The Trump administration has rolled back an Obama-era rule-change that placed new standards on showerheads in order to decrease daily water usage and increase conservation, a federal regulation the president has repeatedly derided as burdensome.Under the rule-change, federal officials will no longer apply the gallons-per-minute limit for showerheads to all nozzles in a given shower, a departure from the Obama administration, which capped their collective output at 2.5 gallons per minute.According to the Department of Energy, the regulation change will ensure “access to showerheads that can provide enough water

Now do low flow toilets. They require three flushings ad frequent cleanings. But the pinheads tell us we will save water.

DO IT YOURSELF. Take the showerhed apart and remove the little think that impedes the water.

Now we need our lightbulbs back. And our real toilets. Those conservation wackos never thought about our having to flush 2 or 3 or more times rather than just once.

This long overdue regulatory reform won’t last long because Axios is reporting that Michael Regan will be nominated as EPA head, From the article:
“If confirmed, he'll be leading an agency slated to play a key role in Biden's climate change agenda — managing the tricky task of unwinding Trump-era rules and writing new ones to fit an agenda that Biden's campaign said would be more aggressive than Obama-era policies.”
We have just a short time to buy the unregulated shower head, assuming the manufacturers will want to produce a better shower head for just a few months. Perhaps Koehler or Delta can claim that normal, therefore stronger, water flow is more effective at washing away the Wuhan virus.

Yea!
The whole country isn't a desert like some states, no need for this silly 'water conservation ' stuff in most of the country. Leave us alone.

I'm on a well at my house in FL. The aquifer is MASSIVE (hundreds of feet deep and a million of acres, at least). I put in a new shower head and had to crank up the pressure on my pump switch. I drilled out the restricter in the head and it still didn't flow nicely. Why am I living by standards/restrictions intended for Southern CA?

There was an early 1990s Seinfeld episode dedicated to mocking the low flow shower heads. The visuals were comical, of bad hair, and the story line included a black market for shower heads.
In my house, we just spent 300 dollars, replacing a Koehler low capacity toilet with an American Standard of the same type. (The Koehler seemed to have a design flaw where the internal flush mechanism kept disconnecting itself.)
The light bulb fiasco took place during the presidency of George W. Bush. The promise of the mercury loaded light bulbs was that their use would save some ridiculously overstated amount of oil -millions of barrels a year. I wisely began hoarding the old fashioned bulbs, and still have a reserve supply..

Most of us do not live in Los Angeles where everything from electrical power to water must be rationed due to packing too many people in one area. Water is not "wasted" when it goes down the drain to eventually end up as rainfall and enjoys countless trips back to your home. The government needs to keep its nose out of everything where it does not know the full effects of what it is doing, which includes, well, everything.

If you take the shower head and look into the connection end, most have a rubber blockage in them to slow down the flow of water. Pull that out and put it back on and you'll have a much stronger shower.

Yes, many shower heads have an easily removed water restrictor. Manufacturers can have high flow available almost instantly just by not inserting the restrictors. Any good plumber can help you out.

This is something that should have been done 3.75 years ago. It would have alliwed manufacturers to change their product and stockpile inventory. Now, no one will go to the expense to change for a very short period of time. Just another example of the "make hay while the sun shines" rule.

Whining about the inefficiencies of low-flow toilets simply means that a cheap low-flow toilet was installed. Any of the better brands (Koehler, American Standard, Toto) perform very well.
What the gubmint needs to fix are the restrictions on dish washers and washing machine water usage. The most recent products of these type take forever to perform their tasks. I have a 15 year old Whirlpool laundry set and a 25 year old Magic Chef dishwasher (installed when I built my home). My plumber tells me to repair both items until parts are no longer available as the new stuff is crap by comparison.

No worries! Once we are forced into the Paris Climate Scam, every person will be allotted exactly one gallon of water per day. So see, you won't need to worry about your shower head at all. You'll be too busy worrying about where your next drink of water comes from.
I'm joking . . . maybe.

Remember the Seinfeld show where NYC made the residents change the shower heads and Kramer got some Serbian guys to smuggle in high pressure heads? The writers of that show had second sight.

2nd post apologies, but, #19, read my original post. When we remodeled our house, we bought American Standard for two bathrooms and the basement, but I chose Koehler for the master bath, because I believed it to be the best toilet available.
The Koehler, however, had a self defeating internal tank mechanism, where, when flushed, the mechanism would detach the filler house from itself.
I had our plumber replace the Koehler with American Standard, which works perfectly. The Koehler went to the landfill.

The EPA has never been a commonsense department at all the past 25-30 years. They make up the most stupid regulations and apply them nationwide, even if the continental US doesn't grow things like pineapples, we still have to be regulated as if we do. Same with the low flow shower heads, toilets and so on.
To anyone who has an older dishwasher, make friends with your repairman and make sure to keep that precious commodity running. The newer machines are pretty much useless garbage.
Another thing, do not let yourself be fooled into getting the washing machine with the impeller style tub. You will regret it deeply, as this style does not clean clothes at all. Eventually, your clothes will have a dingy appearance to them that will shock you if you wash them in an old agitator model.
I had one until it finally became toast after nearly 20 years. I got the old school agitator style machine again and was absolutely shocked at how much cleaner my laundry was, in some cases after just a single washing, without any effort or change of detergent on my part. I know that lots of people like the stacked models, but give me the agitator over the impeller style every single time.
Just some friendly and hard learned advice for my Lucianne family.
