The republic of Texas held a premier boxing match Saturday night, and freedom broke out …At least, that’s how it looked in the tweet Texas Governor Greg Abbott sent out to Twitter followers around 12:30 a.m. Central time on Sunday morning.Abbott’s greetings became the top trending tweet about the event, and it barely mentioned the WBO super middleweight unification fight held inside Arlington, Texas’ AT& T Stadium Saturday night between major draw Canelo Alvarez and his opponent Billy Joe Saunders — save including the hashtag #alvarezsaunders,

Mayor de Blasio is refusing to allow a group of military veterans to march on Staten Island on Memorial Day — after welcoming public pot smokers to puff their way down Broadway in last week’s Cannabis Parade.“It’s a slap in the face,” Jamie Gonzalez, 57, a Marine infantryman who saw combat in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm, told The Post.Gulf War vets like Gonzalez were set to be given special honors in Staten Island’s 102nd annual Memorial Day Parade this year to mark the 1991 conflict’s 30th anniversary — until the city pulled the plug.

A large out-of-control Chinese rocket has come down in the Indian Ocean. Remnants of the rocket landed west of the Maldives archipelago, Chinese state media said, ending days of speculation of where the Long March 5B rocket might land. The odds of the spacecraft landing on a populated area of the earth were low, and the likelihood of injuries were even lower, according to engineers. The potential debris zone could have been as far north as New York, and as far south as Chile, scientists said.

The establishment media’s fixation on Donald Trump before and after his astonishing 2016 victory over failed presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton has sustained itself post-presidency.The media on Saturday compiled the following headlines on their webpages to illustrate the fixation:CNN: The ‘headache’ Trump left behind for Biden on the White House lawn -
Trump Organization must turn over documents to NY attorney general, judge rules - Fact-checking Trump’s call with Georgia’s secretary of state - Trump probably can’t pardon himself. He may still try

A bipartisan police reform bill being negotiated by a small group of House and Senate members is gaining some momentum and may be introduced sometime later this month. But numerous sticking points remain to be hashed out and the whole process may fall apart before the bill even gets introduced. In truth, it’s a modest proposal. The negotiators have reached an agreement on provisions that would prevent the Pentagon from selling equipment to local police departments, ban the use of chokeholds, and severely restrict no-knock warrants. Still at issue is the contentious issue of prosecuting individuals and the liability of individual police officers.

Mother's Day is a beautiful celebration of life and motherhood, and we in the pro-life movement should take this day as an opportunity to focus on how our movement supports mothers. A report by the Charlotte Lozier Institute powerfully quantifies the impact of pregnancy care centers across America by using data to demonstrate how these centers help women from all walks of life. Those who serve at these centers care for women like Amber, who found out she was pregnant days after turning 21 while attending college. She initially scheduled an appointment with an abortion clinic but felt led in a different direction. Thankfully, she found the Hope Center,

How the Brits Did It -Here’s why American conservatives should pay attention to the recent special election in Hartlepool, United Kingdom: The British Conservative Party has modernized and mobilized itself to win a parliamentary constituency that the Labour Party had held for nearly 60 years; indeed, the Conservative candidate won the seat on May 7 by more than 23 points. Now that’s a story worth paying attention to, with an eye toward our replicating it here. The parallels between American conservatives and British conservatives are strong and more recently even stronger, as the two parties have taken a populist, pro-worker, anti-globalist turn.

Democrats are terrified of Ron DeSantis, whose national profile has been elevated by his performance as the nation’s best governor. The Florida Republican has become the national model for the successful management of the COVID crisis without destroying his state’s economy and respecting civil liberties at the same time. This of course has earned him the contempt of his unscrupulous opponents and their allies in the media whose specialty is the smear campaign. Now, the activist left is buzzing over a newly launched hit piece published by Politico. The basis of Politico’s report is that a number of whiny former staffers have gone on record

Samantha Bee recently admitted she lets politics invade her “comedy.”It’s the worst kept secret in Hollywood, a rule that virtually every mainstream comic follows in our deeply divided culture. It’s why Saturday Night Live won’t lay a glove on President Joe Biden and Stephen Colbert would rather take on the MyPillow guy than a president holding “kids in cages.” Now, Bee wants us to trust her on one of the more divisive topics of the modern era.“Full Frontal Wants to Take Your Guns,” to air at 10:30 p.m. EST May 12,

President Joe Biden will hold a meeting next week with six GOP senators as he looks to build bipartisan support for his sweeping American Jobs Plan, the $2.25 trillion “infrastructure” package that Republicans have thus far panned as too pricey and packed with spending unrelated to fixing the nation’s roads and bridges.A White House official told reporters Friday that Biden will meet Thursday with Sens. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Pat Toomey (R-Pa.), and Roger Wicker (R-Miss.).“The president appreciates their engagement and the ongoing dialogue on this high priority, and is looking forward to speaking with the group,”
