A House committee investigating former President Trump's finances is entitled to some but not all of his tax records, a federal judge ruled on Wednesday, delivering a blow to his efforts to keep them private. It represents the latest twist in a complex web of court cases in a years long battle to force Trump to release his tax returns. U.S. District Court Judge Amit Mehta approved a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee subpoena obliging Trump's accountants Mazars to hand over documents from 2017 to 2018. But he turned down most of the panel’s request for information dating back to 2011.

Why are they entitled to anything? After all, the man is a private citizen.

The Rats continue to perpetuate their fantasy that they're going to uncover that elusive W-2 from Putin to Trump for services rendered.

Horseshit. If Trump was taking money from foreign sources, do you think he would be stupid enough to put it on his f'n tax form? Given that Trump has business interests all over the world, what do they think they are going to find?
When they tried to get the records before, it was supposedly to help them formulate tax policy or some nonsense. Now we find out its a fishing expedition for foreign payments. Did he declare them on the line that says "Influence Peddling from Foreign Governments"? GMAFB.
While we are on the subject of foreign cash, how much did Obozo take in 2008 and 2012 through his campaign? I have seen estimates north of half a billion each election cycle. FEC did dick to run that down, even though there was credible evidence both times that he was taking massive donations by credit card from foreign donors - a clear violation of election law.
Crickets.

This isn't really about Trump. This is a warning to other populists of what will happen to them if they even try to run for office.

The "Oversight" has stepped into the role of prosecutor, not oversight. If this was legitimate, the IRS would have audited his returns through normal processes, and a referral would have been made to the DOJ, if something was wrong. Oversight may review aggregated data, but not individual tax returns. The Judge erred, and this suit should be thrown out.

Any one of us has just as much right to see those Democrat "lawmakers" records as they have to see President Trump's.

Exactly. #11. Let's apply the same scrutiny to every Congressman, every Senator, every Governor and state official, every district attorney, and every judge. We have the same right to know.
Bet if this level a transparency were ever applied, you would find a lot of people doing some really nasty things under the covers. You would need a LOT of rope.

They will get the records. They will not make them public out of their "bold sense of fairness" but rather will make statements about them that they found many illegal things. The only recourse Trump has is to make the records completely public in order to reveal that they were lying. But that reveals how much he makes on his business deals. And for any future deals the dealers will use that info to cut Trump's profit to the bone.

If they want to talk about foreign payments, the Oval Office is a short trip away.
