The Republican National Convention took to the virtual stage this week to accomplish what no one thought they could do: make a positive case for Donald Trump’s reelection to a beleaguered base. But accomplish it they did, largely because of an intentional choice in format and speakers that emphasized Trump’s working-class voters over the razzle-dazzle of Hollywood celebrities and ladder-climbing politicians. The showmanship and production skills of the Trump team combined with the compelling personal narratives of ordinary Americans resulted in a convention that echoed with cautious optimism, a defense of the American way of life, and genuine gratitude for the extraordinary country we have been given. But the convention also reflected

Trump's virtual convention made the democrats look like evil fools. Trump in 2020 for the good of our nation.

I certainly hope so.
IMO, Trump is a result of decades of corrupt, crooked, globalist men taking over the leadership of the Republican party and the Democrats, too. After Reagan, Bush, Sr., from the CIA, headed us in a bad direction. The next 30 years were heading towards globalism where, as Sundance so accurately points out, Wall Street took precedence over Main Street, and the American middle class was screwed over and destroyed for the convenience and enrichment of the international investment banking class and the political elites. McCain, Romney, Clinton and the Bushes all were far more interested in money for Wall Street, and only occasional gave a bit of lip service to Main Street.
Trump and his "back to the normal person being the point of the country" approach is a really good thing. But it has angered the tyrants in the globalist upper classes mightily and the hate by the corrupt Deep State politicians is so thick that you could walk on it. The left and other Deep Staters are likely funding these antifa thugs and BLM Marxist arsonists.
The country either goes back to being run for the benefit of average Americans or we are going to see blood in the streets. And apparently the Dem tyrants are willing to do it, and are paying for it now. I hope we can avoid it and have a peaceful return to 'normalcy' that was in the middle of the last century. Given the massive disinformation and propagandization of a generation of young people, it may not be possible.

#3 Been voting since Reagan for candidate closest to him (which were pathetic shadows), finally Trump nailed it, and is 10x smarter than the generation of Kristol-idiots that presented Jeb! & 10x more willing to take gloves off to fight as hard as democrats - to protect the American way of life as we all agreed to. Finally.

I doubt it. The GOP is majority Rockefeller-socialist and has the support of powerful socialist oligarchs i.e Chamber of Commerce.
When the President goes, the focus shuld be on de-funding and dismantling the GOP and replacing it with a party that is in true opposition to totalitarian socialism.
A scorched-earth policy might allow the Bolsheviks to burn down Democrat cities, and along with them the corporate oligarchs, then in the aftermath eliminate whatever remains of the GOP.

Well, in this house, we will never again vote for a GWBush, Romney or a McCain clone.
As much as I respect and appreciate Mike Pence, I don't think he can be our nominee in 2024 (assuming and hoping Trump is reelected), because he was not the strongest governor of Indiana. He folded on some LGBT nonsense and that is so establishment. I want another firebrand that fights the media and establishment and further drives them into the sea. There are a few that might fit the bill, but Donald Trump Jr. is first in my mind right now.

I agree with #6 on Mike Pence. I think he's a really good man. Unfortunately, I don't see him as a Fighter! I see someone more like Tom Cotton along with another Military Guy being a good Team to follow Trump. The Military guys, some who have fought and came home minus legs or arms, know what it means to actually fight for their country. I also think Jim Jordon would be a good VP pick. We need people who are fired up and ready to take over the fight to save this country. I don't think Mike Pence has enough fire to get that done!

Unfortunately, Trump is one-of-a-kind; especially since he’s not beholden to anyone financially. I echo the sentiments about Pence. He’s a good man, but just not a fighter.
I also like Don Jr. and Dan Bongino. Both have that same fight in them as PDT. It will be imperative to elect someone with that fighter mentality and who doesn’t care what anyone thinks.

No, no, no. The premise of the question is backwards. The real question is will the GOP endure Trumpism? LDotters, do you want to go back?

After President Trump, Rebooblicans will revert to playing Washington Generals for the Globetrotters, hands across the aisle. President Trump is one of a kind.

Rachel, let me help you out here. The real question is, can what's left of the GOP endure Trumpism? The answer is, no. A new GOP is in the works. The sooner the deadwood is weeded out, the better.

Trumpism is driving out the globalist pukes.
Just yesterday, Evil Tom Donahue took his evil money machine, the US Chamber of Commerce, over to the Demonrats. THAT is good news, ethically and morally, but Evil Tom controls a lot of cash.
How many fake conservative pundits have self-destructed?
How about a magazine that no longer exists because it went NeverTrump?
Trump has exposed LOTS and LOTS of evil, corrupt globalists (or made them expose themselves) an they will never be able to pretend again to be nice Republicans...."for the people". Permanent cleanout of many.
