The Decepticon senator from Alaska, Lisa Murkowski, is the Nikki Haley of the senate. After voting against Judge Kavanaugh, today, sensing the danger, she changes her position on Judge Amy Coney Barrett.
Knowing she would likely be kicked out of office by Alaska voters for blocking the second conservative Trump nominee to the Supreme Court, Murkowski switches her position and announces she will vote to support Judge Amy Coney Barrett next week.
“I believe that the only way to put us back on the path of appropriate consideration of judicial nominees is to evaluate Judge Barrett as we would want to be judged: on the merits of her qualifications,

“A political animal”, Murkowski cannot help but see the political tide turning. In June, President Trump tweeted a warning about his coming to Alaska and supporting anyone “with a pulse” who ran against her. His tweets are in the article...

Murkie must have been really feeling alone lately to have flipped like this. That freeze-marginalize-destroy tactic really works.

" Lisa Murkowski, is the Nikki Haley of the senate" - This was the best line of the article. Pay attention voters! Haley is the new golden girl for the establishment GOPe in 2024. You'll be seeing/hearing more from her after Trump is reelected. She is the female Bush 43. Milquetoast go along to get along reach across the aisle republican backstabber.

Since the big issue for many is abortion, it should not be anything of concern for Alaska, since Alaska allowed legal abortions even prior to 1973 Roe decision.
Nothing would change for her constituents.

Surprised she didn't vote "present" like she did with Kavanaugh and like Obama did in Chicago for many years. She never really earned this Senate seat. She inherited it from Daddy.

I'll accept her vote, but kick her out anyway Alaska! She can usually be counted on to vote with the democrats, so this one good vote does not exonerate her.

After a satisfying Trump victory in November, it would be a special dessert if the republicans could maintain senate control with Collins being defeated. I cannot stand that drama queen RINO who is totally unreliable on key issues. You can count on democrat opposition. You should be able to count on republican unity, and Collins is only reliable as a wild card.

There are no turncoats in the demoslut party. Only in the Republican party. Imagine what a person like Flake, Romney, or Murkowski in the demoslut party. They wouldn't last long or be heard from again.

How generous and selfish. Might lose your perky little job and now you roll over to the wishes of your constituents. Lovely, just lovely.

She's voting for Barret to protect herself, not serve the American public. She's a loose cannon and should be replaced with a more stable, constitutional-leaning person.

Murkowski faced a confirmation hearing that opened absolutely ZERO problems with Barrett. In fact, Barrett was spectacular. The dems just whined that their judicially bogus policies, like BOCare might get tossed out. Barrett said she will follow the written law and that is exactly what she should do. It is exactly the last thing the dems want their judges to do. But they didn't win the 2016 election so they are out of luck.
So, HOW do you reject a extremely qualified candidate from your own party when you are fully legally empowered to confirm them? Collins is in a tough fight so she might get a pass but Murkowski has NO GOOD REASON and she knows it. If she voted no, Trump would be her personal gadfly in 2024 and she would be primaried into retirement. Maybe that should happen anyway but Murkowski is not about to call down a thunderbolt on herself if she doesn't have to.
