Last year had some seriously reel effects on the movie industry. Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic—and at a time when many movie theaters weren’t open—North American box offices are anticipated to hit a shocking new low. Following five years of annual ticket sales in excess of $11 billion, they’re expected to reach just $2.3 billion this year, the Associated Press reported. That’s not only down 80 percent from 2019, according to data firm Comscore, but also an almost 40-year low, the AP notes. Worldwide, where certain areas have seen more reopenings, box-office sales will hit between $11 billion and $12 billion,

Why would I support the Pompous, Arrogant, and Know-It-All Hollywood Creatures obsessed with bashing conservatives and President Trump? Hope 2021 would be a bloodier blood bath for the box offices.

Well, if China is their employer, they do what they are told and make the movies they are directed to make. That's why all those "stars" are contributing to Georgia Senate run-off. Most of them have probably never been to Georgia, but they do what they are told to do. Also, were it not for the China virus, more people would have gone to the movies.

I haven’t been to a movie in years, I watch MeTv and Antenna TV, if it was my choice I would get rid of the satellite.

I don't think it would have been any better if the movie theater's were open. The endless trash that's being produced isn't worth the amount of money a ticket costs today.

Covid may be listed on the death certifcate as the proximate cause of Hollywood's demise but the co-morbidities are political correctness, humorlessness, and arrogance. Truth be told absent the special effects the typical Hollywood production is about as entertaining as your mother's prom night lecture. Here is a hint. Nobody really wants a transexual Disney princess or a female Muslim shape shifting Captain Marvel.

We saw "1917" in the theater and had hoped to see Wonder Woman 1984, the Dune remake, and the Top Gunn sequel.
Covid put the last two pictures into 2021 and the local bijou went bankrupt/
Pretty much describes the year we had-- War, and everything put off until furhter notice. I pay enough without having to spend extra money on top of my current television subscription and refuse to pay Disney and HBO MORE $$$
Television has taken on an activist agenda promoting violence, counter culture, cancel culture, occultism and confusion of traditional customs and mores. Print media and news has been weaponized into propaganda.
About all that is left is radio, satellite radio and old movie reruns.

Amidst all the trash, I recommend "The Gentlemen" with McConaughey. Fun and entertaining movie with some zany characters.

Long ago I used to rent a good movie almost every week from Redbox. That hasn't happened in several years, as I never see anything but politically correct garbage that I have no interest in watching. Gee, that will be too bad if all those Hollywood "actors" lose their big paychecks, have to move out of Beverly Hills, and find out what actually working for a living is all about.

#8, don’t bother. My daughter rented WW84 and we watched it on Christmas night - it was beyond awful.
I hope that Hollywood dies a slow and agonizing death and all of the “stars” wind up in homeless encampments.

My heart bleeds. I'm surprised Nasty Nan didn't include mega-millions to the cause in the Stimulus Bill. After all, the Hollywoodites do have a decadent lifestyle and an image they have to uphold. C'mon, Man...

I can recommend "1917" and "They Shall Not Grow Old"as well worth seeing.
But, we spent a week going over the battlefields, museums and monuments in northern France pertaining to the first world war, so have a real interest in that sad, sad time.
The first is a very realistic movie, uniquely shot in "real time", with no cuts. Very unusual, and it works.
The latter is a magnificent job of bringing real WW1 war footage "to life" by massive efforts of caring experts. Surprisingly interesting.
See them. Really.
