Drivers could face $9 to $23 in fees to drive into parts of Manhattan as soon as late 2023, according to the MTA’s congestion pricing plan that’ll be unveiled Wednesday. The amounts and timeline were detailed in a 34-page summary of the project’s much-delayed environmental review, which was provided to reporters by the cash-strapped agency Tuesday. “The tremendous detail included in this assessment makes clear the widespread benefits that would result from central business district tolling,” said MTA chief Janno Lieber in a statement. “Bottom line: this is good for the environment, good for public transit and good for New York and the region.”

The Bien Peasant Re-education Program marches on. Now get out of the way of your elites! Democrat Politicians and the Politburo are exempt because everything they do is 'official business.

My wealthy investment advisor nephew moved out of Manhattan about 12 years ago, couldn't stand it any more, move to rural NJ, built a beautiful home there in the country. Now he has moved again, to South Carolina, and is loving that even more. His financial job can be done from anywhere, and he has given up on the hell that is the NY-NJ area. Raising his kids elsewhere.

Another clever aspect of this, as would be expected, is that city vehicles (and politicians, etc) either will not be assessed the fees, or the fees will be passed along to the taxpayer, further draining their pockets.

Just another reason (if you needed more) to never go there...

Can't wait to see how the restaurants, bars, and theatre's in those areas will be affected. How far are people willing to walk if they park blocks away from where they want to go? NYC is destroying itself from the inside out.

How much more can government take from the people before there's nothing left? I will say this, the most dangerous man in the world is the man that has nothing left to lose. The U.S. Government is now creating an entire country of people with nothing left to lose. One lone wolf is dangerous. An entire country of lone wolves will decimate the ruling class. The guillotines will need daily sharpening.

Morons don’t realize that NO ONE is joy ridding in Manhattan. They are going to work. They have paid a toll to get in, 20% parking tax (yeah taxing a car for getting off the street makes sense.) and a temporary surcharge on their registration that was temporary when they put it on in 1976. Then there is the cat and mouse game with the meter maids if you are lucky enough to find a meter and get back before your hour is up.
And the fools don’t think that this congestion charge will not be reflected in the price of everything.
What’s the difference between a traffic jam and traffic calming? A two million dollar study.

Several years ago - - among my inner circle - - we created the perfect slogan for New York tourism - - - -
"FU - - Come Again!"
And the commies who run the city - - continue to deliver on our creation.

How will businesses survive when suppliers refuse to deliver to this area?
UPS? USPS? FedEx? Lyft? Uber?

James Burke ( look up a TV series called Connections - circa 1980 ) once called
Manhattan 'a technological island that can neither feed, nor clothe, nor shelter itself nor
provide in ANY WAY for the basic needs of its population'.
This is still true today and if the 'expense' of going into the city for ANY reason is too much -
DON'T GO IN.
The lesson will be learned in under a week. Guaranteed.
Unless, it is implemented correctly - at first, the fee's are not THAT BAD, it'll all be OK !
Then, over time, the expense will grow until one day, someone will say -
'how the $%^&*() did we GET HERE ?'
Answer - same way we got to excessive taxes, rules, regulations, laws, CONTROL by our
betters, etc. etc. etc. One day at a time, one infringement at a time, one new intrusion
at a time, at a rate just slow enough so that NOBODY ever said S T O P !!!

This should speed up the exit from NY, already a rush. That should free up the traffic in NY.

More people will leave.
"Escape from New York" is now a real life plan, not just a fictional movie.

Manhattan is an island which means it is surrounded by water and has a breeze he majority of the time. Air pollution is the least of their problems there. They need to fix the crime and garbage issues and leave drivers alone. How do they expect delivery trucks to provide essential goods if they keep charging more an more fees. Cut the employees generous benefits. They don't do anything anyway. Nobody would miss them.

We'll extract every last penny from your pocket, and you'll like it. The streets cleared of the unwashed masses so the 0.1% Masters of the Universe can glide by unimpeded in their limousines, just as our Soviet spiritual forefathers did with their highway Zil lanes, reserved for party members. How much more of this will the people take? The world may never know.
