The Drudge Report posted a 45 percent decline in web traffic in September as the site alienated its core readers by turning against President Trump ahead of the 2020 presidential election. The data—derived from comScore, which tracks the industry—were released in a report by TheRighting, a website that analyzes traffic to right-leaning websites. TheRighting told The Post that the Drudge Report had 1,291,000 unique visitors in September, according to data supplied by comScore, down from 2,340,000 in the same month a year ago.
September’s eye-popping decline marks the ninth month in a row that the political news aggregation website

I used to go to Drudge first thing. Of course I had it in a prominent position in my bookmarks and when it went bad, I still reflexively clicked on the site. After getting rid of the bookmark a year or two ago, I haven't given it a second thought. When I saw this headline, I thought "Oh Drudge, is that still around?"

The Drudge Report was my home page for 20 years, maybe more. About three years ago, I dropped it off and have not been to the site once in that time period.
I met Matt Drudge once, one on one at a private political event with perhaps 50 people there. He was wearing his fedora, and was essentially impossible to engage in conversation, seeming to be extremely shy or something. Standing over by a wall, by himself and several people tried to engage him in casual conversation without success, then left him alone. I tried, too. Attempts at conversation got mumbled one or two word replies. So, yes, I met him.....but learned nearly nothing except he seems very shy around strangers. Weird guy, and has somehow gone totally over to the dark side.

Seeking a minority investor? I was given to understand that Matt had already sold out - literally - to some deep pocket with a liberal bent. Further I'd heard he felt Trump had somewise dissed him. But for whatever reason he made a turn to the left and I haven't clicked on his site in almost a year.

I've stopped going there even to find out what hysteria is being peddled there because I don't want to give it the clicks. It's thoroughly disgusting and the headlines look like Verizon and MSNBC chose them.

The ONLY thing that matters to Drudge is his website. He thought he was making a smart move that would increase eyes-on for him. Wrong! The pull quote for me is that he is on "the fast track to irrelevance." Which he totally deserves. Liberals never took to him, conservatives will never take him back. So he'll find out what kind of success he can have with the creeps who like his "house of filth" stories.

I used to check Drudge 5-6 times a day to check on the headlines.
Then he went over to the dark side.
I haven't gone to his site in months now. I actually do miss the "old" Drudge. But I know I'm not going to find anything close to that if I go there now, so I don't bother.

I was getting creeped out with Drudge's obsession with sex doll articles, but his links to every anti-Trump article he could find was the final straw. I haven't clicked on his site in months. Can't remember the last time I thought about him before this article popped up.

Maybe they can get a bi.den bailout. Or just sellout to the chinese and join old joe in defrauding us. I heard drudge sold the site. Maybe the chinese own it. Through a discreet network of legal entities. Perhaps discreetly named HawkSino or something.

I have found that Rantingly, Pro-Trump News, and Bongino Report are great substitutes. But Lucianne comes first for me, always. I think the last time I looked at Drudge was the night of the 2016 election because of his real-time links to the NYT results and predictions, believe it or not.

I'm pretty sure he sold it 2 years ago and part of the deal was secrecy about the sale.
I believe it's now owned/controlled by a Google exec and his DNC activist wife who owns a number of other businesses.
They bought out his dad's nothing site first for enough that dad could retire, and shortly after Matt replaced with web ad agency of 20 years with these same folks who had zero experience in that business. And then shortly after the site turned hard left.
It was great while it lasted but served it's purpose and is now dead.

Drudge was a facade from the beginning. He saw a niche for a conservative media site and took advantage of it. He was never an investigative journalist as many thought because of his revelations about the Lewinsky - Clinton scandal. All he revealed was the original reporter, "Spiky" Isikoff, killed the story. Hence his nickname. As a news aggregator he did a good job, but once he made his FU money it was game over and we saw the real Drudge.

I left the Drudge link up just for old times and checked it out at the end of the day. Last night was it for me. Goodbye Matt, it was a lot of fun knowing you, so sorry you you put love of money before your love of freedom. In the end if your new pals win, we'll all, even you, be toast.

I don't click him or it gets credit. I'm sure he sold out, mad at Trump because he didn't get enough attention. There are many like that who feel scorned because Trump just hasn't the time to pay attention to their egos.

First he became a little bit too preoccupied with, shall we say, "special purpose robots." That seemed very weird. Then he started pushing a lot of Never-Trump/anti-GOP stuff. I can't remember what exactly caused me to pull the plug, but I've not been back in 4 or 5 years. I now use Liberty Daily News (love 'em), Pro-Trump News, and subscribe to Epoch Times.

#20 is probably right. This story gives us nothing new about that, though.
No valid business model supports purposely devalueing such a strong brand as Drudge Report. We still wait to learn why this site took a dive.

He did not sell out for money or fame, he had that. He sold out for greed. He wanted more. Pretty stupid to think any rat would be helpful or useful. He saw Air America crash, but TDS is very real and Matt got infected and sold out.
I'd say he did very, very, well for someone who just prioritized articles that others wrote. Since the MSM is SO blatant about their lies, the pent up demand for any collection of reasonable articles would generate tremendous traffic, which it did. Then the leftist liars infected it. Have fun pandering to a crowd that thinks injecting bleach was a real story.

I used to view the Drudge Report many times a day. I haven’t done that in a number of years. I never even think of it anymore unless I see something mentioned about it. There isn’t a hint of temptation to ever go there again.

I found Lucianne.com on Drudge way back in the late 90’s and will always be grateful for that but I dropped his site years ago when it went all tabloid. And then it went far left. Once again - get woke, go broke.

I've had only three homepages.
First was WorldNetDaily, then Drudge, and for a couple of years now, its been Lucianne.
I would always click to Lucianne from both pages.
I remember listening to his radio show and buying his book.
The only time I go to Drudge anymore is for his Reference Desk tool near the bottom of the right side of the page. It is useful, but the rest of the site is pretty much useless for me now.
