Why would Texas have prepared for record cold
and snow if they listened to the media and other
global warming fanatics the last forty years?

Since 1980 Americans have heard that the Earth was warming rapidly, that the South would not have winters anymore and we would see “the end of snow.”
We were told it is the “scientific consensus” and the science was “settled.” So why the heck would politicians prepare for something when they were told by "experts" that it would never happen?
Clearly the UN, Al Gore, John Kerry, Bill Gates and all the others that push this garbage on the public, without scientific data to support it, are to blame, not the Texas politicians.

Because the Illogicon Democrats have an out because "unusually cold weather is the result of 'climate change' distortion of weather". So is unusually hot weather, unusually wet weather, unusually dry weather, etc...

Not buying it. Politicians, utilities, and homeowners know damn well it can get cold here. Even as far south to San Antonio there have been snowstorms, freezing rain, etc. If any veteran has been on maneuvers at Fort Hood, they sure as h3ll can tell you about the cold in Texas. Global warming propaganda may, I stress may get traction during the summer, but then reality hits in the winter. Just like the overbearing and jobs killing response to Covid, the lackluster emergency prep for natural disasters falls squarely on the leadership of several agencies and the seemingly non-existent Tx legislature. While I agree homeowners are responsible for preparing there are upper echelon responsibilities beyond their expertise. Heads should roll; not just resign to spend more time with the family.

There is no ''settled science'' regarding climate change. The only thing settled is the fact that we have been lied to and misled by proponents of the lie, who have a vast financial and political stake in perpetuating the lie. Also, of course, the gullible people who believe everything the read in the newspaper!

So, maybe Texas should sue the heck out of Al Gore, John Kerry and Bill Gates. "Hey, you're the experts and you told us we wouldn't have any more winters. What's up with -2 F at the DFW airport and 4 inches of ice and snow?"

I don’t live in Texas but I do sympathize with #3. Not a single prediction made by the climate alarmists over the last 50 years has actually come to pass. What a great track record. Not to mention that the same “scientists” who tell us that global warming is real also tell us that human chromosomes are “fluid”. The powers that be in Texas should have ignored the “scientists”.
I also remember the winter of 1996 when Texas and the entire southeast was hit by huge ice storms. A member of our extended family had died in Virginia and the funeral had to be postponed because all of our relatives in Florida and Texas were iced in.

From what I've heard and read, it was a Canadian company that was responsible for all of this so called renewable energy stuff, with no backup to provide power in just such a situation as this. So as I see it, the one area of Texas run by the socialists is Austin the capitol of Texas. The politicians in Austin awarded this contract to build and maintain an unreliable source of power with no backup. The silver lining in all of this, is that this ten percent of renewable energy that failed will not be increased to eleven percent, and that back up power will be built incase this ever happens again.

There is a fact ignored here( fancy that ) Plugs ordered green nilihistic regs into effect by EO on his first day .by Fiat he required nat’l gas to comply with lo emissions regs etc .Literally he shut the valve off and death ensued .The Powerline site has the regs & results clearly laid out and the dead frozen finger points to ol joe stolen “of red siberia “

Before 1980 the talk was about the coming ice age, based on actual paleological record. I took this storm seriously and prepared the best I could. We folks in the Houston area should be a little experienced at preparedness after all the hurricanes and weather warnings the last few years. Always keep handy drinking water, peanut butter and canned food like tuna, candles, garden solar lights can be brought in for temporary light, and plastic totes with water for washing and flushing toilets, and keep an attitude that any number of scenarios are possible.

It got so cold because Biden fixed the global warming problem by shutting down the pipelines and rejoining the Paris Accord. See... He's that good.

I recall Paul Erlich's late '60s Population Bomb prediction. I cannot believe that moron is still funded at Stanford. In my 70+ years I have found truth in Sinatra's song Cycles "...things keep runnin' in cycles, first there's laughter , then those tears."

Joy Behar had the answer last week. She carefully explained why a state that is hot 99% of the time should have invested millions of dollars in heating devices for it's energy infrastructure. I guess the wind turbines should have been using their own energy to keep themselves warm. Wait, maybe using solar power under the gray skies and falling snow could have warmed the wind turbines. This science stuff is so confusing. I think back to Katrina where a city that is hot and muggy 99% of the time and they built some dams, levees and seawalls to fight against hurricanes but also lost the battle. Stuff happens. Climate happens. One hundred percent conversion to electric cars would have only made the Texas storm worse. There should be a law against having fools in prominent positions but there isn't enough space to lock them all up.

Did you notice how many of the hysterical, fraudulent claims were made by NASA "scientist" James Hansen?
The last I knew - - Hansen had made over $20 million - - lecturing about global warming - - which is why I always refer to it as Gullible Warming.
Fool me once - - shame on you. Fool me twice - - shame on me. Fool me 2,144 times - - I'm a freaking idiot! And that's what anyone who believes these corrupt con men is.

Exactly right! Yet the greenies pushing the wind farms and solar, along with the glowbull warming garbage will never admit that they are the root cause of this whole disaster. When the WH press secretary tried to blame coal and NG for the failure in Texas, I just about fell out of my chair in shock at her epic stupidity. Frozen windmills don't produce power Jen, unlike coal and NG which don't freeze up.

Personally, I think any governor who brings in Windmills should be voted out of office for being just plain Stupid. Any farmer, from years ago, can tell you the Windmill that stood by the Barn was great as long as the WIND would Blow. If it didn't, you were screwed in many different ways! My grandpa, on the Farm, had one. I thought if was there for decoration. I soon found out differently as I got a bit older!

It wasn't just windmills that failed. One of their nuclear plants tripped offline due to an erroneous coolant flow warning. The Biden regime wouldn't allow the TX utilities to exceed their 'green' emissions limits for even a few days. Gas fired plants also went down as did some of the natural gas supply equipment. TX has only 2 interties with other power grids (by design/law) so they couldn't import power. It seems that everything went wrong at once to remind us of our hubris.
