While answering a question about how she would rule in potential Supreme Court cases involving LGBTQ+ people's rights during her confirmation hearing Tuesday, Judge Amy Coney Barrett used the term "sexual preference"—a term classified as "offensive" by GLAAD. Barrett used the term while denouncing discrimination against gay and lesbian people. "Senator, I have no agenda, and I do want to be clear: I have never discriminated on the basis of sexual preference and would not ever discriminate on the basis of sexual preference," Barrett said. "Like racism, I think discrimination is abhorrent." Later in the day, Senator Mazie Hirono followed up

And they might be right on a technicality; children who later become homosexual after being raped by homosexual pedophiles didn't necessarily have a choice in the matter.

I saw several Dem senators questioning ACB today. They’re all scum. No morals, no scruples, no shame, no loyalty to America or the Constitution.

Part of the alphabet of perverts includes bisexuals.
A bisexual person, at a given time, exercises sexual preference, when they choose a sex partner for the night.

I wish she hadn't caved, for she was right the first time. The majority of that community chooses the lifestyle for whatever reason suits them. The past decade, Hollywood has had a whole new batch of freshly minted gays, people who are bored and want some excitement in their lives. Except for the kids who get molested by adults then turn out to be gay, kind of like Milo did, those are who have my sympathies.

It’s almost impossible today to keep up with the English language words, that if used, are “offensive” to someone!

That airhead Maxie asked those questions. Later, she even asked her if she had ever sexually abused anyone! I wouldn’t be surprised if they find “someone” to accuse her of that. Democrats really are evil.

Oh here we go; she's apologizing already. What the world is wrong with sexual preference other than it's abnormal that there is sexual preference beyond man wants girl and girl wants man. They're wrong, and we need to stop co-signing their deconstruction of normal society. Sigh. . .

End these stupid worthless hearings ASAP. They are a waste of time. Barrett should never have apologized to Hirono, but that would have been rising to her bait. Just get it over with.

Her first mistake of the confirmation process, letting the crazies redefine normal words into offensive phrases. You can never win if you let professional offense takers make up the rules.

Democrats will not be able to claim that ACB raped someone, so sometime next week, they will trot out someone with some bogus claim that ACB used an anti-gay slur or said something offensive about gay people. The charge will be completely unproveable and more important, will be impossible to disprove. I'm sure they already have this person lined up. They will then demand an FBI investigation and another set of hearings because of the "seriousness of the allegations." I can see it like it's already happened.

Do you suppose somebody who takes offense at the term "sexual preference" would be offended if we said that attitude was either stupid or insane or both? Or maybe we should just call it racist, loot their business, and torch their neighborhood?
Language bullies on the Left demand that nobody offend them, even prior to knowing what offends them. Decades ago we occasionally joked about the Left wishing the First Amendment gave us Freedom From Speech; but it's no joke any more.

I'm not impressed with her. She talks too much. She validates liberalism by answering questions that are irrelevant, none-of-their-business, impertinent, leading, misleading, and harmful to the Constitution. You can't do business with Democrats. She may be brilliant and a good judge, but she's naive and has poor political instincts.
Freedom needs gutter fighters, not accomodaters.

In this case, while she must deal with these cretins, I believe she needed to play the part to soothe the Demorats.
As she is a consummate professional it won’t affect her decisions I am sure.
Lucky that I’m not in her shoes, later. I’m afraid my payback would displease them.

So, how does Hirono explain DeBlasio’s wife, the “former lesbian”? If that case isn’t sexual preference, I don’t know what is.

Amy said "I certainly didn't mean and would never mean to use a term that would cause any offense in the LGBTQ community. So if I did, I greatly apologize for that."
It's an honest answer, NOT a cave. It's no doubt true that she did not intend to cause any offence. She did not suggest that she in fact caused any offence, and she did not suggest whether or not she agrees that the sexual proclivities of the LGBTQ people are choices. Her answer can be reasonably be construed to intend "I cannot help it if any LGBTQ person was offended by my words "sexual preference." The word "if" in her answer did not concede that a single person was offended.
Amy is not talking too much. Her answers are clear, concise, and responsive. I've watched many SC confirmation hearings, and have never seen any SC justice appointee do as well. She reminds me of Sir Thomas More answering Cromwell's (high treason related) perjury trap questions in the movie "A Man for All Seasons." Thomas More was masterful! And so is Amy.

I can proudly attest that I have forgotten what the acronym GLAAD stands for. I googled it and lasted about 15 seconds on their website. Made it as far as "homosexuality is not a psychological disorder" .......
