A group has brought a lawsuit on Tuesday seeking to block the counting of electoral college votes from several contested states when Congress meets in a joint session on Jan. 6.
The Amistad Project filed the lawsuit arguing that the state legislatures of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Arizona were prevented from exercising their power under the U.S. Constitution to certify the presidential electors’ votes cast on Dec. 14. The group claims that a number of federal and state laws had unconstitutionally delegated the authority of state legislatures to certify these votes to state executive branches.
Under Article II of the U.S. Constitution, presidential electors must be appointed by each state

First off...here we are in the courts again trying to decide a wholly political matter. What's that about insanity...and here we are at the end of December, yet. Hire a lawyer and every issue is dragged into court. More than one Federal judge TOLD those suing that the relief they seek is in the legislatures, not the courts. And these judges, at least one a Trump appointee, got jumped by the usual howlin' wolves for not taking the case, some demanding impeachment. Many the same howlers that wanted "originalist" jurists...now demanding activist rulings.
These state legislatures, I would suggest, do not need the Governor's call to special session to perform Constitutional duties, but it makes a great screen to hide behind. The two presiding officers could call the legislature together for this duty. No laws are being passed. No need to be "in session". It is apparent that these REPUBLICAN legislatures are in cahoots in this UNIPARTY Dump Trump criminality.

I read where one of my senators is on the fence about challenging the results. I wrote him today expressing my support for him to do just that. I've never written to any official before. Now seems to be the time. For all of us!

Re #2, good for you. Most just rant and kvetch on forums. Precious few take their writing skills to where they might do some good.

Re #1, in this case the state legislatures apparently delegated their power of certification to their states’ executive branches. That delegation of duty was unconstitutional.

#4 - That argument is sad in that such "delegations" have been exercised without controversy for many years, and many would consider de facto at the direction of the legislature. That said, the legislatures have stood inert throughout this episode. An occasional legislator may chirp, usually some backbencher, but not the REPUBLICAN MAJORITY. Georgia is the foremost example. Go argue that the Republican-led state certified a phony election its candidate lost. You better find a kraken, and so far none has been seen anywhere.
The courts at the state and Federal levels up to SCOTUS have been very clear in this. They want no part. It really is this simple. Chief Justice Earl Warren Roberts has (reportedly) spoken. The underlying truth is that the UNIPARTY has this under control. And everyone thought Trump had it in the bag...

It isn't just a 'wholly political matter' earlier commenters. This is a criminal and fraudulent enterprise run by democrats with backing by China and other special interests who want Biden/Harris. The problem is, we have a corrupted CJ named Roberts who is desperately trying to avoid prosecution and exposure for his own crimes. So he is very likely to throw this entire nation under the bus, just to save his own hide. If that isn't the definition of a traitor, I do not know what is.

The executives have become dictators, stealing authority from the legislature. If the legislature allows it, without jumping up and down and raising hell, and using the powers they have, the citizens must intervene. If the citizens allow it, they deserve the political system they get.

The chicken-poop legislatures, namely in Georgia, appear to be afraid of upsetting the SoSs, and they are inclined to let them get away with lying and cheating. Raffensperger, in Georgia, says he's hearing from people all over the country, and he basically said for those people to mind the business of their states, so he can move forward with NOT making the time to respond to his Georgia constituents, many who have been waiting for almost two months for responses from his office concerning questions or allegations of fraud. He thinks he should run things like corporate America, and he complains that he can't fire people. He may not be able to fire people, but he can make sure they follow the rules. He has to follow the rules himself first. A lawyer answered most of the questions in that "hearing" and not the SoS. That says everything. The SoS cabal pointed out a lot of issues that need future attention; however, they insist the current election results should stand.

We’re talking Electoral college votes that were illegal - why certify - it doesn’t make the election legal. Do the right thing and give us DJT for the next 4 years.
