The American Civil Liberties Union on Friday is raising concerns about social media platforms banning users, in the aftermath of Twitter’s decision to permanently suspend President Trump. While the ACLU has repeatedly locked horns with Mr. Trump and his administration over issues such as the president’s travel ban, the ACLU is worried about the ramifications of tech companies diminishing online speech. “We understand the desire to permanently suspend him now, but it should concern everyone when companies like Facebook and Twitter wield the unchecked power to remove people from platforms that have become indispensable for the speech of billions—especially when political realities

Perhaps someone at the ACLU understands that if it can happen to me, it can happen to thee.

Just virtue signalling, I bet. Although even that is more support for someone / something on the Right than they're generally known to show.

Because if the ACLU takes a position Big Tech doesn't like it bans the ACLU.

Biden and the new AG are not going after the Tech companies. They can do whatever they want. The Republicans will have to move to their own platforms. At the present rate, Republicans will soon be limited to communicating by walkie talkie.

I have avoided Linux because of the learning curve, but I know it has advantages. Now it has a must have in that it is independent of Apple, Google and Microsoft. Kiss off Big Brother and go open source. Then they can't track you and control you. YOU decide what sites you want to visit, not them. I would strongly advise the Trump team to look hard at supporting and working off a Linux platform. It could end up being the last place of free speech and independent computer control.
I need Photoshop, but I can avoid everything else. So I will put a Linux version on my backup system and baby step into that platform. When I get GIMP figured out, cut off all the overlords.

they don't really mean it and as every loyal commie group they will only say and/or do things to ingratiate themselves to the public. commie newspeak is becoming the way to say what you mean and not mean it and mean what you say and not mean it.

Just a little late to the party, boys and girls, to care about free speech now. THAT horse escaped the gate long ago - thanks to you.

80 million strong core of voters are mad - and that number is actually larger with a massive potential to metastasize even larger. And those 80 million (minimum) own weapons legally and know more than the basic rudiments of firing and maintaining those weapons. When well over a million of those folks marched to congress to seek redress over obvious election fraud (among other things) from their representatives, their elected representatives scurried away like roaches. 80 million people will not go away willingly or easily. The left is attempting to silence 80 millions people - hoping this will be forgotten soon. My guess is we are seeing the beginnings of a civil war. It will be prolonged, violent and ultimately devastating to the leftists - and that is terrifying the left. In a way they have always wanted this. In a posturing sort of way, but they won't like it when the rubber meets the road.

Wow, I thought they were defunct, seeing as we haven’t heard a peep out of them while Americans were being muzzled and locked down. Must be an ulterior motive somewhere. The ACLU would normally have NO problems silencing conservatives.

ACLU will quickly run away from this concept like a cat with turpentine on its butt when the Dims point out to them that they have left the reservation and are facing lack of Dim funding.

Gee, ya think? This is EXACTLY like what Xi does to dissidents in China... you're simply 'disappeared' one day and no one even knows you existed. "Poof" gone.
