Military flyovers are a time-honored tradition that are greeted with roars from throngs of patriotic fans at NFL stadiums all over the country. However, given that there are virtually no fans at any NFL stadiums during the pandemic, flyovers over near empty stadiums don’t make a ton of sense. That fact was grasped, discussed, and recorded–unknowingly–by Fox broadcasters Troy Aikman and Joe Buck on Sunday as the pair were caught panning the flyovers on a hot mic.(Snip) Buck: “That’s your hard-earned money and your tax dollars at work.” Aikman: “That stuff ain’t happening with [a] Kamala-Biden ticket

Those sports flyovers are considered training flights by the military, and to maintain flying proficiency must be accomplished one way or the other. If the NFL goes bankrupt they would still be flown.

Joe Buck is a tiresome little creep that Fox hs pulled out for sports events like this and the final games leading up to the World Series. He is a tiresome “expert” who never played any sport in his weaselly little life - not even in school. If it hadn’t been for his father Jack Buck’s being a sportscaster for a MLB team, Joe would never have been tapped to do that. A privileged brat who never got over it.

leave it to the NFL to ruin things. The best part of the football game was watching the bands. Now its More important to hear the dumb commentators. So the bands are no longer shown on TV. Now the NFL doesn't like the fly overs. geez, those fly overs showed the people how great America is. and thats why they fly over must be eliminated. thank God for high school football and bands. I think the kids would appreciate the flyovers more then the NFL

If you ever mistakenly thought that professional sports did not fall into the toilet, you have an opportunity to adjust that thinking. How low must the self esteem and sense of honor be for these two men? Like Toobin just found out, Aikman and Buck have learned there is no such thing as a cold mic. Now, nobody care.

Got to be more careful about a hot mic. They are entitled to their opinions, of course. But were better off regarding their fans before they spoke on the hot mic. They knocked flyovers because it's a waste of taxpayer dollars and Obama would be less wasteful.
RIGHT!
Obama sent pallets of cash totaling $1.7 billion to Iran as part of the nuclear deal in 2015. Much of that money went to terrorists. How many flyovers can we get for $1.7 billion?

Pilots, all pilots, need regular flying time to remain proficient, and safe. These fly-overs require good formation flying skills, visual navigation skills, target location, orienting to assigned target approach axis, and the critical one - TOT . This is Time On Target which in military missions means that aircraft are arriving over the target, from different directions at very short spacing intervals, perhaps 30 seconds, making them safer from the anti-aircraft, and avoiding a midair collision over target. TOT is critical for military, and for a fly-by.
These fly-overs are excellent training missions on basic military flying skills, NOT a waste of fuel.
These athletes don't know much about much.

We record any sports events we want to see. Then wait until at least a half hour after the broadcast begins to watch our video. This gives us a lot of fast forward time to use throughout the game. With Joe Buck, the mute button the remote is pure gold.

Well, I messed that up. Correction:
This gives us a lot of fast forward time to use to skip over commercials and junk throughout the game.

Nobody said you had to be smart or patriotic to read a teleprompter or to tell people what they can see for themselves while watching a game.

Agree with Rush, this doesn't sound spontaneous.
Years ago, NBC's Chris Collingsworth made ugly comments when Rush Limbaugh was shown in the crowd at a game, he's been on my poop list since. I've added a couple more names to that list today.

Very disappointing but perhaps predictable these days that the "elite" (which pretty much includes top sports commentators and athletes) get to a point where they no longer share nor even understand the values of normal Americans. In this case, they have lost sight of how much Americans love and value their military services. In our family, the flyovers are looked forward to and held in awe even more than for whatever game or event (like the Rose Parade) at which they occur.
The elites don't get it. We do. We love our country and our military.

All the sports readers talk too much, including the sideline tarts. Please let us watch the games in peace; that is for those that are left. Some of us still love watching sports.

Several years ago I started recording a game or two that I thought would be good ones. I did that just to avoid the endless commercials during the way too many “breaks in the action” designed to cram as many commercials as possible down our throats. I could also avoid the cliched nattering of the announcers and especially the banal questions posed by the obligatory chick with a mic on the sideline.
Now, after the kneeling insults from the players I record no games nor do I watch any games. Pro sports is dead to me forever. I’ll watch the golf majors especially The Masters with its limited number of sales pitches but that’s it. I’ll never be back.

I am so disgusted with professional athletes these days. They are millionaires who could play a game better than other people and went on to professional sports. They have PR people and managers and lots of money and houses and fly all over the world playing their games. If they went to college, they had tudors to get them through because most of them are not that bright. Some even have their own jets. How dare they put down our military like that.

Rush just spent time on this today, bless him. I will never look at these two the same way again, and will undoubtedly avoid any games they are covering. What was facsciinating however was they referred to it as the Harris/Biden ticket.....which is what it is.

This was an in-kind donation to the Biden campaign beyond personal limits and a violation of campaign finance law.

In my experience at Iowa, the football players were “lacking” in the IQ Department! I was stuck in Hillcrest where all the men with scholarships were housed! I’m 6’2” and probably weighed 160 in college. I felt like a punk at lunch. Then I started to sit with them and got to be friends! Felt like Einstein! Troy Aikman, I’m certain is no scholar! He’s not smart enough! Joe Buck would have been housed in Burge my first year. It was all girls!

Gee , lemme see--- Pretty sure that every NFL stadium is located in or near a large city (s). Don't suppose they are also doing this for the millions that aren't in the middle of a sacred discussion over a sport that is barely holding on by its teeth ..?. Let me add - SELF INDUCED as illustrated by this article...

I don’t know anyone who thinks that pipsqueak Joe Buck is good at his job. We all make fun of him. I thought Aikman was a good guy, but I thought he stunk up the place calling the Chiefs/Bills game last night. Thank goodness for the mute button because, if they’re stupid enough to like Harris/Biden, and they don’t know how important flyovers are, they’re too stupid to listen to. I guess we’ll be waiting forever to hear an apology to our great military pilots.

To start with, I've never had any need for a pro athlete, and that includes sportscasters and anyone associated with them. Also never needed any celebrity, whether from sports or entertainment venues. But I have needed a cop, and a doctor, and a teacher. There are a few more I have needed, but none of them were overpaid clowns who contributed nothing to society.

When Aikman said "Kamala Biden", I thought reverse psychology for a split second, slap the reality of that possibility into America's face. But no, Buck and Aikman were too happy with themselves, too self-righteous as they made their comments.
I'll suggest they think they're closer to Hollywood and our elite betters than to "average" Americans. I will not be disrespected by such punks.

Buck is to sports as George Will is to baseball or a fish to a bicycle kind of thing. Irrelevant. Aikman has no idea what he is talking about, from what I remember. Only saw bits of him talking and is was too boring to watch for more than 5 seconds. Haven't watched a NFL game since the last Steeler Superbowl.
