A 15-year-old girl who has lived in the U.S. with her family since she was an infant is now alone in government custody and facing deportation after she was arrested by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials at a Texas hospital. The teenager, who was born in Mexico and does not have legal status, went to a hospital in Edinburg, Texas, with her aunt last week after experiencing gallbladder-related pain, her attorney, Sarah Valdes, told CBS News. She was then referred to undergo surgery in another hospital in San Antonio. But the girl and her aunt, who is also undocumented,

The girl can go to Mexico with her ill gotten education. She should be ahead of the rest of those her age being able to speak English. She can live with her aunt and when she is finished with school in Mexico, she can get a good job there. If anyone whats to put blame on someone, they can put it on her parents who brought her to the US illegally. Guaranteed, she and her family did not pay a dime for the hospital care or the surgery.

Glossed over in the article: strongly implies her parents are also here illegally. Pick them up and send them all home to Mexico together. Her parents can accompany her back to their home in Mexico.
And the girl has covid? So what? She wouldn't have even know if she hadn't gone in for her tax payer covered surgery.

Exactly right, OP.
Another shaggy-dog sob story to influence mush-minds who make decisions (and law) based on emotion. What about all the legal American citizens who have to foot the welfare and freebies bill, or didn't get non-elective surgery when they should have because she took the slot?

Are we supposed to get all lathered up about a family that broke the law and entered here illegally?.. Sorry, but there are consequences to actions and they knew the risk. I am sorry she is ill and they will fix her, because that is what we do. They need to go back to Mexico and enter the right way. If I pulled a stunt like that in Mexico, I will be the guest of their government and it is not a pretty situation to be in a Mexican prison where you have to pay for your meals or starve. Enough of this bleeding heart stuff. Yeah, we are all the descendants of immigrants but mine came the right way through Ellis Island and went through the hoops to gain entry. A lot of people don't know, but not everyone gained entrance. People who couldn't support themselves or had no sponsor or were ill or had a criminal record went sent back to wherever they came from. We need to remember that.

We as humans and more specifically Americans have a whole lot of compassion. We consider it a strength, and thats fine. What isn't fine is people who take unfair advantage of it and suck us dry, first expecting it and then relying on it. The best move is not to allow ourselves to be trod upon in the first place, but until that happens we must cut off those who already have. Yes, it feels like carp, but so does being invaded.

The girl belongs in HER country. Which is Mexico. No amount of tear jerking sob stories are going to change this simple fact. To extrapolate #1, she could apply to a US college, get accepted, finish her degree and THEN choose to return or persuade any employer here to hire her. She is 15, anything is possible.

Just because your family snuck in here years ago does NOT mean you have tenure! There really does need to be a reckoning in this country over the policies that encouraged and gave shelter and aid to those who were not supposed to be here in the first place. I'd confiscate a lot of personal property...starting with Harry Reid, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, etc etc etc etc.

And why oh why does CBS (and almost every other news outlet in America, now including yahoo, etc.) not allow comments on such (or any) articles? Because the majority of comments would be very similar to the above comments here on Lucianne.com. And 90% of the media does its best to silence any voice that does not support the progressives' narrative and agenda.

"Spent her life in the US".......AND SO? That fact, if it is even true, is meaningless if she is not a citizen.
Send her home to her own country. And don't come back.

#2, not necessarily. I know two people who, up until fairly recently, were undocumented aliens because their parents brought them to the US as dependent children. The parents managed to get their own status straightened out, but not their children's. Long, involved, and different stories, for both of them.
Both did what they had to do. They got their lawyers, filled out all the papers, paid all the fees (government and lawyer) and fines (sometimes more than once, as the regulations changed over the years), and now they are both, not just residents, but are self-supporting American citizens.
I also blame the parents. In one case, I think the problem was just ignorance. In the other, I think the parents thought they could just game the system. and the kids ended up bearing the brunt their actions.

Even tossed out on her ear, she is still ahead of those she left behind. Be a good Democrat and go home and flaunt your wealth. Take Tia Maria with you.

So, an illegal daughter has to gone back to her own country, and her parents should have to go too. Isn't this what's to be expected in a normal sane non-democrat world?

15, sorry but not sorry. From the article, "Fearing reprisals, the teenager's parents, who live in the U.S., declined to be interviewed through Valdes".
Her parents are both illegal. What reprisals? Being shipped back to Mexico. I also have direct personal experience with the process to get a minor child citizenship if one or both parents are citizens. It is easy.
If her parents were legal why is the kid considered to be parentless? Because they're abandoning her for fear of gett8ng kicked out, too. But don't you worry! They've already arranged for the illegal aunt to meet her in Mexico and they'll be back here 48 hours later.

I feel for the girl but her parents have been here for FIFTEEN YEARS. It can be done but they obviously do not care about her.

No mention is made of her parents, which probably means they're living comfortably in Mexico. The girl just had an illegal 10+ year all expenses paid trip to the USA courtesy of American taxpayers. Send her home now.

Send her back to Mexico. Then, when she is an adult, she can apply for immigration legally.
But only once she repays this country for all the tax dollars wasted educating her and taking care of her medical issues while she was here illegally!!!!

So, she stole an education. She needs to be deported as a thief, in addition to being an illegal alien.
And of course, she probably has no intention of paying for her medical care, that will be stolen, too.

Use of a healthcare environment to target illegals is an immoral place to enforce the law. Why not station ICE officers at the doors to elementary schools?

My tax dollars supporting this young Illegal Alien and her parents are okay with me. Today, I'm willing to take my chance and have my tax dollars spent on all the Illegal Aliens in this country. I have more hopes for these people than the generation of American white MORONs and the black Entitlement addicted UNDESIRABLES this country has produced. No demand for Reparations, no NCAA, no Affirmative Action, no BLM, no Sucker Punches, no massive black Abortions, no ANTIFA, no mob shoplifting, no McDonald food attacks, no black mob fightings, no Police Killings, and no pontificating black race card slave driving Democrats!

Imagine what Mexico would do to an American citizen under the same circumstances? DEPORT!

I am sick of sad stories of bleeding this country dry. American citizens go without while Washington fights for illegals. Recently I heard about someone receiving food assistance that isn't entitled and they send the food to relatives in Venezuela. We all pay for their hospitalizations, and food assistance.

The longer you break US Immigration laws by illegally entering and/or remaining in the US, the more the left wing media thinks you should rewarded with permanent residency. It is called false compassion.

The girl's family has broken our nation's flimsy immigration laws for a long time, receiving free public education and whatever other goodies we offer to attract Newcomers, so they should be allowed to continue to do so. She is a victim of a cruel system, yet received costly surgery that someone else will have to pay for because illegal aliens in the USA enjoy a superset of civil rights. Uninsured Americans are hounded into the grave by bill collectors, but the undocumentidads simply shrink bank into the shadows, laughing.
