Why Joe Biden is like Captain
Kirk’s friend gone bad

Classics historian Victor Hanson, a Stanford University professor with the Hoover Institute, has stacks of advanced degrees, ancient language manuscripts and best-selling books in his Palo Alto office. But the man shows true brilliance this week when drawing from 1960s pop culture to find the perfect parallel for telepromptin’ Joe — an old friend of Captain Kirk gone rogue. “Similar is the famous scene in an episode of the old Star Trek series, depicting a near comatose on-air John Gill used as a televised prop by his puppeteers, in a utopian federation project gone haywire,” Hanson writes. FTA: “ Maximum respect to the sage from the Central Valley, who, like the Roman general Cincinnatus, would rather retire to the family farm than fight the nation’s battles, but does the latter reluctantly out of a sense of civic duty.” Cincinnatus after winning the nation’s battle did retire to the family farm rather than take power based on his victories. That is why Lord Byron, in Ode to Napoleon Bonaparte, referred to George Washington as the Cincinnatus of the West. Magnificent character. And now to see bi.den grasping for power like a suffocating fish. How rare the Cincinnatus quality.

I posted about this last week. Every time I see Biden I think of John Gill and his puppeteers. I feel honored that VDH has the same reaction I do.

A family who lost their Fresno area home in the Creek Fire said Gov. Gavin Newsom and vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris went on their property without permission. Newsom and Harris, in Fresno County to see areas ravaged by the fire, toured the Pine Right Elementary School when they crossed the road to walk around the destroyed house. The homeowners, not enthused that Harris used their property as a press backdrop, said neither had the right to be there. “Decent human beings that have character and class, wouldn’t air someone else’s misfortune on national television,” one family member said.

It’s just another day in locked down San Francisco, with mentally challenged drug addicts being among the few using the streets and parks of the Paris of the Pacific. Jaded city residents have become so accustomed to strange human sights they hardly shrug, but they did a double take this week when they saw and videotaped a junkie smoking meth while riding a skateboard and holding up a mattress in the breeze on a crumbling street. The deteriorating city has become so bad that the mostly liberal inhabitants are starting to turn on their progressive leaders.

Conservative guerilla lampoonist Sabo pulled off an epic win against Joe Biden, poking fun at the Democratic presidential candidate’s “If you don’t vote for me, you ain’t black” quip. The ex-Marine turned political artist transformed a backboard on a Venice Beach public basketball court into a billboard with a looming image of Biden, the basketball goal still intact, daring hoopsters with the following taunt: “Make this shot or you ain’t black.” In San Francisco and Los Angeles, Sabo also took aim at Nancy Pelosi and Kamala Harris in hilarious street posters titled “Blow Me Pelosi” and “Cops and Kooks.”

San Francisco, Calif. -- The Poopalosi protestor live streamed this performance piece from Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s residence in the posh Presidio Terrace neighborhood on YouTube. Believe it or not, thanks to District Attorney Chesa Boudin, this act is quasi-legal in San Francisco. When Boudin, a public defender who ran on an anti-police campaign platform, was elected in 2019, he promised not to prosecute so-called “quality of life” crimes, including public urination, defecation and prostitution. Within hours of posting on Friday, Lifes Mavrek, the moniker on YouTube of this Cuban-American vagabond, raised thousands of dollars and generated tens of thousands of views.

Sacramento, Calif. -- Sixty-four percent of California voters do not want Gov. Gavin Newsom to sign a bill to pay for transgender drugs and surgeries known to sterilize minors and adults, according to a new poll. The survey, conducted by Spry Strategies in conjunction with the Women’s Liberation Front, shows that conservative Christians and radical feminists, who have joined forces to oppose AB 2218, are more in step with California voters than state legislators. The controversial bill passed the Assembly 54-10 and the Senate 28-9 late last month, and now sits on Newsom’s desk awaiting his decision.

Where do Portland Antifans rest during the day between riots at night? In a hidden tent city near downtown, paid for and serviced by the city, according to a local citizen journalist. After capturing the encampment on video, the reporter was chased for several blocks by two men, one with a slingshot. The camp is one of several under the auspices of the Joint Office of Homeless Services. “It is entirely funded by the city of Portland, with start-up costs priced at $214,097 and ongoing support for all three sites expected at $155,488 monthly,” said the Portland sleuth.

