Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said in a tweet Monday night that he will not authorize the deployment of the Texas National Guard to Washington, D.C. again if the troops are going to be disrespected.Responding to a Washington Post article on the Pentagon was vetting National Guard members tapped to help with security on Inauguration Day for extremist ties, the Republican governor called it “the most offensive thing I’ve ever heard.”In effect, with an assist from the FBI, the 25,000-plus soldiers deployed to DC in a show of force are being submitted to background checks — essentially a political purity test– to ensure that they are not an inside threat

Why did you send ANY Texas National Guard to DC Governor Abbott? Do you just do stupid things every now and then to appeal to the racist democrats - the party of slavery and the KKK?

Why couldn’t he say “no” start with? There is a precedence, when the blue state governors said no to Trump??

Bull scheise Abbott. Grow a pair today and call them home now. Telling us you'll grow a pair between now and some hypothetical future event tells nothing other than perhaps that there is a need for said growth.

I really like Greg Abbott. He is a terrific governor, IMO. The implication that there’d be “extremists” among the Guards sent to DC to protect this old fool is sickening. Another old fool, Steve Cohen, instigated it, but others acted on it.

Who ordered the troops to Washington? If it was President Trump then I can understand Abbott sending them. He was angry about them being disrespected by having to undergo background checks once they got there.

Disrespecting your troops does not provide the necessary loyalty for them to want to protect your life. Joe will eventually pay for this insult.

Democrats did not even wait until Joe Biden was sworn in to start bad mouthing the military. Hope Rep. Cohen (D. NY) gets lots of feedback from his fellow New Yorkers regarding his comments. Nadler, Ocasio-Cortez, Jeffries, Schumer..... is it something in the water that makes the Democrat Reps and Senators from NY total idiots?

Why did you send them in the first place then? You had to have known that they were going to be exploitable political fodder, or are you just that blinded?

So put your balls where your mouth is and recall all your guardsmen...I'm sure they will appreciate it not having to stand around with empty rifles while that little toe rag Bidet gets sworn in..

The Tx Guard and other states’ Guard units go because the feds (we) pay for a large portion of their equipment and training. I’m glad Abbott objected, but keep in mind the last time a governor (NJ) denied a deployment during the Reagan admin, the unit was disbanded a few years later. Saying it won’t happen again was likely the best thing to say.

Re: #11 - If I had a beef with some folks in New York, I certainly would not serially insult all New Yorkers, as that would unnecessarily wrong some very good people. Why do you use almost every article that mentions Texas to openly and repeatedly insult Texans? Are you a democrat?
