Radical New Rules for Post-America

There are 10 new ideas that are changing America, maybe permanently. 1) Money is a construct. It can be created from thin air. Annual deficits and aggregate national debt no longer matter much. Prior presidents ran up huge annual deficits. But at least there were some concessions that the money was real and had to be paid back. Not now. (Snip) 2) Laws are not necessarily binding anymore. Joe Biden took an oath to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed.” But he has willfully rendered federal immigration laws null and void. Some rioters are prosecuted for violating federal laws, others not so much. Arrests, prosecutions, and trials are

The Barbarians have breached the gates. Sweet Reason is now only for the rubes and those who fail to see the beauty of looting, rioting and arson. Whites must grovel and apologize....even though it will never suffice.

Money has been a construct since Nixon dumped the gold standard to pay for LBJ's Vietnam. Its numbers programmed to lose value by around 3% a year to fuel growth. Dubya and his Fed took manipulation to new heights to overheat the housing market, until it burst into flames and the "reckless" lenders could be blamed. Obama did his damage...and then the Trillions in stimulus...and here we are. What is a dollar worth?

A trendy coffee company financially backed by the Duchess of Sussex has imported tons of a key ingredient from a Chinese supplier based in a brutal police state where an alleged genocide is taking place. Boring politicians are brought down in boring ways. But for spectacular politicians, only spectacular attacks will do. And Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz is nothing if not spectacular. On Tuesday, The New York Times reported that Gaetz is under investigation for a possible sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl. To make the claims even spicier, the Times threw in words like “human trafficking.” Representative Matt Gaetz, Republican of Florida and a close ally of former President Donald J. Trump, is being investigated by the Justice Department over whether he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old and paid for her to travel with him, according to three people briefed on the matter.

In his first White House press conference last month, Joe Biden needed a cheat sheet and marked photos of approved reporters. The Delaware Democrat thus invites a comparison to Franklin Delano Roosevelt who, many Americans still believe, was fully able-bodied and a tower of strength during World War II. Hugh Gregory Gallagher challenged that perception in FDR’s Splendid Deception, which carried the subtitle, “The moving story of Roosevelt’s massive disability—and the intense efforts to conceal it from the public.” In 1920, FDR was the Democratic candidate for vice president under James Cox. WASHINGTON — As President Joe Biden preaches patience but acts with urgency, his vision of the powers of the Oval Office is quickly taking shape, modeled after Democratic predecessors who dramatically expanded the reach of government to confront generational crises. In a recent meeting with historians and in private conversations with advisers, Biden looked to the examples set by Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson as he aims to use the levers of executive authority to create opportunities and break down barriers. Unlike Roosevelt and Johnson, who enjoyed formidable Democratic majorities in Congress, Biden has had to operate with a no-margin-for-error edge in fiercely partisan Washington.CORRECTION*

WASHINGTON — If America is dominated by car culture and the call of the open road, there is a big reason for that: Over the past 65 years, the United States has spent nearly $10 trillion in public funds on highways and roads and just one-quarter of that on subways, buses and passenger rail. But President Joe Biden’s $2 trillion infrastructure plan, unveiled this week, represents one of the most ambitious efforts yet to challenge the centrality of the automobile in American life, by proposing to tilt federal spending far more toward public transportation and coax more people out of

A bipartisan group of lawmakers is warning that the national debt –– now estimated to total $85,210 per person –– poses an imminent threat, especially if interest rates spike. The U.S. government has spent around $6 trillion during the coronavirus pandemic, in addition to regular government appropriations. The $6 trillion figure does not count the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan that President Biden signed a few weeks ago. The deficit set a record in FY2020 at $3.13 trillion. Until very recently, it would have been hard to imagine anything more iconic of American life than Coca Cola and baseball. Today both remind me of Benito Mussolini’s corporatist – aka, fascist -- game of merging of state and corporate power. The CEOs of these operations should hang their heads in shame and fire their public-relations teams. So should the CEOs of Delta and American Airlines, Black Rock, Cisco, American Express, and American Airlines, who have promoted President Biden’s false assertions that tightening election procedures to bring them back into line -- and in accord with those of civilized Western governments elsewhere -- is racist voter suppression.