San Francisco is working hard to lock down businesses and defund the police, but one Democrat didn’t get the memo. Speaker Pelosi, after the HairGate disaster, lunched Wednesday at the Pacific Union Club, an exclusive band of politically incorrect San Franciscans. While many cafes around the city close for good, her maskless meal reminds one that those in the know can still get a sit-down bite to eat with little ado. Nor have calls to eliminate the SFPD inconvenienced Ms. Pelosi. A Department of Homeland Security officer with a bomb sniffing dog walked the block before she went inside.

The California State Senate approved a bill on Friday to lower the reporting requirements for some cases of statutory rape. The measure, authored by a Democratic Assemblywoman who was reprimanded for accusations of sexual harassment by male staffers, would change the reporting requirements for mandated reporters if the perpetrator is younger than 21, the minor victim is 16 or older, and the sexual activity is consensual. Should it become law, high school teachers or counselors who know one of their 16-year-old students or counselees is having sex with a 20-year-old would no longer be required to report it to authorities.

The California Senate and Assembly are considering six odd pieces of legislation in the last week of the 2020 legislative session. They include: AB2218, which would fund sterilizing drugs and surgeries for children and adults with gender dysphoria. SB132, authored by Sen. Scott Wiener (D-SF), gives male inmates the legal right to live in women’s prisons and requires guards to use language confirming gender identities such as “transsexual, non-binary, two-spirit and māhū.” Another Wiener bill, SB145, lowers the penalties for adults who have sex will same-sex minors. The California Family Council includes these in its ranking of worst remaining bills. Correction*

Meanwhile, the San Francisco Police Department is decorating its precincts with materials celebrating Black Lives Matter, an organization calling for the defunding of the police. The CHP memo, a leaked roll call briefing document with the Border Division, directed officers to “remove all Thin Blue Line paraphernalia, including anything resembling it … immediately.” Around the same time, SFPD unveiled prominent Black Lives Matter posters to display in city police stations. The San Francisco Police Commission passed a resolution requiring the messaging. Correction*

A Fox News panel scolded and cut away from former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich after he linked liberal billionaire George Soros to the violent riots that have caused damage across the country over the last few months. “The No. 1 problem in almost all the cities is George Soros-elected, left-wing, anti-police, pro-criminal district attorneys who refuse to keep people locked up,” Gingrich said to a panel on Fox News’s Outnumbered on Wednesday. “Both Harris and Biden have talked very proudly about what they call progressive district attorneys. Progressive district attorneys are anti-police, pro-criminal, and overwhelmingly elected with George Soros’s money.

Liberal Fox News contributor Juan Williams seems unable to give President Donald Trump any credit for anything, not even multiple peace deals in the Middle East. On Tuesday, during an episode of The Five, Juan Williams claimed that the recent peace deals between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain that Trump negotiated a “distraction” and that rather than achieving peace they are “accelerating” the “chance of war” in the Middle East. Williams made his argument while he and his co-panelists were discussing Nancy Pelosi’s recent remarks that the peace deals were a “distraction.”

Pennsylvania’s highest court gave the Democratic Party a series of victories Thursday, including one allowing repairs to glitches and gray areas in the battleground state’s fledgling mail-in voting law and another that kicked the Green Party’s presidential candidate off the November ballot. The state Supreme Court, which has a 5-2 Democratic majority, granted the Democratic Party’s request to order a three-day extension of Pennsylvania’s Election Day deadline to count mailed-in ballots. And it ruled that the Green Party’s candidate for president did not strictly follow procedures for getting on the ballot in November and cannot appear on it.

This may only qualify as one of those “local news stories” for most of the media, but it could provide a chilling look at the future of law enforcement in America. A couple of weeks ago, some problems arose at an apartment complex in Aurora, Colorado. One of the residents had unwisely invited Robert Thompson, 47, to stay at the apartment he shared with his girlfriend. He did this despite Thompson having a lengthy rap sheet and a history of criminal behavior. True to form, Thompson quickly began causing trouble of an alarming kind, including exposing himself to some young girls, throwing a rock through someone’s window

Fox News has drawn our attention to the fact that George Soros is bankrolling the leftist district attorneys who are fostering so much rioting in America's blue cities, based on their refusal to prosecute looters and rioters. But probably not in the way they meant to. Here's what went down over at the semi-cheesy news commentary show called 'Outnumbered' whose format is a group of leggy women sitting on a circular sofa with some man in the news and grilling him with chick-like excited shouts and exclamations. It's now a Zoom thing without the leg business. And in this case, it led to a very unexpected outcome:
