Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: a woman of considerable power joins a man of considerable power onstage for a televised debate. The woman is cool, composed. She knows her stuff—she’s “done the homework,” let’s say. The man, meanwhile, is somehow both wicked and aloof. He lies without finesse, which doesn’t stop him from guzzling the available air time as if it’s his right. Their encounter is a Pyrrhic victory for womankind, a pluckable symbol for women who believe that their best selves could flourish in the professional sphere, if only men would stop intruding.
What happened between Senator Kamala Harris and Vice-President Mike Pence
I wonder what she was watching. i saw a pathetic woman who tried to use some cutesie turn of the head to appear appealing. She smirked the entire time and pretended that she was saying something meaningful. No wonder the woman has been barely seen and that she didn't even manage to garner 1% in the primaries. This poor author is really one of the great brainwashed females who cannot see beyond her sex to judge anything. Shame on her, feminism was supposed to be about being treated equally and Harris deserved a complete drudging for that failure of a performance in the political ring.

#1 I bypass NYT, New Yorker, Atlantic, WaPo, Ass Press.Mother Jones, the Nation, NR, etc. posts. I don;t need any more convincing that they're evil.

Articles like this prove leftists live in their own make believe reality. The ultimate is they think they can recreate a world without God. Sad. . .

This author! My god! Does she truly think in this style or is she just trying to impress everyone with her magnificent education? Sheesh!

Pretty obvious that logic, civics, and the ability to recognize the concept of right and wrong are no longer taught in journalism schools. This desperately unhappy propaganda hack who wrote this drivel clearly majored in women are always the victims.
Pathetic and scary way of dealing with Life.

I could not make it through this tripe. Where on earth was the author going with such nonsense, beginning with, “I didn’t watch the debate but instead relied on others......”. Well i didn’t read your article but instead relied on fellow Ldotters.

The link introduced me to Outline which I intend to try, so, that's a good thing.
Harris pouts and poses in rehearsed ways and has for a long time.
If anyone was doing digitable-ready blackface it was she.

That’s a lot of words trying to explain why people don’t like Kamala Harris. Maybe because she’s abrasive and humorless and has an annoying voice. I agree it’s harder for women. But whining about it doesn’t help.

Harris lied about Lincoln and painted a picture of her "Immigrant mother who came to the US when she was 19 to start over. In truth, her mother came as a student to attend a very expensive university and married a wealthy Jamaican man whose family owned African slaves. Then after having an anchor baby, they moved to Canada to raise her. There is nothing authentic about Harris, but then that is true of most of the democrat elites.

I watched the debate. The remarks in the article were not connected in any way to what actually took place. I saw a man discuss the achievements of his administration, and I saw a woman smirking and grimacing as she defended a non-existent platform.
Sen Harris showed the humanity of a Rottweiler on attack. She treated Pence as though he were an accused criminal in California and she was the prosecutor in the case.
The article would not be accepted as factual by any teacher of English I have ever had.
It was false from beginning to end.

Unlike this monumentally untalented writer, I did watch the debate. I saw obnoxious, unprepared, nasty and stupid. I saw Kamala Harris.

I started to ignore this article, because I know from past experience that this source is very leftist, and posts a lot of garbage propaganda. But, for some reason, I decided to take a look.
It was a mistake. Soon enough it was clear that this was another leftist propaganda piece, full of garbage. I stopped after about 6 or 8 paragraphs. Use of words like 'mansplaining' are an important indicator that the author is a lunatic whose views aren't really worth wasting your time on.
OK, firming up the rule to never waste time on New Yorker's trash. Never.

Well, there's another 12 minutes of someone else's navel gazing I'll never get back. Leave it to one of our Mod Squad members to make a mess on the Salon carpet.

I agree with Poster #9, I couldn't get past the first few paragraphs before I gave up. I have a 15 year old granddaughter that writes better than this 'journalist!'
