Americans are being told to wait until it is their turn to get a coronavirus vaccine while wealthy Mexicans are heading north to the United States to get vaccinated. In Mexico, only five percent of citizens have been vaccinated and the wait time is lengthy. Taxpayer-funded National Public Radio (NPR) reported on what the leftwing media outlet called “the quest for shots.” According to Carrie Kahn, an NPR journalist stationed in Mexico: David Gutiérrez Inzunza, a Baja California state public health official in the Mexican border city of Tijuana, said the state has been hit hard by the coronavirus. Wealthy Mexicans have been coming to the United States for many, many decades. When we lived in San Diego, I was a supporter/auxiliry member for the San Diego Childrens Hospital. The wealthy, who lived in places like Chapultepec Heights section of Tijuana, were great supporters of all of the hospitals. They also supported all of the cultural events and facilities. They paid for their treatment. To them, it was more than worthwhile. In London about the same time, the best hospitals were full of Arab royalty...

Can we tell a baby’s gender at birth? After untold millennia of human experience — and the emergence of “gender reveal party” industry to the contrary — CNN’s news section informs us that we should believe them rather than our own lying eyes. In a report on South Dakota governor Kristi Noem’s executive order barring transgendered biological males from competing in women’s sports, Devan Cole insists that telling “gender identity” is impossible at birth: Though the two executive orders signed by Noem do not explicitly mention transgender athletes, they reference the supposed harms of the participation of “males” in women’s athletics — an echo of the transphobic claim

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Supreme Court struck down Democratic Gov. Tony Evers’ statewide mask mandate Wednesday, stripping the governor of one of his last remaining tools to curb large-scale spread of COVID-19 as the state stands on the precipice of another surge in infections. The conservative-leaning court ruled 4-3 that Evers violated state law by unilaterally issuing multiple emergency orders to extend the mandate for months. The court found Evers needed legislative approval to issue more orders after the initial 60-day mandate he issued in August expired. “The question in this case is not whether the governor acted wisely; it is whether he acted lawfully.

Great news, but with a couple of caveats. In a release this morning, Pfizer declared that a trial involving 2,000 children between ages 12 and 15 showed its vaccine to be 100% effective against COVID-19 infections. That’s an even better rate than its previous Phase 3 trials among adults, in an environment with more variants in the mix to boot. With the FDA already allowing Pfizer vaccinations at 16 years and up, the news could touch off the next phase of the battle to end the pandemic — with middle and high schools as the battlegrounds. So what’s the catch?

As our Managing Editor Jennifer Van Laar reported, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) has been the subject of an inquiry by the US Department of Justice into whether he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl and paid for her to travel with him. Three people who had been briefed on the matter told the New York Times that investigators are examining whether Gaetz violated federal sex trafficking laws, the people said. Thanks to the New York Times spilling the tea, it looks like Gaetz-Gate is underway. Expect the miniscule Biden Border coverage to drop underneath the Rio Grande. I am no fan of Matt Gaetz,

The New York Times is running with a story that claims “the Justice Department is said to be” “inquiring” into an “unclear” report that it’s “possible” Florida Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz was involved with a 17-year-old girl two years ago. Having sex with a minor is serious business and should be punished. No charges have been brought against the congressman. In fact, it’s “unclear,” to use the NYT’s word, whether it even rises to an “investigation.” Forgive us if we’re a bit skeptical of the same news outfits that “reported” planned leaks that Trump was a Russian secret agent who hired hookers

Actress Gina Carano lost her job with Disney’s The Mandalorian for warning against the Nazi-like dehumanization of others and the awful places that can lead. Former Democrat Sen. Heidi Heitkamp recently smeared Carano as both a “Nazi” and as someone who hangs around “white supremacists” during a segment on Bill Maher’s Real Time show. Carano noticed, and called Heitkamp out on Twitter. Democrats have been getting away with such smears for years now, decades. They called all Republican presidents in my lifetime either Nazis or racists or some variation on that theme, including Ronald Reagan and both Bushes. While dishonest and despicable, those insults targeted political figures.

Hours after the New York Times broke a story on the Justice Department investigating sex trafficking allegations against Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fl.), Gaetz appeared on Fox News’ Tucker to refute the claims. Asked about the story by Tucker Carlos, Gaetz says “It is a horrible allegation, and it is a lie.” Gaetz reiterated claims made on Twitter and elsewhere that the allegations stem from a former Justice Department official who was attempting to blackmail him. That official, who Gaetz named as “David McGee,” contacted Gaetz’s father, according to the Republican House member. Gaetz says his family went to the local FBI in Florida, who then asked his father to wear a wire

Ivey spokeswoman Gina Maiola said Monday that we are moving towards personal responsibility and not government mandates. President Joe Biden and a top health official on Monday appealed for mask requirements and other restrictions to be maintained or restored to stave off a “fourth surge” of COVID-19. Alabama has kept a mask mandate in place longer than surrounding states, but Ivey has made clear it will not be extended.

A curious news blip rolled across Twitter today, from YouTube. Why would YouTube do this? The current system replaced YouTube’s old 5-star rating system some years ago — in 2009. That’s when the thumbs up/thumbs down system came into being. Fictional Big Bang Theory character Sheldon Cooper confessed that the change stressed him out, but most humans didn’t care much one way or the other. YouTube’s thumbs up/down system has been in place for about a dozen years. People use these ratings to decide whether to watch or skip a video probably millions of times a day. It’s especially helpful for instructional videos and product ratings

CEO Ed Bastian offered his assessment of the new Georgia law in a memo sent to employees less than a week after Delta officials joined other corporate lobbyists to shape the final version of a sweeping measure that could make it harder for some Georgia citizens to cast ballots.
