COVID cases are on the rise, or so we are told daily by a hysterical media. (snip) Is a “case” simply a positive test?
The CDC answers this question with a “case definition.” A case is not just a positive test. Instead what is needed is, “Presumptive laboratory evidence AND either clinical criteria OR epidemiologic evidence.” Notice the AND, meaning not simply a positive test.
Yet what the media trumpets as “surging cases” are only positive tests. There is no discussion of whether or not any of the individuals with positive tests are showing symptoms or are actually sick

The answer to this question is YES!!! This is ridiculous about the surges and who really cares. It's no worse than the flu or maybe not as bad. They have a successful treatment. If they can cure Chris Cristie then........

Does the MSM ever tell the truth?

And just because you test positive means nothing about your chances of getting sick...

I reckon the death count is more important. And that keeps trending down. So, yeah, the virus is now
about like the ordinary virus. More testing, more healthy young people getting some exposure...not such a big deal now. I know a guy in Washington D.C. who is up there in age, a bit overweight, yet came through it with no problem.

When I went to get my flu shot, I talked to the nurse practitioner and she said many of the cases they see are mild to asymptomatic. I'm 70. I have been working through it all and am still not scared a bit. I am so profoundly sick of masks I could scream. It's impossible to express how much I loathe masks.

Of course they are. Joe Biden will provide the miracle cure by the second week in November if only we are smart enough to elect him.

A false positive rate of just 3% would find 25,000 cases per day, based on reported testing and test false positive rates.

As oOn watches college football, One constantly sees the change in schedules due to players testing positive or contact tracing or some other COVID related problem. But not once, Even ESPN, has the networks reported a hospitalization or death of these athletes. Its as if the virus doesn't kill young people or something!

More testing means the chance of more positive tests. It doesn't mean people who test positive are being rushed to the hospital. I had to get tested before a business trip a couple of weeks ago, and the media have scared people with so many symptoms, that people are getting tested for every little sneeze. Fewer people with the virus are needing medical attention.

They don't want this nation back up and running full steam ahead, so of course they are going to scrape the bottom of the barrel for more numbers. They still are refusing to discuss hospital admittance numbers too. How many of these people were false positives or died from something else.
I suspect there is going to be a great deal of walking back all of this when it comes time to produce numbers for how many people died of strokes, lung disease, cancer, heart attacks, murder, suicides and accidents. Because all that death has been counted as covid.

More tests simply mean more results. You may want to look at the % that are positive but even that could be going down by more being tested. There is no good way to know if its getting better or worse.

Don't take seriously what the author says about how the CDC defines a "case". He didn't read his source material carefully enough.
Following his link, the CDC defines a "confirmed case" as one that "meets confirmatory laboratory evidence", period. No clinical symptoms required. And "confirmatory laboratory evidence" is "detection of ... coronavirus 2 ribonucleic acid ...using a molecular amplification detection test", in other words, a PCR test. So "case" really does mean "positive test".
What Joondeph was talking about is what the CDC called a "probable case", i.e. one that is diagnosed without benefit of a PCR test. That's where you need clinical symptoms plus laboratory evidence, like the presence of antibodies.

Cases may be surging. What is not surging it is the mortality rate. What is most likely is that people are finding out that there are preventative measures they can take which will increase the likelihood of a mild or asymptomatic case. Most people would probably prefer, if they did get the plague, to remain at home and recover. So there are probably a lot of people doing what I have been doing - taking the supplements that have already been proven to be helpful. But I prefer her not to contract it? Of course. But its a virus and it’s out there, and meanwhile I have to live my life.
