Shoppers from minority groups are more likely to shop online than go into a store, in order to avoid racial profiling, according to a new report. The study from the French beauty company Sephora found that in order to avoid incidents such as being falsely accused of shoplifting, minority shoppers avoid touching product samples, make a point of chatting to sales assistants and make sure they are well dressed, all in order to lessen the possibility of being racially profiled when “shopping while black”. Last summer, fashion brands were called out for alleged hypocrisy, for making public statements of support for the Black Lives Matter movement

In Atlanta, Buckhead to be more specific, there was a mall that was very nice. Clean, safe, very little crime. The Atlanta rapid transit authority built a rail station that was in the lower level of the mall... practically IN the mall.
Crime, shoplifting, car-jackings and murders immediately started up as, speaking frankly here, those with a higher disposition for committing crimes based upon melanin content seemed to have a cheap way to get to a nice mall with lots of nice things that could fit into pockets and purses.

On a day we celebrate the birth and life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., let us not forget what he reminded all Americans: "As God's children, we can live either in anger and hate or we can live as fools." What would Jesus do?

There is apparently no such thing as discipline or peer pressure amongst those who are known to be the #1 shoplifters in the cosmetics departments and specialty stores. Walmart had to lock up its preparations for blacks as their loss reports showed them to be literally walking out of their stores. Kind of revealing. No profiling necessary. White women don’t steal black cosmetics and special hair treatments.
There are minority shoppers - I once saw an obviously overseas Chinese man and his lady in the luxurious cosmetics department at what was then our local Bullock’s department store. He was buying a number of items and had a huge pile of American cash on the counter in front of him. I feared for his safety as he was making himself a target. But he was paying for the goods, not stealing it.
The blacks - even the good ones - have been seriously tarnished by the bad behavior of some of them. Their problem. They should fix it.

Shoplifting is not a problem. You can pick up almost $1,000.00 worth of stuff and walk off and they won't even call the police, who won't arrest you for that amount anyway. No matter to the store owner, who may have several of these transactions per day.

what a racist article. Whites have been shopping online for quite awhile which increased sharply because of the China Flu. This "journalist" can't seem to think that Blacks have been doing the same for the same reason?

The Guardian is a communist newspaper, always has been. Even more so than even the hideously unreliable NYT.

This is such a load of hooey. Absolute. Hooey. What I see here, is a minority writer attempting to push for a responsibility free card for minority society, where they can act anyway they want to, with no repercussions for the misery they might cause somebody else. That isn't how life works Priya.

this is not true from where I stand. have not seen an increase or a decrease in our black brothers and sisters in any store I've gone into. what's the source of the story, The Guardian, but of course. they've never printed a story that couldn't be easily debunked and proven false.

Of course the content of the article is bogus; it's Marxist propaganda, as is 95% of the news. Read past that and see that retailers in the US are bending over in reaction to these claims, not only closing down for Diversity training, but also some (Sephora for one) pledging to dedicate 15% of their shelf space to black-owned businesses. Shoplifting by bLACK people is OK and perhaps excusable, WHITE people being attacked is OK (they probably have it coming), but have someone whine about being uncomfortable and mountains are moved.

Blacks are their own worst enemy but they would rather believe the myths the dims tell them. It is so much easier to believe whitey is out to get ya than to fix the cultural problems. There is an easy, logical explanation why all people, including blacks, profile and it is normally based on experience.

I am Caucasian therefore I am not a Minority. In last last three years the only retail store I’ve been in is the Grocery Store. I buy everything else on line...I’m sure my neighbors who are identify as Minority shop mostly on line also!

Total BS. People who shop online must pay for their purchases, a practice not very popular with the suntanned crowd.
If they were subjected to racial profiling in the past the odds are ten to one that they attempted to slide something through the checkout area and got caught. If they didn't then their friends or family did. The "mostly peaceful" riots produced hundreds of videos that demonstrated that the shoppers had plenty of experience in "free trade."

I feel sad for blacks who are law abiding, honest, who don't shoplift. They are lumped together with the bad members of their race.
Unfortunate but true.

On the plus side, it's a lot harder to shoplift online.

Grand comedy; WHITE people for years now have avoided shopping malls and other such venues so as to prevent being assaulted or killed by packs of "wilding" minorities. Asking bLACK customers to stop shoplifting and being violent is off the table, so maybe instead we need separate but equal stores where we can all shop in peace.
