A U.S. Air Force helicopter had to make an emergency landing in Virginia Monday after a person had shot at the aircraft and injured a crew member.
The UH-1N Huey helicopter was conducting a routine training flight before it was forced to land at an airport in Virginia, McClatchy reported. The aircraft is assigned to the 1st Helicopter Squadron at Joint Base Andrews, where presidential aircraft Air Force One is housed. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking into the incident and said it “dispatched Special Agents and its Evidence Response Team to the Manassas Airport after receiving reports that a helicopter

Pilots use different tactics in a war zone. Maybe its time to scrap the home base stuff and go full Afghanistan.

I flew UH-2's (D's and E's) in the early '70's (originally a 1950's design) The "joke" was not about a 'golden bullet' but the golden BB that would could bring us down if it hit the right part - the Huey's are supposed to be a bit more robust but any helicopter has too many critical moving parts that anything out of balance would cause it to shake to no longer "parts flying in close formation" but parts flying anywhere!

These type of incidents are only going to become more common and become worse until a life is lost. It is time for authorities to get serious and start using what is at their disposal to stop this nonsense -- to include live ammo if necessary. The revolving door in Democrat states and cities just embolden idiots like this.

I hope they find the perp! Probably some little out-of-school asshat with daddy's gun while dad is at work in DC. If it is a Gov employee, may they die a slow and painful death. If it is a kid with a gun or a laser, same thing!

Sounds trite, but with the loosening of morals, we have gone from 'sighting in' a helo to actually pulling the trigger. The only way to swing the pendulum back is to come down hard and fast. If they can track and nail a laser tagger on acft, this should be a no brainer. I don't expect it to be a radical, just a moron who doesn't realize the consequences.

With Dem politicians egging on the Soros-funded leftist violence, we're gonna see a lot more of this. Especially beginning in October.

I agree with #1, it could be a dry run. I have faith that the Air Force will find who did it and nail his sorry rear end to a prison cell for a good number of years!

What in the H is happening to our country. People attack and shoot policemen, they burn and destroy government buildings, with no consequence and now they are firing on the military. At no time in my life would anyone, individual or group, get away with this anarchy. It is way past time for some federal prison time be handed out.

This was a training exercise using Vietnam era Huey helicopters. I thought they had decommissioned those birds, but maybe these were National Guard copters being used by the Air Force. The copters were flying over the Communist section of Virginia/Northern Virginia, so those peace loving protesters were just exercising their right to protest peacefully.
