MLB’s favorability rating plummets

Major League Baseball has suffered a massive loss in popularity among Republicans due to its intervention on the side of Democrats in the political dispute over Georgia’s voting law. According to a poll by Morning Consult, MLB’s net favorability rating (the difference between the percentage of those who view the sport positively and those who view it negatively) among Republicans has dropped from 47 points to 12 points in the past month. Until commissioner Rob Manfred moved the all-star game, MLB was the big-time sports league viewed most favorably by Republicans. Now, it is viewed less favorably than the NFL and the NHL.

In the wake of the police shootings of Daunte Wright and Adam Toledo, protests have begun to routinely devolve into rioting, looting, and general violence and destruction. Earlier in the week, we saw violent outbursts in Minneapolis. Heading into the weekend, things had also gotten worse in places like Portland, Chicago, and Washington D.C. In fact, these recent, disturbing videos show Antifa terrorists trapping and attacking police officers in the nation’s capital. The first tweet brings up a good point. Where is the National Guard? We were assured they were in Washington D.C. to keep the peace.
Is the Ammo Shortage Over? 9 replies

There was a prolonged ammunition shortage during the Obama administration. I got through that one because a Power Line reader lined me up with a dealer in West Virginia who seemed to have an endless supply of 9 mm. and .22LR rounds. Over the last year, another ammo shortage has struck, caused in part by an influx of new gun buyers who are responding to rising crime rates, attacks on law enforcement, and the election of Joe Biden. As with most shortages, it has been accentuated by hoarding: whenever a shooter saw boxes of a popular caliber on the shelves, he would buy them all. For quite a while

There is something strange about the behavior of Biden and the Democrats that can be best explained by a combination of Progressive mania and panic that their power might well slip away from them unless they lock it down by changing the rules in their favor and whipping up paranoia within key minority groups who are showing signs of slipping away. Hence the relentless charges of racism. Some items: “Democrats Are Anxious About 2022 — and 2024,” Thomas Edsall wrote in the New York Times last month: In the wake of the 2020 election, Democratic strategists are worried — very worried — about the future of the Hispanic vote. Ron DeSantis continues to trigger the libs, and it’s not just because he’s really good at owning them. They can’t stand the fact that he beat one of their supposed future stars in Andrew Gillum, and they hate him even more for defying their COVID hysteria and producing results that bested all the comparatively populated blue states. In fact, Florida sits at 28th in the country in COVID deaths per one million, a mark that is simply amazing when you consider the state has the second-largest vulnerable, elderly population in the country. Today, DeSantis continued his crusade against the hysterical among us, delivering a message to vaccinated Americans

Georgians adopted voter-integrity measures supported by a large majority of Americans, that are in the mainstream of state regulation and in fact are less stringent than the rules in Delaware, President Joe Biden’s home state, and New York. By more than a 2-1 margin, Americans think such rules are not unfair or discriminatory. Nonetheless, these measures have produced an unprecedented effort by large corporations to interfere in the workings of a democratic government. Major League Baseball moved its All-Star Game out of (majority-black) Atlanta to (majority-white) Denver in protest. Coca-Cola’s president weighed in against the changes. With all this push for Hollywood “diversity” one often wonders if Hollywood has a vendetta against traditional standards of movie making. According to one insider, that’s exactly the case for at least one major studio. Sci-fi author Nick Cole, co-author of the Galaxy’s Edge series, claimed that during a pitch meeting, a major Hollywood studio passed on a recent project he had been working on, citing the fact that they’re done producing content for “White, Christian, Trash.” Oh wow, that’s a hell of a way to say it. Perhaps this is the sentiment underlying Hollywood’s spate of inclusivity-over-everything pledges they’ve made in the past few years.

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) said Thursday he will not renew the state's mask mandate, and will let it expire on Friday. "We'll continue to work with public health to encourage social distancing and wearing of masks when appropriate. That will not change whatsoever. What does change is the government's imposed requirement to do so," Sununu said during a press conference. New Hampshire is the first state in New England to lift its mask mandate, which has been in place since November. Sununu said that private businesses, cities, towns, and organizations may continue to keep mask mandates in place.

On Friday, Japanese Prime Minister Joshihide Suga became the first world leader to visit the Biden White House. These visits help set the tone for an administration. How did this happen? How did the nation go in an instant from disbelieving every utterance of Donald Trump to robotically repeating — and acting on — every claim that falls out of Joe Biden’s mouth, no matter how disconnected from the truth? The most glaring example involves Biden’s fact-challenged tirade against Georgia’s new voting law. At his first and only press conference, Biden declared the state’s efforts to protect against voter fraud were worse than Jim Crow, “un-American,” “sick,” and “despicable.” (This was the same press conference where moments later Biden bragged about how much time he’s spent with China’s genocidal communist dictator before calling him “a smart, smart guy.”)

Japanese Prime Minister Joshihide Suga was the first world leader to visit the White House since Biden’s installation, and the poor form began with no-one greeting the head of the Japanese government upon arrival. When you consider the leftist narrative about stopping Asian hate, there is a rather ironic aspect to this visit and snub.
