Carmen Best, the first Black police chief in Seattle's history, left her post Wednesday, saying on her way out that the city council's police budget cuts had put her in a "position destined to fail," according to a report.
Best, 55, announced her resignation Aug 10, after the council made good on its promise to approve sweeping proposals that would slash the police department budget by $4 million and cut as many as 100 officers from the force.
"I believe 100% that they were putting me in a position destined to fail. Cutting a police department that already had low staffing numbers, that was already struggling to keep up with the demand,

Had to do this a few times at work over the years. No one likes to be set up.

This is how leftists do BLM and systemic racism. The NFL and NBA are bowing to black athletes over thugs getting killed by cops; leftist city councils in Seattle hamstring the first black (and black female) police chief just trying to do her job. She'd better come on this side or her career is done.

Chief Best clearly is a person with principles. She quit rather than follow insane and dangerous policies. There are probably about 20 cities in the US whose police chiefs should consider the same principled action rather than simply going with the flow in order to keep their jobs and cushy pensions.
And it raises the question of what exactly are the VOTERS of these cities thinking? THEY are the ones ultimately responsible for voting in these crazy Marxist city councils. Seattle, is this what you really want for your families and for your childrens' future?

Good for her! She not only told them off, she helped out the people staying on the force by making a stand. Such a wonderful woman will find a good job somewhere.

I understand Houston Texas is hiring police from the failed cities cutting their police forces.

Maybe President Trump should hire her as private security.
Governor Cuomo just threatened Trump that he will need heavy security if he comes to New York,

Good luck Chief Best....I'm sure there are many cities that will call on you to consider a position with them...she is a principled woman and will be rewarded for her tireless efforts for Seattle... leaves me wondering.... who gets the 4 million that was taken from the police force?...the mayor?... some council member?...and after November 3rd... when President Trump wins and the rent a mob goons go away ... back to their own cities... what will happen to poor Seattle....

It would have been excellent had the outgoing chief stayed on and SPOKE UP about the city council which went so far to create the problems from which she has chosen to flee. Don't get me wrong, I do respect her and wish she were staying on, but only if she had been willing to take the next logical step and ARREST all of those rioting vandals (they are NOT demonstrators, rather they are rioters) who have wrought havoc in the city's streets.

I'm sure it was a very proud moment for her, and her family that she attained the position of Police Chief, and then things changed against her and essentially everyone in, or associated with, law enforcement.

If she was that good then she would have told Jenny that she was a dumbass hippie ditz and would have not allowed the CHAZ/CHOP nonsense and the looting - whatever it took to stop it.
