NBC's Savannah Guthrie again asked President Trump at a Thursday town hall about "New York Times" reporting that he owes roughly $400 million, some of which might be owed to foreign banks such as Deutsche Bank. Trump essentially confirmed the veracity of that reporting, but noted that compared to the total value of all of his properties, $400 million is "peanuts." "Did you ever hear the expression underleveraged?" (Snip) When they do they see how incredible a company is but more importantly they see where this debt is. No, I don’t owe Russia money, I don’t owe -- I owe a very, very small -- it’s called mortgages.

Comments:

Video. What happens when know-nothings start mucking around in income tax returns, trying to find something they already believe will be there. Compared to the value of the properties involved, $400 million is indeed peanuts.

Well, duh. Most guys like Trump have some debt on their properties. Does Dimwit Guthrie think that you go build a multi-billion dollar hotel or office tower by digging quarters out of the living room couch? Heck, I have a mortgage on my house. Yeah, I could go raid my retirement funds and pay it off, but maybe I want to save that money for something else. That's kind of like what Trump is doing. Just on a different scale.

She didn't ask questions, she attacked him trying to get him to say something about his finances. I dare her to do the same to her billionaire boss. Bet they have a few debts too. She was out of line the entire time.

One of Trump's shortcomings is being unprepared to tersely answer questions. His ad lib responses become long and wearisome and often incoherently wander off subject.

If Trump had this amount of debt but no assets or cash in his name, then of course he'd be in big trouble. However, as he said, he owns a lot of things that offset the debt. At the end of the day, it's what is in your name versus what isn't in your name.

Real estate investments are usually highly leveraged. (For those in Rio Linda and for Savannah Guthrie, that means that there are mortgages (debt) on the properties.) It is such standard business procedure that the tax laws for partnerships take it into account and grant some favorable treatment for mortgage debt.

This dialog really showcases our guy's rambling way of expressing himself. #3 is right about that. Because I like the guy and have so much respect for what he's done, I find it kind of endearing and funny. Like how he points out how great his properties are, and inserts a dig at San Francisco when he mentions the Bank of America building. Great men are entitled to their little eccentricities.

Former President Barack Obama will head to Philadelphia on Wednesday to campaign on behalf of the Biden-Harris ticket, his first appearance on the trail thus far. As RedState has been covering extensively, Hunter Biden’s emails have laid out more evidence of influence peddling and corruption among Joe Biden and his son. Former denials have been blown up as it appears certain that the former VP was well aware of what his son was doing. The latest email drop even asserts that Joe Biden was getting monetary kickbacks. (Snip) the FBI has supposedly had this information since last year. Now, we know they are investigating, (Snip) Instead of looking into whether laws were broken by the corruption of Joe and Hunter Biden, the FBI is hot on the case of whether the emails are “Russian misinformation.”

In practical terms, that means that, since the evidence wasn't gathered using legal process (especially not grand jury subpoenas or search warrants) Giuliani is utterly unfettered by grand jury rule regarding the use and disclosure of the material.
