Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced Monday that a power-sharing agreement in the Senate no longer needs to stipulate that the filibuster rule remain intact after two Senate Democrats confirmed they would not support abolishing it.“I’m glad that two Senate Democrats confirmed they will not vote to end the legislative filibuster,” McConnell stated. “They agree with President Biden and me on protecting the Senate. With this win, we can move forward with a 50-50 power-sharing agreement built on the 2001 precedent”:(Tweet) The filibuster, a rule that requires three-fifths of the Senate, or 60 votes, to close debate on major legislation, had become a point of contention

mcconnell knows that, in fact, you don't "power share" with demcoms, you concede power to them and they mete our a semblance of power in return. he couldn't be a happier fellow right now, he gets plenty of fried rice at home and plenty of pork at work.

They can make all the agreements they want. No one trusts the political class. After 2020, we know they are nothing but corrupt self-serving weasels playing fast and loose with the Constitution in order to secure their power and enable themselves to become wealthy at the tax payer’s expense. Washington DC is a cesspool of graft, corruption and anti-American zealots. No thinking person should ever trust these fools.

One thing for sure... there is one thing Republicans are good at achieving...caving to dems. Hey Mitch.. How many Trump's nominees were held up by Schumer for years???? Trump never was allowed to have a full staff, he had to appoint acting to get the job done, but he did the job!!! Very well!!!!!

Why is McConnell still in charge of anything? He should be on permanent latrine duty somewhere....

This is a "power sharing" agreement between Chuck Schumer, Democrat, and Mitch McConnell, Chamber of Commerce. Republican voters can expect no better from McConnell than they got when he was majority leader and mooned us with the Defense Reauthorization and Covid Relief bills. McConnel must go or each of the Republican Senators who enable him must go until McConnell is gone. Period.

In two years, with HR1 and with the further tweaking of Dominion controlling all elections from DC and counting all votes, they'll be able to get rid of power sharing and the filibuster. Then, in February, 2023, Weekend at Bernie's will be replaced with Kamigula for ten more years of pure evil Marxism. Venezuela ain't got nuthin' on us.

Hopefully this means that HR1 is dead and that the Dems won't be able to raise taxes astronomically.

This is simply another Democrat show. The two 'Rats were 'allowed' to oppose this publicly to protect their flanks at home. If the chips are down they will turn in a flash. We have seen all this before.

Thanks, Mitch. You keep your power and we continue to lose ours. You are more concerned about the Senate than the country.

Historically, whenever the Senate has been neatly divided like it is now, a single senator can set about being the kingmaker on ALL major issues.... simply by flipping here, and then there, unless his or her demands are meant.
This is where the Gang of 7 came in ~ and the Gang of 8 ~ the Gang of 5, the Gang ..... etc.
But first, just one senator proved the power of one by noting she was NOT in favor of eliminating the filibuster.
That's the gang of 41 who can vote against cloture and continue debate ..... which is usually thought of by the MSM as 60 votes to invoke cloture and bring debate to just another 30 hours.
I prefer debate continue in all cases when the criminal Schumer has any authority in the Senate!

Schumer got his way, and agreed to nothing. McConnell caved, and is covering by saying 2 Democrats "said" they would not vote for eliminating the fillibuster. The Democrat Senators will do what Schumer tells them, or they will be removed from the committee assignments, bribed, blackmailed, Antifa'ed, demonized, ostracized, or purged. And we are left with a deal with the devil, which to the extent it is in writing, will be interpreted by the Democrats using their vocabulary, which is unknown to historical usages.

I am confused. If democrats don’t have the votes to eliminate filibuster, why did McConnell have to cave on this issue?

This was all decided behind closed doors...WE the people are not stupid.... WE know the fake impeachment trial is unconstitutional and it is only in place because the DC establishment wanted the fake news to keep OUR eyes off all the real outrage... the signing of OUR rights away in the Oval Office...and nervous nancy is keeping control by having 5000 troops in DC... just in case there's an uprising... it's easy to figure out their game plan...the transgender order was done because the establishment wants one group pitted against another... hoping for a civil war so she can mobilize the troops nationwide....

Mitch is comfortable being the republican minority leader.
His true loyalty is to the uni-party and he can enjoy not dealing with the pressure of being top dog in the senate.

Shouldn't the Congress now be called the Demokratic Peoples' Politburo? All the auto-signing of stacks of edicts. The show trials. Party heads taking the role of Supreme Court justices. C'mon man! This is full-on Soviet. Say your real name.

This is great news. No statehood for D.C. and Puerto Rico, for starters, which Chuck Shumer promised to do. Senator Manchin knows that voting to trash the filibuster would ruin his career, as the new senator from Arizona knows.
I was, frankly, terrified by the potential loss of the filibuster, and this maintains a modicum of slow deliberation in the senate, which is that body´s purpose.

I can't believe this passed. Because the dems have probably used the filibuster more tha the republicans. It surprises me a few democrats can think.

I would guess that Mitch cut his deal with the democrats long before the election. He may be a turtle but he's of the poisonous variety.
