US Capitol police officers were “betrayed” by their bosses, who left rank-and-file cops poorly equipped to handle the storming of the Capitol building — and weren’t told the violence was expected, the department’s union chief said Wednesday.Nearly 140 cops were either physically injured or emotionally traumatized in the Jan. 6 assault, US Capitol Police Labor Committee Chairman Gus Papathanasiou said.“I have officers who were not issued helmets prior to the attack who have sustained brain injuries,” he said in a statement, according to a report in The Hill.“One officer has two cracked ribs and two smashed spinal discs,” he said. “One officer is going to lose his eye,

Emotionally traumatized? It must have been the social workers shift that day.

Are U.S. Capitol police officers incapable of making any decisions on their own, protecting themselves, anticipating difficulties, and planning to deal with them? The department union chief seems very passive and inactive in any area, other than demanding more leave and pay for members. I understand there are 25,000 or so Capitol police. That seems a lot of redundancy. And millions to in budget. We got nothing, so why all the expenses, all paid for nothing. I have noticed government ran activities never do get anything done, never have enough resources, no matter how much the funding. What I saw from Capitol police defending the Capitol were people that would not even stand in front of the doors, instead watching Antifa crash through.

To set up Trump supporters a few cops needed to be set up as well. What's the big deal with that, they have been doing that since.....good Lord when did it all start? George Floyd, Mickey Brown, Trevon Martin.....

Okay, Papathanook, what's the name of the officer who killed Ashli Babbit? Other than a couple of brave Cap Police who shot James Hodgkinson after he rifled Steve Scalise (who are probably out of the service for firing their weapons!), most of the uniformed people I saw on Jan 6 looked like the donut patrol.

Emotional traumatized? They are Police Officers, not Girl Scout Leaders. Just a way to get free time off.

Gus thank the democrats by starting with Pelosi. They were the planners so don't point fingers at Trump supporters that was Antifa and their knockoffs.

The JD & FBI warned the sergeant of arms in the house & senate , they said they did not want a military presence sooooo someone messed up...& they blamed Trump! My guess someone is covering for McConnell & Nancy. They were way to quick to blame Trump before the facts & have an instant impeachment.....

The preceding descriptions of the union are apt. They are little more than door monitors and general patrol officers on the lookout for litter and animal waste. The top cops on call to fix things for Members of Congress and Senators who get tangled in one imbroglio or another with area law enforcement.
The key thing to remember is that the USCP takes its orders from the Police Board, the two Sergeants at Arms and the Architect of the Capitol. The SAAs are actually the chief law enforcement officials on the Hill. The Board is closely in tune with leadership of each chamber - their plum jobs depend on that. They do virtually nothing without express authorization.
10,000 insurrectionists...sounds like a punk rock band.

I seem to recall an article that stated that the decision to not reinforce the police was made specifically by Botox Nancy the Crypt-keeper, and Chuck the Schmuck, the shameless Liar.

Shouldn't have enabled the corrupt support of Antifa in the first place then CapPolice. But if the officers were sent into the fray without proper gear, shame on the CapPolice. Given the creature who is Chief right now, I would say she needs a vote of no confidence then a firing.

Are troublemakers supposed to schedule their activities through the security office? The very nature of a security force is to be ready always to respond to trouble. Has Congress contracted with Snowflake Security, or something?

AWWWW. Emotionally traumatized. Poor babies. Perhaps they can get a binkie and a nice fuzzy blanket and take a nap and it will all be OK.
What a load of BS.
Who murdered Ashli Babbitt?
