The free world is watching and holding its breath, appalled that an American coup can be treated so lightly by the U.S. media.
Australia is a federation. Independent states came together to form that federation, and the system they came up has similar features to the United States. It may be worth looking at. Australia's constitution dates to 1900 — we are young. And at the outset, our systems are not perfect.
Our House of Representatives is based on population, and we have a Senate based on states. The Senate acts as your Electoral College. Each state has the same number of senators.

Doesn't seem to have prevented Australia from going pretty far left lately. And I totally agree with the OP.

If every four years voter roles in all 50 states were deleted, and everyone had to re-register, in person, it would provide a better list of eligible voters in each state...

ALL a HORRIBLE idea.
Get it through your thick skulls. The vote for President is NOT a nationwide vote. It is 50 states with each one voting, according to their guidelines, for a slate of electors.
If you take this NATIONAL then you can kiss the Electoral College goodbye and with it, this once-great nation.
NO NO NO. A thousand times NO.
The Constitution allows the states to do this how they seem fit. If you want to establish, for reasons of equal protection (Constitutional...) that certain minimum standards by used for all elections in the nation, fine. But making a national compulsory vote? That is the worst idea I have heard in years. Why force more morons to vote?

Same thing here in Ecuador. No early voting, everyone votes on election day. Also, expat voting is done at the embassies, unlike US expat voting which requires a tedious process of sending for an absentee ballot and returning it by mail or the embassies diplomatic mail pouch, which the embassy says can take 3 to 4 weeks. This is ripe for abuse.

Yes, it’s true we have 50 state elections rather than one national one. But while it’s a good idea to allow each state to design a way to fraud-proof elections, I’m here to tell you that those of us who live in Pennsylvania (as well as the other swing states involved) will never have anything resembling a system that the Democrats can’t exploit for their own nefarious purposes. We have had many attempts in the past to establish Voter ID using one’s driver’s license, which should be a complete no-brainer, since it has to be used for banking, purchasing airline tickets, and so on. Each time, it was shot down by the Democrats, who whined about “disenfranchisement,” which was code for their not being able to rig the votes with dead voters or, as we see now, double-counting of ballots or the filling in of blank ballots, all marked with their preferred candidate. In other words, we need something a little more foolproof that the Democrats in our state can’t rig and can’t be overruled by tyrannical governors.

The change that is needed is an increase in the voting age to 21, 25 would be better. We all know the party formerly known as Democrat would have 16 year olds voting, they are easier to scam.

All voter rolls in every state revised, checked and cross referenced for verification. Mandatory address changes and death notices MUST be sent to registrar, responsible by Post Office and Coroner Office. Three days of voting - 2 for REQUESTED ONLY mail-in ballots and absentee, scheduled 3 days before actual in-person voting day. All ballots MUST BE POSTMARKED! Use same rules IRS has already established for that. All ballots must be signed and verify signatures. NO MULLIGANS! If you forget - try again next election. Get smarter in the meantime. No harvesting or granny farming. No pre-counting and NO FOUND BOXES of mystery votes from mystery locations. Signed chain of command at all times. Every box with a Dem, a Pub and a 3rd party rep signature and sealed. Felony penalties for anyone breaking that chain. Our vote boxes should be guarded by Brinks!! Elections should have hard and fast rules that cannot be changed on the winds of political whims. We need a voter roll reset before the next election. These should be national standards - up to states to impose.

To insure fairness, you also need a secure way to count the legitimate ballots. No tossing of some, no weighting allowed. Paper ballots, yes; observers from both parties, close enough to see the details that matter, like signatures.

Mandatory voting is s violation of one's freedom and just means the perpetually stupid would be casting ballots. We have an oversupply of ignorants participating as is.

Three things: #1. Not all states are far left, I live in a Liberal state (your conservatives). Secondly our senate is nothing like your electoral college it’s like your senate and thirdly yes it’s compulsory but that only means you have to turn up to a polling place nobody can make you actually vote. Once you’re inside the booth you can vote for Mickey Mouse or leave the paper blank if you want to. You can also request a postal ballot if you’re incapacitated or out of your electorate on polling day. Also no one makes you register to vote when you turn 18 I have a friend who is 60 and they’ve never enrolled to vote.

Not only should voting here be compulsory, but Presidential election laws should be uniform nationwide, including nationwide paper ballots, single day voting, TIGHT regulations for absentee voting, required photo voter identification and frequent identification of dead voters, illegal alien voters and duplicate registrations. It should NEVER be as easy to steal an election as the left found it this year!! And it should NEVER happen again!!
