Convinced that President Donald Trump lost his bid for reelection, the media suddenly became less hysterical. Just like that, the media, at least to some degree, rediscovered concepts such as fairness and perspective, AWOL the last four years. Two weeks after the election, New York Times Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Nicholas Kristof haltingly, grudgingly and reluctantly, admitted that yes, Trump was right. Banning in-person school education to fight COVID-19 was and is bad policy. Kristof wrote: "Some things are true even though President Trump says them. Trump has been demanding for months that schools reopen, and on that he seems to have been largely right.

Recently had a dustup with a liberal acquaintance about covid and he threw in the gratuitous, and de rigeur, 'Trump is a liar' crap. Oh yeah, He lied about covid..
Among other things, I suppose, he said A vaccine would be ready by January... and THREE were available in November.
Liar.

Those us who have been paying attention for the last couple of decades already knew the MSM had no credibility, but welcome to the club to those of you who are just recognizing the obvious.

Trump destroyed media credibility and exposed their partisan political nature, forever making them his enemies determined to destroy him. Thanks to Trump the public has no confidence in what the media says.
America is on the brink of losing confidence in the integrity of the election process due to the reports of rampant fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
Either of these in itself is worrisome but together they present a huge crisis for American democracy. When fundamental institutions have no credibility, the people react negatively and destructively. Riots and anarchy are just a few examples of potential reactions.
Americans MUST demand that journalistic standard be reinstituted and election integrity be restored. There is no alternative.

What media credibility? I have not believed the media since they told me Gore was elected in 2000. I have not considered anything since then to be reporting. It was all about Chris Matthews and the job of the media to make Democrats look good.

Just before Advent I went to confession and afterward we talked about various subjects. Father said he no longer watches news since all it does is get him upset and he said doesn't know who to believe anymore. I agreed with him. We both think the press has lost what shred of credibility it possessed long ago and we both agreed that Psalm 146 had it right: Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save.

Trump destroyed media credibility? Nope. They did that all on their own. Don't lie about it. That is all the media does these days: Lie. What Trump has done is shine alight on our media and show it for what it is: A bastion for radical lefties.

In what way is their credibility destroyed? You got millions of people who think Trump is the evil one of the 2 candidates, and at the same time millions of people hiding under their beds because "cases" of Corona.
They still have way too much influence, whether we believe in them or not.

I think Elder makes the same mistake conservatives have been making for many years - he is confusing "credibility" with being believed.
Seems to me "credibility" is a sort of moral concept; that is to say, one who loses his/her "credibility" by lying forfeits the right to be believed. By that standard the mainstream media lost its "credibility" ages ago. But it is still WIDELY BELIEVED - how many tens of millions of people hate President Trump because they believe whatever they're spoon fed by the media? How many are hiding in their closets or wearing masks and playing the "Karen" role because they heard on "the news" that we are on the eve of destruction?
"Credibility" is irrelevant. Ability to manipulate public opinion and behavior is the ballgame.

# 7 - I posted before I saw your entry. You nailed it much more succinctly than I. But you've got them hiding under their beds and I have 'em in their closets. Who is right?:-) :-) :-)

Trump didn't destroy media credibility; they destroyed their own credibility by their addiction to distortion, omission, and outright fabrication. They've been on that roll for decades, but amplified and multiplied it by orders of magnitude when Trump took the lead in the GOP primaries, metastasizing when he got elected. His principal contribution was twofold -- he triggered them by his refusal to conform to "Progressive" Political Correctness, and he called them out when their reporting was untrue or inaccurate.

The only people who can destroy the Media's credibility is the Media people themselves.
In this, they have done an exceedingly thorough job.
The reason Rush Limbaugh is so popular is that he tells the stories that the Media refuse to, and he tells the TRUTH, as best he can, which counters the lies of the Media.
When Donald Trump started running for President, he continued and extended what Rush was doing, telling the TRUTH as best he knew it, and pulling no punches in doing so.
Media talking heads that complain about losing credibility know just where to look...... DIRECTLY into a Mirror!

Life just isn't fair. We lose Thomas Sowell and are STILL stuck with Pricholas Kristof- and I don't say that with any grudge or reluctance.
