Radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh’s familiar quip of being “your host for life” has a sobering new meaning as he battles -- and seems to be losing -- his ten-month struggle against lung cancer.
I began listening to Rush within days or so of the launching of his national program in August of 1988. Three decades of listening prompts me to view him from five dimensions: as a pioneering radio guy, a brilliant social commentator, a maligned conservative, a sterling professional, and a major figure in American history.

Can't begin to put into words what Rush has meant to me over the last 30 plus years. With all his personal battles he has won this may be a hill too far. God Bless the guy.

Rush sure sounds great these days.
I pray that God sends him healing Angels. He performs miracles each and every day.
And I can’t stand the thought of losing him.

What a tragic loss it will be if we lose Rush. I can’t think of anybody who could even come close to replacing him. There is no one out there with his knowledge and political acumen.

Rush will pass just as we all will. Here's hoping that it is a long time into the future. But when he does we will be flooded with the most hate filled tweets, columns, pod casts, interviews etc. ever. To borrow a quote from Diana Feinstein, "the evil dogma runs deep within them". To them that sad day will become one of their most celebrated moments. Lord, please be with Rush and all who suffer.

Rush has been a pioneer in his profession in so many ways. He broke ground for AM radio to come back full throttle, and he also make the careers of many prominent television personalities, like Hannity for one. Chris Matthews also subbed for Rush back in the day as well. I doubt most of us would ever have heard of Walter E. Williams, Mark Steyn, Dr. Sowell if they hadn't been mentioned or filled in for him on his show.
I am so sorry that at a point in his life he is finally so happy in his personal life, that he gets thrown a challenge like this cancer. His character will shine, and has been shining, through this latest issue for him. God bless and keep you Rush in His holy hands.

Beautiful post,#5!
Rush - his very name evokes so many heartfelt emotions that each of us could probably spend days sharing memories of these past thirty plus years. It is amazing how you can develop such a close and unbreakable bond with someone whom you’ve never met in person. But, we have probably spent as much quality time with Rush as with any other good friend in our lives. We know him, and we love him. He is truly family.
Mike Landry is right about Rush’s importance to our country. His influence for freedom and the American Ideal has been, and is, equal to that of any of our great historical American patriots.
All of these “Dittoheads”, and “Rush babies” and “Rush grand babies” and everyone who has learned at the feet of Professor Limbaugh has a duty to carry on and stand strong for all of the great things that have bound us together over the years. My prayer is that God will bless Rush with improved health and many more hours at the Golden EIB Microphone. We aren’t ready to lose him. We will never lose his influence.

I'm sick and tired of these "pre-mortems" being written since Rush's last radio update on his treatment status.
Yes, we all will die. Yes, it's often too soon. Yes, he's irreplaceable. But he is HERE now, doing what he was born to do.
I'd appreciate it if we could just take it a day at a time, and give him the prayers, support, and respect he is so deeply owed.
How must it feel for him to see these horrible columns and stories?!?!?!

#10, Rush is a realist. He is the “Mayor of Realville”. I don’t think for one minute that Rush feels badly about the outpouring of genuine love and respect for him.
I speak as someone who has lost a close loved one to this dreaded disease. The visits and memories and words were a comforting blessing. We all understand that only God knows the length of our days. Prayers can add to the time that might not otherwise have been enjoyed together. That is what we all hope for Rush.

The old folks used to say give me my flowers now, while I can enjoy them. People who've lost a loved one to a condition like cancer know the importance of letting those loved ones know how much you love and appreciate them. It's an opportunity that you don't want to miss, and it's a blessing to receive such outpouring of love. If Rush beats this, he's lost nothing by the show of love.

When radio bible teacher Walter R. Martin died and his show was canceled, WLAC radio put Rush Limbaugh on in that time slot. Rush's wonderful voice captured me immediately and I was hooked. That is when I found out I was a conservative! It is wonderful that he and Kathryn found each other! Do you still grin about Dan's Bake Sale?

I can't imagine turning on the radio between 12 and 3 and not hearing Rush. It will be like losing a close friend and confidant. He has done more for conservatism than anyone in my lifetime, giving voice to what I thought and showing me a lot of other people felt just as I did on many issues.

This is an accurate and wonderful article about RUSH and his impact for good throughout the land and even beyond. Conservatives had been marginalized by the media and many politicians but RUSH came on the scene and turned that PC travesty around. RUSH speaks the language of America daily, fresh, interesting and grounded in his faith and the U.S. Constitution. He continually stirs excitement about the endless possibilities our country offers each American because of our freedom. Thank you RUSH, for your wisdom & fun throughout these many years for adults and children alike! Blessings & prayers.
