Two passengers on the first 'fully-vaccinated' cruise from the US have tested positive for coronavirus during the Caribbean voyage. Cruise operator Royal Caribbean said on Thursday that two guests on its Celebrity Millennium ship had tested positive but are asymptomatic and currently in isolation.
The guests, who were sharing a room, are being monitored by the company's medical team, the cruise operator said. They tested positive during end-of-cruise testing, carried out three days before returning to the US.(Snip)All passengers were required to show proof of vaccination before boarding the cruise in addition to a negative test taken within 72 hours before departure from

This is hardly surprising. Could it be that the tests are not perfect?

They tested positive for a 'virus' after 45-50 cycles.
More proof that the 'cases' number is purely political and subject to way too many false positives.

They are asymptomatic and should NEVER have been tested as there is virtually no risk to others even if the test is (doubtfully) correct.

As a fan of the cruise vlogger niche I watched for this with great interest after yesterday's round of "we're going cruising!" episodes.
I think it has great scientific value. It's a petri dish case study for why life should go back to normal. Because the net result will be -- drama and nothing of substance. No hospitalizations. No deaths. No reason for my government to be regulating every aspect of daily life.

This is serious. I recommend to prevent further spread of the virus, the attack sub USS Texas move in and sink her. Problem solved.

The left is never going to let the covid scamdemic die. It was too useful to them. They will just ramp it up again for the next election cycle so that they can justify continuing their vote-fraud-by-mail scheme.

For crying out loud - COVID-19 is NOT the Black Death.

excessive pcr amplification (more than 20X) can show a positive for Kung Flu.
But the pcr test is not appropriate as a diagnostic tool.

FTA: From Jim Walker, Cruise Law News blog..."ships making Caribbean port stops could spread Covid to islands lacking the vaccine access enjoyed by the US - 'although quite frankly,' he added, 'very few cruise lines seem to express concern about that potential.' And cruise lovers 'don't really seem to care if they infect people in the Bahamas or throughout the Caribbean.' 'It's so reckless and dangerous and irresponsible,' he said."
Nothing prevents the Bahamas or any other destination to bar ships from arriving given these "concerns". And note, this cruise originated and will end at St. Maarten, not Florida, Texas or the USA.

Cruise ships used to put warning signs out before boarding about the risk from hepatitis. It appears Covid is much more serious - or so they say.

Hubby and I are Avid Cruisers. We are waiting to see how this whole Florida thing shake out. We live in FL and love that we only need to drive a few hours to Board our Cruise Ship. I don't understand why DeSantis is being so stubborn. Of course we will only cruise if everyone shows proof of vaccination. If he doesn't carve out something to allow those Cruise Ships to Dock in Miami or Canaveral our state is going to loose millions. It doesn't make any sense. Those in charge of the Ships should be allowed to do what 80% or their Passengers want them to do, and that is to make sure ALL aboard that Ship have been vaccinated.

My wife and I are looking forward to getting back to cruising, probably within the year. Glad to see there'll probably be a lot fewer leftists on board. And Kudos to Governor DeSantis, in spite of his being slammed in the article.

The tests are not accurate. They never have been. John Rahm the pro golfer tested positive last week for Covid and had to drop out of a tournament he was leading by six stokes. It probably cost him 1.5 million dollars. Problem is, he took three tests and the other two were negative. Rahm had Covid last fall and was out of action for about a month. He already had the antibodies in him which most doctors will tell you is more effective than any vaccine.

Not sure about this. For one thing I don’t trust the tests. Another is what “proof of vaccination” was required? Lots of forgeries appearing now. Maybe they verified the “proof” after the positive test or maybe they didn’t. I can see people who love cruising but scared of the vaccine cutting a few corners to get aboard.

Fully vaccinated, 2 are asymptomatic and feeling fine... and? Just proves life can go on without all the nonsense.
The reason they were tested was as a readmittance requirement to get back into their disembarkation port St Maarten.
As for the quoted opportunistic ambulance chasers from "Cruise Law News" their reputation among the knowledgeable cruise public is lower than snake spit. Shake down artists.
The reason DeSantis is sticking to his guns in the principle and the precedent. This is a slippery slope. No quarter given to those who wish to divide us through coercion and threats. Reveal your health status or... what... no job, no home, no freedom? Our civil rights and our childrens' safety are more important than senior citizens' right to sip iced tea in the lido. And I say this as an avid cruiser.

Sure. Maybe it's a super-duper new variant. Couldn't possibly be that the vaccines don't work, even when all precautions are taken as in this instance.
