A U.S. Air Force helicopter had to make an emergency landing in Virginia Monday after a person had shot at the aircraft and injured a crew member. The UH-1N Huey helicopter was conducting a routine training flight before it was forced to land at an airport in Virginia, McClatchy reported. The aircraft is assigned to the 1st Helicopter Squadron at Joint Base Andrews, where presidential aircraft Air Force One is housed. I flew UH-2's (D's and E's) in the early '70's (originally a 1950's design) The "joke" was not about a 'golden bullet' but the golden BB that would could bring us down if it hit the right part - the Huey's are supposed to be a bit more robust but any helicopter has too many critical moving parts that anything out of balance would cause it to shake to no longer "parts flying in close formation" but parts flying anywhere!

These type of incidents are only going to become more common and become worse until a life is lost. It is time for authorities to get serious and start using what is at their disposal to stop this nonsense -- to include live ammo if necessary. The revolving door in Democrat states and cities just embolden idiots like this.

Sounds trite, but with the loosening of morals, we have gone from 'sighting in' a helo to actually pulling the trigger. The only way to swing the pendulum back is to come down hard and fast. If they can track and nail a laser tagger on acft, this should be a no brainer. I don't expect it to be a radical, just a moron who doesn't realize the consequences.

This was a training exercise using Vietnam era Huey helicopters. I thought they had decommissioned those birds, but maybe these were National Guard copters being used by the Air Force. The copters were flying over the Communist section of Virginia/Northern Virginia, so those peace loving protesters were just exercising their right to protest peacefully.

A federal appeals court in New Orleans on Thursday ruled that the all-male military draft system is constitutional, pointing to a 1981 decision by the U.S. Supreme Court. The case, which was argued in March, stemmed from a lawsuit filed by two men with the National Coalition for Men who had challenged the historic male-only draft. They had argued that the 1981 case was outdated and was ruled on when women were not as involved in combat as many are today. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rule that “only the Supreme Court may revise its precedent.”

Revelations last week that this spring’s $576 million unemployment fraud, the largest in state history, started much earlier than previously acknowledged have spurred a storm of new questions over the handling of the crime. Data released Aug. 3 by the state Employment Security Department (ESD) shows that criminals were filing fake claims in the first week of March. That’s more than two months before ESD publicly disclosed the fraud and temporarily froze benefit payments, in mid-May, by which time a staggering 56% of the weekly claims ESD was paying were from criminals, many of them reportedly overseas.

President Trump continues to be his own worst enemy: On Thursday, he stooped to calling presumptive vice-presidential nominee Kamala Harris a “mad woman.” That doesn’t promote his agenda. It doesn’t help him with women. It doesn’t shore up his image as worthy of the nation’s highest office. It’s just, as Trump would say, mean and nasty. Sure, Harris isn’t the first target of Trump’s ad hominem attacks or over-the-top language. But making everything personal is unbecoming. It turns off voters who like his policies but dislike his rhetoric.
