Los Angeles ambulance crew members have been instructed not to transport patients with “little chance of survival” to local hospitals as ICUs near capacity across the county. In a directive (pdf) issued by the Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services Agency Monday, ambulance workers were also told to conserve the use of oxygen in the state’s most populous county.

Goobernment has been rationing healthcare for generations. Its don't without calling it rationing. Things like limiting the number of healthcare providers (Remember Hitlery's only legislative accomplishment as a Senator was to slash funding to train doctors. She said we have too many). The results is the expected long lines waiting to se a doctor or nurse practitioner. Ask any Medicare beneficiary about those long waits for an appointment. And limiting how much hospitals are paid (Medicare and Medicaid don't even cover the cost of opening a hospital door). Thus, less an less hospitals with less and less ICUs. Now, we are seeing the fruits of goobernment policy towards healthcare. Shortages. Now goobernment can't hide its rationing Ponzi schemes. Its in the open. And with Dems about to take over DC, expect it to get worse!

This sets the stage for massive lawsuits. We are now expecting an EMT, not a medical doctor, to determine who can and can not be saved. In many cases, these EMTs can make that call from experience. But where the issues are not so obvious, would YOU want to make that call, only to find out later that you were or may have been wrong?

It is California. Who cares what happens out there. The people are mostly idiots and they get the government they vote for and the policies they deserve. If they didn't like wallowing in the mess they have then they would not keep electing people like Newsome and Garcetti.

This is a trial run for bureaucrats deciding who gets to live or die with government run healthcare.

3, I did t vote for this government, do not deserve this government, and if you looked at how the 2020 election was stolen, where do you think they have been practicing election fraud for decades?

I get it. We pay for these services and the politicians get to decide which ones they wish to provide to whom. Do you think they are consuting the voter rolls for a D or R before deciding to provide healthcare services? That's socialism/communism and that's what they vote for in that crooked dominion machine?

Oh: Come on Man.
This is crazy. No EMT is qualified to say who is beyond help.
Even Doctors cannot say who will survive and who won't
They aren't God.

This is Cal. It’s ok to kill babies and anyone over 75 just ask Ezekiel Emanuel. I’m sure there’ll be exceptions for the rich and elite dems but everyone else watch out.

It begins with medical triage. It will end with political triage.

The death squads have been activated. This is only the beginning. Next, they will look at voter registration and social media content.

Huh... That's something a General in a war zone orders. Not civilian. I would suggest whoever wrote that order be informed that THEY not the ambulance crews will be held liable for all fatalities not transported. YOu know... First degree murder?
This is beyond atrocious.

It's all made up. Minor virus, easy fix, sorry, not a catastrophe.
You can always find pictures of exhausted house staff -- it's part of the romance of medical education.
And you can caption it however you see fit, such as "Doctors exhausted and overwhelmed by Covid cases" whereas it's an ordinary day - domestic abuse, GSWs, heart attacks, asthma, the real flu, and so on. Typical stuff in a big city hospital.
This on-the-fly triage stuff is Democrat MURDER!

I didn't want to give my email to read the article, but from the blurb above I gather this is a death-panel on wheels.

Where are the EMTs suppose to take you? The morgue?
Welcome to government run healthcare. Is there really a shortage of ICUs?

Or maybe Ezekiel Emengele. And it was his no-good brother that opined: never let a good totalitarian coup d'etat go to waste. I wonder which camp Rahm will be running?

I guess that miracles need no longer apply then? How many people have been originally thought to be at death's doorstep, only to not only survive, but survive remarkably well too?

For those who read beyond the intro:
FTA:
The county EMS directive states that due to bed shortages, ambulance crews should no longer transport patients to hospitals if their hearts have stopped and resuscitation attempts have failed, according to the Los Angeles Times.
If patients show no signs of breathing or a pulse, ambulance crew members will perform resuscitation for at least 20 minutes. The patient may be transported to a county hospital if he or she stabilizes after the efforts of resuscitation. Patients declared dead at the scene will not be transported to hospital by paramedics.
It is never a good idea to run wild on only a headline and brief intro.
BTW, I took a trial subscription to Epoch Times, which required my email address. They do not sell addresses and the daily reports I get from this excellent news source are invaluable.

Triage: The process of sorting people based on their need for immediate medical treatment as compared to their chance of benefiting from such care. Triage is done in emergency rooms, disasters, and wars, when limited medical resources must be allocated to maximize the number of survivors. Triage in this sense originated in World War I. Wounded soldiers were classified into one of three groups: those who could be expected to live without medical care, those who would likely die even with care, and those who could survive if they received care.
https://www.medicinenet.com/triage/definition.htm
This goes on wherever there is a battlefield or a major disaster. Or devastating traffic accident where there are many casualties. It is not “rationing”. It is common sense.

No talk of increasing capacity in the face of growing China flu cases, drug overdoses, murder shootings and alcohol poisoning. What are the determining symptoms of little chance of survival? Kind of like when a baby is facing an abortion. Here comes the scissors forceps and vacuum... run baby run! Sorry kid no birthday parties for you.

It's always the same story. Money talks. Now we will need to *contribute* to EMTs to get help?
