On Monday, the California Supreme Court ruled that thousands of inmates convicted of non-forcible sex crimes may be eligible for early release under a ballot measure that was overwhelmingly approved by voters four years ago.The initiative, called Proposition 57, was written by then-Governor Jerry Brown (D) and passed by nearly two-thirds of the electorate. It was crafted to reduce the state’s prison population, saying any person found guilty of a “nonviolent felony offense” would be eligible for early parole. Brown said it was never intended to cover sex offenders. However, the original language did not exempt them from consideration. Lower appeals courts had ruled that nonviolent sex offenders could not

Major exodus out of California is happening this very moment. Fourth generation Californians that I know personally (they raised sheep in the 1850's near Placerville and sold them to the 49er's...the real 49er's). are selling out while they still can. California has unfunded pension liabilities ($Billions. Hundreds of $Billions) and see no other way than to tax you. And then tax you again. We live in a rural area of Oregon and if you call 9-11 for help here, they can't send anyone to help you. You help yourself. That's your mindset from here until Easter. Time to suit up.

In Washington state this past Spring/summer, an activist group including the ACLU tried to get every prisoner over the age of 50 released from prison because they might catch the china flu. By ONE vote, 5 to 4 our State Supreme Court turned them down. If this had gone the other way, Gary Ridgeway, the Green River Killer, a man who killed 49 women and possibly 100 would have been released along with another murderer named David Lewis Rice a man who on Christmas Eve 1985 invaded a home in Seattle, tied up the family, including two little boys, chloroformed them, then beat them to death with an iron. These people who are trying to get these monsters released are demented and they wonder why we want to carry guns.

Return of the late seventies, when your wife being five minutes late from the market brought a sense of dread. I lived in California then.

Ok so since they are non-forcible sex offenders that changes everything.

There are numerous reasons for normal people to be fleeing California. Unfortunately they will take their voting proclivities with them so as to ruin any areas to which they move. They should stay and thus inflict the results of their incredible stupidity ON THEMSELVES. Remember, although the AVERAGE Californian is indeed stupid, around half of them are necessarily stupider than that.

Not to be vulgar, but "early release" is already a characteristic of sex offenders.

Decades since I studied CA law but IMO: This is just a technical decision based upon a poorly worded Proposition. CA voters and politicians can fix it easily. It does not actually parole (release) anyone.
Whether it will be fixed is another matter.

Problem is, how many of those pervy offenders are going to migrate to other states and proceed to commit actual violent offenses against innocent women and children? To my mind, there is no such thing as a non-violent sexual offense. You steal a childhood or personal sense of security from somebody, that is very offensive.

The only solution for these people is to be put in the ground.
