Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, is offering a course entitled “How to Overthrow the State,” which includes encouraging students to engage in “producing a Manifesto,” and “writing a persuasive essay on rewriting history and confronting memory.” A course being offered at Washington and Lee for the fall semester focuses on encouraging students to think of ways they can “overthrow a sitting government,” according to the course description on the university’s website. “This course places each student at the head of a popular revolutionary movement aiming to overthrow a sitting government and forge a better society,” reads the course description.

Whenever you think things couldn't get any more weirder and horrifying, something new comes along.

If your goal is in the CIA, NSA, State Dept, military, law enforcement or government, I can see the benefit to something like this. It would be helpful to see it, before it becomes a reality. For example, its useful to know how someone might rob a business in order to provide better protection to said business. In my field, I often have to attempt to think like a criminal. Which is hard, because I dont think that way. Im also not a revolutionary, but it is useful to understand the tactics.

W&L is going to rue the day they let this class continue... and letting the professors and students dictate their policies. What happened to a president and board of trustees governing and guiding instead of "being taught"? This is all sooo 1960's/early 70's redux...Has the board or the president considered that they are participating in the "taking down of America"? Because that is what this is. We will never forget. Any successful parent who wishes success for their child should not be sending their child to W&L, a once great university with very successful graduates...and all round good guys. Alumnae-get busy and do something about this!

The Deep State needs to go. Far-left useful idiots may be helpful in achieving the end of the Deep State. The critical factor is what comes next. It cannot be the Bolshevism of the left. If the left is used to help remove the Deep State, then the left must be betrayed, discarded and neutralized in advance of the restoration of Freedom. The strategy would be similar to the neutralizing of the Trotskyites by the Stalinists after the Trotskyites assisted the Bolsheviks.

I wonder what happens if a student turned in an essay outlining the overthrow of the communist government in Venezuela? This course content depends on who is teaching it. Keeping it fair with ideas on how a once free people can rise up and overthrow a dictator might be useful here in a few years.

Why not have courses on how to plan a home invasion robbery, jack a car, rob a bank, rape women, cheat on exams, have an affair with your secretary, oust the college dean, embarrass the university, slander your professors...? Civil society does not teach classes on how to hurt, damage and destroy people and lawful institutions. Only a sick and perverse mind would not understand this.

#13, there is no such thing as "free" college. Or anything else, for that matter. Someone has to pay for teachers, maintenance (staff and physical plant), supplies such as books and computers, and various other expenses. And we all know who that someone is; US! The taxpayers. You and me and every other working soul, plus those who make money through investments, etc. I'm so sick of these idiots demanding free anything. Nothing is free! Except, maybe, the tv's and other stuff the rioters steal. But even there the insurance companies pay, I guess.

“This course places each student at the head of a popular revolutionary movement aiming to overthrow a sitting government and forge a better society,” And how would they do that? They have no idea of the sacrifices required to build their society. They have no idea how their society works. What qualifications do they have to even contemplate what a better society would look like? Except, of course, no white people.

Covid19 has already passed through all 50 states as a single major contagious wave in each state. There were 33 early states where the epidemic was over by June, and 14 late states where the epidemic now is ending. Every week in America about 51,000 people die from all causes. This number rises and falls during the winter due to flu-like illnesses and goes back to baseline in the summer. No one panics about it, and most people don’t even realize that it happens. This year was worse than normal, but we’ve almost returned to baseline.

Full Disclosure: I possess three degrees in Education, including a Ph.D. But it doesn’t take degrees in education, or any field for that matter, to know the difference between right and wrong. Now that I am homeschooling two elementary-school-aged family members (who are not my children) as their schools and surrounding districts have chosen to be locked down for no health-related reason, I have had a chance to see inside their Central-Ohio elementary school dynamic and watch their teachers in action, within an online environment. It’s increasingly clear that one-party polities are corrupt, badly managed and serve the interests only of those at the top and their courtiers. I think that if Biden and Harris win, the entire country will devolve to a kingdom of state and regional duchies composed of often semi-hereditary rulers in the pay of the rich, donor class, the clerisy (media scribblers, complaisant judicial appointees and academic rent seekers who promote favored policies and shut out the dissenters), an impoverished, smaller, and powerless middle class and a vast layer of muzzled, docile poor serfs. On Saturday, I watched football for the first time since February. The game was Arkansas State vs. Memphis. ESPN carried it. I was having a fine time watching a reasonably well played and closely contested game. But then, in the second quarter, the announcing team — Bob Wischusen and Dan Orlovsky — suddenly turned away from football to racial politics. The two began by saying how wonderful it is that college football players have become politically engaged. They commended the youngsters for trying to change America for the better. After too much of this, Wischusen and Orlovsky confessed, more or less to their white privilege.
