out, or take away some attention away from him due to his hubris-- and out country is much WORSE OFF because of him and his "deals"!

The rest of you vipers left in the snake pit called Washington can bloviate all you wish but you will never be worth anything with dumb statements like that you old China snake.

MItch loves the Republicans being the permanent minority party in this country.
That way, he doesn't have to actually do any work, but and his Republi-Can't cronies still get to line their pockets with billions of dollars.
Sadly, this nation is already lost and on it's death spiral. I am in my 60's, so I probably won't live to see the inevitable end. But I cry for my children...

If Trump goes, I go as well. The only difference between voting for the globalist GOPe wing of the Republican party and the socialist Dems is the speed at which they drive towards hell in a handbasket. Like the difference between driving 100 mph and 120 mph.
