Why I Am No Longer a Social Worker

It started one ordinary day, in one otherwise ordinary session: A beautiful young woman I had known for a few years wanted to cut off her breasts. (snip) So I told her. She had a long history of abuse, abandonment, and self-mutilation. Given that, I suggested, didn’t it seem like another aspect of self-hatred and rage? (snip) I urged her to take time to really consider all the ramifications (snip) For weeks afterward I found myself fighting off fears of being reported to the licensing board for not agreeing with her and realized, finally, that the whole profession had become a political platform.

Some social workers may be good, even great people. It was our misfortune to have one flaky woman assigned to us when we became foster parents for a brief while. She bragged how she had multiple abortions as if it was nothing more than getting a haircut. She advocated for the mixed-race children’s (we took in three siblings, 4, 5, and 7) criminal parents more than she worked for us. This experience soured us on continuing as foster parents and after six months, we gave it up. That ex-hippie “social” worker made all the difference.

32, I'm a retired professor who taught in a graduate program in the area of Human Resource Management. Over my 20 years of teaching in that program, and recruiting students for it, I found lots of social workers who were burned out at the ten year mark of their social work career. Those students did well in making the transition to the real world. and they were still able to do their 'good works' with employees. You might want to consider HRM.

What a horrible story this woman tells about one of her 'clients'. Don't these social workers tell the police about abuse of some of these kids anymore? Could it be that the abuser made a big thing about the girl's breasts and the girl wanted to remove that focus from future abusers? Instead of helping the girl, sounds like the system failed her miserably. Back in the 90's I spent about 6 months as a temp office worker and I witnessed what those folks have to deal with. Dealing with the dregs of society turns these folks into chain smoking, burned out husks after awhile. I know we all hear horror stories, but if it is too much these people need to find other employment instead of failing the kids.

That's a sad story. People who are hurt, confused, and angry are not given the tools needed to improve their lives. Most government programs seem to be designed to create life-long Democrat voters.

I did seven years hard time as a program analyst for my county's Socialist Services. I knew going in that the place would be majority Leftist, but I had no idea how insidious were their methods. They would target conservative social workers with punishment transfers. The issue of contention revolved around denying benefits. The conservative SW would take a person off a program when they no longer met qualifications, because the program had helped them. However, the majority of SW are so "progressive" that qualifications were only necessary for enrollment; once a person is on a program it becomes their "right". So when the conservative SW would remove a person from the rolls, the "client" would file an appeal to the county. The county had to pay for the arbitration and that was a budget item with money that could be used "elsewhere for more benefit". The conservative SW cost them money...so suddenly their skills and experience were needed in the office the farthest from their home. They always praise and compliment their victims as the shiv is plunged into their backs. I watched it happen to a dozen good SW over seven years and finally it was my turn. I asked too many obvious questions in meetings and failed to give the proper responses at "diversity" training. I also displayed a crucifix in my office. They started "cancelling" me. One day I went to lunch and never went back. Its been 13 years now and I still flip off the building driving by when we're down in the county seat. The Left have rejected God and now worship themselves. Anything that can be possibly conceived by sinful man is turned into the greatest good and virtue to be enabled and celebrated. Our society and culture have been under attack for 60+ years. The infiltrators have become the arbiters of who and what is approved for thought and deed. They are anti-God and anti-Life. They cannot build so they choose to destroy, and destroying people is their favorite sport. This was our destiny, but no more. God put Donald J. Trump in the on-deck circle and in June 2015 He gave Trump the signal to "swing away!" Supported by God-loving patriots he honestly and handily defeated Satan's prom date. Evil has thrown everything impossible and improbable at The Donald for four years and yet he stands. He stands because behind him are standing tens of millions of patriots with our ranks growing. Let us storm heaven with our prayers and supplications that the Holy Spirit renews the face of our country. God is at work in the world and President Trump is His champion. In 1978 and armed with a BA in Psychology, I (as a male) applied to the Social work Department of Cal State Univ Sacramento. I flunked the interview mostly because I did not hate men. So much for the MSW. I walked across the street and was admitted to an MS program in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. It was a high point my life to assist handicapped people learn new skills and go back to work and pay income tax rather than collect SSDI or SSI. I had that job for over 20 years.

Last night provided more evidence that Tucker Carlson is the most important political commentator of the current crisis. Ankle biting critics, jealous of his status as host of the eponymous top-rated cable news show, seized upon perfectly reasonable comments he made on Wednesday’s edition of his show and launched a campaign to boycott his advertisers (they are close forcing me to buy one of Mike Lindell’s pillows) and thereby pressure Fox News into cancelling him. In recent weeks, not only have we seen some very large holes punched in the narrative of what happened to George Floyd, but we’ve also seen the very thin veil come off, as the “peaceful protests” by Black Lives Matter and Antifa rapidly devolved into perhaps the worst string of violent riots the country has ever seen. What planet does Joe Biden live on? In his campaign for president, he's promised more lockdowns if the "experts" tell him to do it, maybe permanent lockdown, lockdown as a lifestyle, which means shutting down the entire country. It's bizarre stuff given that it's already been done, with plenty of unintended consequences. It's a supposed leadership redo of President Trump's supposedly bad leadership on COVID. This, according to Joe, is how one really does it, so rewind the reel to March 2020 and let him start the lockdowns from there as if nothing had at all changed (snip) the call of someone still living in March 2020, embedded in amber

he second night of the Republican convention has come and gone (and very successfully too) but what should live forever is the article the New York Times wrote about the line-up of speakers for the evening. It is a triumph of misdirection and fraud by omission. It may well be the most perfect example ever of how the media functions, not to inform, but to mislead. The article, entitled “How to Watch the Republican National Convention,” gives practical advice about how to find the convention on the internet and television. On August 20th, President Trump’s former Chief Strategist Steve Bannon was arrested on fraud charges relating to the “We Build the Wall” construction project on the U.S.-Mexico border. The news made for splashy headlines, but story behind the charges was more mundane. Brian Kolfage, a triple amputee veteran and Purple Heart recipient, used a crowdfunding website as part of a political gag aimed at raising $1 billion dollars to construct a U.S.-Mexico border wall. After unexpectedly raising $17 million dollars within the first week, Kolfage decided to hand off the suddenly real and ambitious initiative to someone with more experience, connections, and resources. One of the most revolting things about Joe Biden’s candidacy is his dishonest insistence that Donald Trump called white supremacists “fine people.” Democrats have successfully used this hoax to brainwash large parts of the American public into believing that Trump and his supporters are racists and anti-Semites. I can’t remember a wildcat strike ever happening by a pro sports team, let alone an entire league, let alone during the playoffs. California’s popular Squaw Valley Ski Resort will change its name because the word “squaw” is a derogatory term for Native American women, officials announced Tuesday. The word “squaw,” derived from the Algonquin language, may have once simply meant “woman.” But over generations, the word morphed into a misogynist and racist term to disparage Indigenous women.
