Establishment Republicans will learn the hard way how very much they have lost in helping Joe Biden win the way he did.(Snip)The idea that a large part of America genuinely could be infuriated by the behavior of our elected officials has not dawned on them.(Snip)
they never ask themselves if they might have given their constituents legitimate reasons not to trust them. Did they ever, for example, vote to send a $10 million check to Pakistan and a $600 check to some Americans? Would that upset anyone?
Today, these politicians are breathing a sigh of relief—their second mistake: “My constituents trusted me before Trump came,” they think.

Thrumpism is in part an outgrowth of the Tea Party. It will continue. The GOP establishment enjoys the spoils of the status quo and government corruption. They care nothing about serving their constituents and upholding the constitution to which they have sworn. The world has changed and they will be surprised by what will happen to the status quo and to them.

The Republicans are like the guy standing in the pit feeding alligators and does not realize what the alligators eat next when his food pot is empty.

When well meaning people get to Washington DC, they quickly get stuck in the swamp mentality of control and power. To have any voice at all in the House or Senate, they are required to go along with the establishment, which is only interested in keeping and growing their power and influence in Government, but not in the interests of constituents who sent them there. This corruption for power and control was threatened by Donald Trump, and therefore could not stand. We are just pawns and sheep to be controlled and used for their continued plush jobs, power and growing wealth. Why do you think the idea of term limits on congresspeople and Senators is always DOA. So, as usual, we get played every 2, 4 or 6 years. Now, it looks like our vote has become meaningless as well.

OP I totally support your comments. It is a remarkable essay. I have held disgust for so many of the elites in the Republican Party over the years. They are good at speaking out of both sides of their mouths, as my mother would say. I liked what President Trump tried to do for the American people. I never felt he was trying o get votes. But he was hated and vilified from the time he decided to run. They were afraid of him. Now we are faced with an insignificant man and socialism, in power. He will never be my president.

Anyone with experience understands that supporting actions over empty words and promises is what an actual adult does. Trump mostly matched his words with actions, sometimes the actions came before the words did. Republicans and democrats are all about vacant promises, devoid of any kind of real meaning.
I have to admit that I am fascinated by current events, watching Biblical prophesy starting to unfold in front of our eyes. But when Europe knows that democrats stole the election and republicans just sit there, that says more than anything DC can say to us pretty much forever.

The GOP is not a monolith. It exists on a continuum from Graham/McConnell/Sasse/etc. to Trump. That may change but it hasn't yet.

Who is this "GOP" that he speaks of? If GM's Board of Directors were to defy the vast majority of their stockholders, the would soon cease to be "GM." Same with the "GOP."

This Article was one of the best I've read since the Election. It sums up what I feel and what I would bet millions of other Republicans feel. I agree that our Representatives in Congress think we will "get over it" or "move on" from this Stolen Election, but we won't. We won't forget the way WE have been treated due to the way they have vilified Our President. We won't forget what is happening each and every day since the Election. Especially, what has happened in the last two days when ALL means of communication have been cut off for the President, but also for any and all Conservatives they can find! We will remember who sat on their hands when Pence was reading off the Electors. We knew, and THEY knew there was Fraud in those Battleground States, but they said nothing! Only a Few stood to object! We will back them and we will PRIMARY the rest. One by one, they will be gone when their term is up! One of my Senators is Rubio. I sent a letter to Both Rubio and Rick Scott about objecting to the Electors. I had a response from Scott with his feelings on the Subject. I didn't hear anything from Rubio. Rick Scott stood and Objected to PA. Rubio, even today on Maria Bartiromo said it had been a lost cause from the beginning. So, I am hoping we can find someone to primary Rubio. maybe Don Jr. or Ivanka! I will speak with my dollars and my votes!

