South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and other lockdown critics have been accused for months of ignoring the science on the novel coronavirus, but a recently released study by Stanford University researchers is providing an empirical boost to those who want to shut down the shutdowns. A peer-reviewed article in the European Journal of Clinical Investigation found “no clear significant beneficial effect” from stay-at-home orders and business closures in eight nations, including the United States, versus voluntary measures adopted by South Korea and Sweden. Published Jan. 5, the article offers what may be the strongest scientific challenge yet to more restrictive

London—The Trump Baby Blimp will live on long after its namesake has left the White House. The Museum of London said Monday that it had added the giant balloon, which depicts Donald Trump as a screaming orange baby, to its collection as an illustration of the protests that greeted the U.S. president when he visited the city in 2018. “By collecting the baby blimp, we can mark the wave of feeling that washed over the city that day and capture a particular moment of resistance,” Sharon Ament, the museum’s director, said in a statement. The blimp will become part of the museum’s protest collection

The Biden Institute, a policy research center at the University of Delaware founded by the incoming commander-in-chief, will not disclose its donors once Joe Biden becomes president, according to a new report. The research center was one of a number of organizations founded by the former veep after he left office in 2017 and is in the middle of a $20 million fundraising campaign trading off its famous namesake. But unlike other foundations and groups carrying Biden’s name, which were shut down in 2019 when he announced his White House bid, the Biden Institute will continue to exist and fundraise

Eerie video footage shows emergency warnings being tested out before Inauguration Day in almost empty streets around the US Capitol.
A short clip recorded Saturday afternoon shows the usually bustling streets near the Capitol building in Washington, DC, almost completely empty after the district put up a ring of steel amid ongoing threats of violence. Adding to the unsettling scenes, a loudspeaker repeatedly states, “This is a test of the US Capitol Police audible emergency notification system.”
“Super dystopian,” said Remora House DC, a “collective” that helps the district’s homeless, as it shared the clip. “Super scary times we living in.”

Shoppers from minority groups are more likely to shop online than go into a store, in order to avoid racial profiling, according to a new report. The study from the French beauty company Sephora found that in order to avoid incidents such as being falsely accused of shoplifting, minority shoppers avoid touching product samples, make a point of chatting to sales assistants and make sure they are well dressed, all in order to lessen the possibility of being racially profiled when “shopping while black”. Last summer, fashion brands were called out for alleged hypocrisy, for making public statements of support for the Black Lives Matter movement

China has dismissed heightened claims from the US that COVID-19 may have originated in a Wuhan lab—slamming it as baseless “conspiracy theories” and dubbing outgoing Secretary of State Mike Pompeo “Mr. Lies.” Beijing’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying insisted Monday that a US State Department “fact sheet” published Friday was “full of fallacies,” according to Bloomberg. The US report—which claimed that before the pandemic hit, several researchers fell sick in the Wuhan lab that worked on “secret projects with China’s military”—was the “last madness” of Pompeo, Hua reportedly said at a regular news briefing Monday. “The so-called fact sheet is another lie

U.S. President-elect Joe Biden is planning to cancel the permit for the $9 billion Keystone XL pipeline project as one of his first acts in office, and perhaps as soon as his first day, according to a source familiar with his thinking. President Donald Trump had made building the pipeline a central promise of his presidential campaign. Biden, who will be inaugurated on Wednesday, was vice president in the Obama administration when it rejected the project as contrary to its efforts to combat climate change.(Snip)The project, which would move oil from the province of Alberta to Nebraska, had been slowed by legal issues

Are there no British anesthesiologists, or is there a shortage of those who are willing to work for the third-world salaries required to keep the NHS "free?" Note also how some people have carte blanche for behaviors that are "cultural," while WHITE people are universally reviled for the crime of their skin color and what's left of their culture.
