New look at police stats shows
the spread of violent crime
across Minneapolis this summer

Original Article

Violent crime has surged to record highs across Minneapolis this year, rising in more prosperous neighborhoods that typically experience few such incidents while continuing to exact the heaviest toll in the city’s poor, ethnically diverse areas. Through last week, the city had logged 3,674 violent crimes—defined as homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assaults—up 17% from the previous five-year average for this period, according to a Star Tribune analysis of police statistics. City Council members, who have gained national attention for their calls to defund the Minneapolis Police Department, last week shifted focus and pressed Chief Medaria Arradondo to address crime in their wards.

Comments:

The same city officials who defunded the police now complain about the lack of police. Like the man says, "liberalism is a mental disorder," and a dangerous one at that.

It takes a year to build a house and a couple hours to burn it down. They've destroyed their police department by backing the criminals and it will take many years of policy reversal to correct it which they haven't even done yet.

I'm starting to get suspicious that the big city democrat officials actually don't give a rip if the middle class and the employers up and leave their city. Those leaving include many conservatives and therefore, votes against democratic control. The benefit of having that city in the democrat's clutches, for life, may be what is causing this absolute abomination.

Vote them out, if you are bright enough to grasp what has caused this. I am skeptical that the voters of Minneapolis will figure it out and vote the other way. Just watch, these folks will re-elect 90% of those same idiots who have done this to them.

Minnesota schools, reopening amid a pandemic and a national reckoning over systemic racism, are sharpening their focus on the state’s decadeslong problems with achievement gaps and educational disparities. Around the state, schools are adding new staff to focus on equity in classroom instruction and hiring, and approving policies that define—and disavow—racism.(Snip) Minnesota’s educational gaps are stark; the most recent statewide test scores showed that 63% of white students met proficiency standards in math, compared with 26% of Black and American Indian students. Graduation rates have ticked up in recent years, but white students are still more likely to earn a diploma than students of color.

Texas’ largest county has been approving voter registrations even when people say they’re not citizens, according to a lawsuit announced Monday that found some of those people managed to cast ballots, too. The Public Interest Legal Foundation says it uncovered dozens of examples of people who registered in Harris County over the last two decades, either admitted they weren’t citizens or left the box blank, yet were registered anyway. They were removed from the rolls after they later stated, again, that they weren’t, in fact, citizens. The Public Interest Legal Foundation says there are others it didn’t catch, including new applicants.

Voters across Queens have received mail-in ballots for the 2020 presidential election marked for military use despite never having served in the armed forces—causing confusion and concerns over whether the ballots can or should be used. The misprint makes it appear that the voters received a “Military Absentee Ballot” instead of a “Military/Absentee Ballot,” leaving several borough residents who received the documents—including two Post journalists—worried that their votes might not be properly tallied. “I believe that’s just the tip of the iceberg,” said City Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer, referring to the constituents in his Sunnyside district who have reached out

President Trump on Monday taunted Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden for effectively refusing his request for a pre-debate drug test. “Joe Biden just announced that he will not agree to a Drug Test. Gee, I wonder why?” Trump tweeted ahead of his first debate with Biden in Cleveland on Tuesday. Chris Wallace, the moderator of the first presidential debate Tuesday night, insists he will try to remain “as invisible as possible.” That would certainly be a welcome change from his performance in the final 2016 debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. A lot of Democrats no doubt assume Wallace will go too easy on the president simply because he hosts a talking-heads show for the “conservative” Fox News network. But Wallace is not an admirer of Trump. Is anyone really surprised that Donald Trump’s tax affairs are opaque? Or that he is not as rich as he claims? Is it really all that horrifying that he has for years claimed business losses in order to offset his significant income tax liability? The New York Times’s big Trump tax files splash on Sunday is therefore something of a flop.