Remember Trump from was always one man against the corrupt DC UniParty system that he clearly exposed, and as such could only do what was politically possible. Trump had to fill a lot of positions from the Cabinet and White House levels on down with individuals who were recommended to him by the establishment Republican portion of the DC UniParty, and there is no doubt that many of those Trump appointees were out to covertly sabotage Trump’s administration and his political agenda from the get-go. As an example the “leaking” to the liberal media by White House staff started immediately, and all through his term in office Trump could not hold a confidential deliberative meeting in the White House without the contents of the meeting being leaked to the liberal media and to congressional Democrats.

We will see if the Rhinos and GOP frauds become irrelevant. I suspect we will hear in two years we have to take back the Senate and the House and the same candidate and same policies will be presented as the only choice. We have to vote Republican we can't have a Democrat fill the seat. That line of reasoning is why we have Romney. Graham, Toomey and all these other who willing or unwillingly support Socialists programs to buy votes and obtain campaign finances. And unfortunately too many people will buy into this line of reasoning and fear and the game and charade will continue. The republican party has betrayed not only its supporters but it has betrayed the US Constitution and the Ideals that our country was founded on. This will be a long hard road do NOT get discouraged.

They aren’t just glad Trump lost, they are glad that they will be in the minority forever more. All the grift and graft, none of the blame. ”years of mailings, speeches and pronouncements “The Dems did it. Give us more money and Swamp critters and we’ll get it next time!”.
Same as it ever was.

Well the problem with the November election was the the Republican National Committee and the State Republican Parties are the entities that select the future Republican candidates for political office and set them up to run in the State Republican primary elections. They are the entities that facilitated all the RINO’s getting elected to the Congress over the years in the first place. What needs to happen is that new legitimate conservative Republican candidates must run against the RINO’s in upcoming Republican State primary elections and concerned Republicans must not allow those RINO’s to be re-elected by voting for new truly conservative Republican candidates in those primary elections. That is the only way to remove the mass of wimpy RINO’s from the Congress. It will take a while but that is the only way to remove those RINO’s one by one from the Congress.
The Republican National Committee and the State Republican parties are also responsible for allowing the Democrats to use COVID as cover to get liberal judges and individual State officer holders to make big changes in the State election laws and procedures without going through the State legislatures, by OK’ing mass mail in ballots to people who did not request them, many who lived out of state, or to people who had died, by not requiring the matching of signatures on mail in ballots with the signatures on voter registration documents, and even accepting mail in ballots with no signatures at all, or extending the date that mail in ballots could be accepted. Along with that, the mass use of insecure electronic voting machines connected to the internet, with all the that partisan high jinks destroying the integrity and security of State level voting rules to the great advantage of the Democrat Presidential candidate. If all that is not fixed a Republican candidate will never again be able to win another Presidential election.

I'm beginning to see the impact. I'm on the mailing list of two Republican women's organizations in my formerly red, but now solid blue state. One sent out an email saying they needed 10 members to be part of the national Republican women's organization, and they only had five renewals. The other just sent an email saying they needed 25 reservations for the January luncheon or they would cancel. They had 10.

The Republi-can Party died years ago.
While there are a few solid conservatives that still run as Republicans, the party has clearly become the Republi-can't Party, and relishes having no power. The swamp creature Republi-can't politicians still make their millions of dollars every year, but relish in not having to deal with really having to do anything.

The Republican Party is a sham party that exists to provide the illusion of choice. Collaborators with the CommuNazis, enablers of totalitarian socialism in exchange for warmongering money. The "lesser" of two evils is still evil. I will do whatever I can to destroy them.

The author’s answer to the headline’s question is “they shouldn’t be”. This essay is one of the best I’ve ever posted. It expresses just about what I believe, why I have supported Trump the Idea, Trump the True American Patriot, Trump the Leader With the Right Road Map, rather than just Trump the Man. It was hard to distill down to an intro that would grab your attention. I’ll just say “I was glad I read it. I will send it on to friends and family, especially the young ones. I hope you’ll do the same.” Those of us who supported his ideas for a better America, his beliefs that it could be done, that we could do it, aren’t going anywhere. We’re still here, stronger and more determined than ever. I hope.
