During an unhinged speech on Wednesday in Philadelphia, President Joe Biden implied that Confederate soldiers were better people than the Trump supporters at the January 6th riot because not even the “confederates” during the Civil War “never breached the Capitol.”The comments from Biden came when he accused Republicans of attempting to “suppress and subvert the right to vote” with voter security laws.“There’s an unfolding assault taking place in America today, an attempt to suppress and subvert the right to vote in fair and free elections, an assault on democracy, an assault on liberty, and assault on who we are,

If this clod knew anything about history at all, he would know that the Confederates who were much more ably led in the early stages of the war came close to DC on a number of occasions. Lincoln was so concerned that he kept a steamer on constant standby to escape if needed. One of the main reasons the Confederacy never seriously attacked later was that the defenses of DC were quite strong, and that Lee and other recognized that the losses weren't worth the risk. Jubal Early did try the northern defenses around Fort Stevens but retreated due to overwhelming defensive strength. The comparison is completely stupid, but not surprising from this blithering idiot.

The left really, really loves the Civil War as a reference .And now the confederate soldiers are good people. Their generals, not so much. It's their statues that have been destroyed by perpetually offended left. When you're always lying it's hard for the liar to keep track of all the lies. When you tell the truth , it never varies.

Jubal Early and the boys certainly tried to “breach the Capitol” in 1864. Got close enough to pot at Abe Lincoln. But, being so nice, they up and departed.

Re: #3 - I respectfully submit that the Confederates never wanted to take DC. After 1st Manassas (Bull Run to the Union) the path to DC was wide open but there was little to no desire to attack DC or conquer territory in the North. Sharpsburg (Antietam to the Union) and Gettysburg were the two serious battles fought on Union soil, as the bulk of the Civil War battles were in the South with the Confederates mostly playing defense.

Apparently, Joe Hung Low forgets that the democrats formed the Confederate Army to fight the Civil War to maintain slavery as a state's rights issue. Almost twice as many Union Army soldiers died to end slavery as Confederate soldiers. Pick a fight somewhere else you dumbarse muthereffer.

The confederates were trying to get to Harrisburg PA. There were skirmishes around the area here. They occupied Mechanicsburg PA (for one day). The people of Columbia PA burned down their only bridge over the Susquehanna River to stop the advancing confederates. Then, the confederates went to Gettysburg for their battle. I guess Gettysburg was picked because it was a good place a national park.

The left uses the Civil War because revisionists have changed the meaning of the war and made it a good vs. evil scenario, which it wasn't. It was much more complex than that. Sure, slavery is evil and many in the South wanted to continue the practice. But most Southerners didn't own slaves and were NOT fighting to keep slavery (as the revisionists would have everyone think). The war was about economics and the states that wanted to secede from the union to have more autonomy to self-govern with less oppressive policies from the North. The North had just as many bigots as the South. Most Confederate soldiers were fighting for their homes--not for slavery. Just because some Southerners had slaves doesn't mean all Southerners supported slavery. The bigots in the South, including the slaveholders and slavery proponents, did not make up the entire confederacy...In fact, they were not even a majority, but they were powerful and had a lot of political clout and influence.

A majority of American fourth- and eighth-graders can’t read or do math at grade level, according to the Education Department. And that assessment is from 2019, before the learning losses from pandemic school closures. Whenever someone asks me about critical race theory, that statistic comes to mind. What’s the priority, teaching math and reading, or turning elementary schools into social-justice boot camps? Given that black and Hispanic students are more likely to be lagging academically, it’s a question that anyone professing to care deeply about social inequality might consider.

If this is Joe Biden when he’s forceful and passionate, the country is better off with the passive and detached version. The president gave a thunderous address in Philadelphia on Tuesday denouncing alleged Republican voter suppression. Playing on the darkest fears of Democrats and layering on the adjectival overkill, Biden blatantly distorted Republican state-level election laws in a frankly demagogic speech.Biden rightly excoriated former President Donald Trump, if not by name, for his conduct since the election. ROME — Pope Francis cracked down Friday on the spread of the old Latin Mass, reversing one of Pope Benedict XVI’s signature decisions in a major challenge to traditionalist Catholics who immediately decried it as an attack on the ancient liturgy. Francis reimposed restrictions on celebrating the Latin Mass that Benedict relaxed in 2007. The pontiff said he was taking action because Benedict’s reform had become a source of division in the church and been used as a tool by Catholics opposed to the Second Vatican Council, the 1960s meetings that modernized the liturgy. Francis issued a new law requiring individual bishops to approve celebrations of the old Mass
