A mad rush for the exits
as New York City

It’s not just a few Upper West Siders who are fleeing New York: Moving companies say they’re swamped with calls from residents looking to ditch the city — even though the COVID crisis has waned. One likely reason: The virus was but the last straw; New Yorkers are fed up with the shootings and lootings, homelessness on the streets, sub-par online schools, sky-high taxes and the sheer obliviousness of pols like Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo. On Sunday, The Post highlighted families who’ve given up on the Upper West Side — now teeming with junkies, the homeless, convicts and others — and are headed for greener pastures outside Gotham.

We're seeing WAY too many New York license plates lately in, of all places, eastern Oklahoma. PLEASE don't come here with your Marxist voting records. There are copper heads, water moccasins, scorpions, tarantulas, wild boars, brown panthers (for Rio Lindans, that would be the actual animal), coyotes, bobcats, builders who can't get building materials, tornadoes, 80 mile an hour straight line winds, plenty of Walmartians, gravel roads that destroy sedan tires in a month, poor soil, and lots of people with missing teeth. It's Third World, worse than the BLM riots. Go somewhere else like Dallas. They're as pretentious as Los Angeles only with cowboy boots and barbecue sauce. You'll love Dallas.

Who wants to live in a place where you can't walk down the street to the corner store for a paper, without getting mugged or assaulted by homeless beggars? Especially at night. Having to stay inside, behind locked doors, with fear of venturing outside, is no way to live. Even more so when you can't legally protect yourself with a gun! After it became clear that the very contagious Chinese COVID virus had targeted New York City first, New York City residents with the wherewithal to do so pretty much left New York City, while some of them stayed in nearby cities and towns where they had residences, a big majority headed for Florida where New York City residents usually turn up to escape the cold winter months. Others traveled all over the USA and that’s why people are seeing so many New York license plates in far away places, and why the China COVID virus was able to rapidly spread across the USA.

#6, please don't tell them to move to Dallas! Leftists have already ruined Dallas. We had to sell our house at a substantial loss 10 years ago to get away from their policies that turned our neighborhood into a homeless camp. We're in the suburbs, but they're spilling over and ruining the whole county and DFW Metroplex now. And don't even get me started on what they've done to Houston, San Antonio and (shudder!) Austin. Quit trying to "turn Texas blue." Just stay in your own garbage holes and turn blue yourselves. As for NYC, I'm glad my two young nieces got to see it a few years ago before DeBlasio and Cuomo destroyed it. I lived nearby in the late '80s and remember having to step over all the homeless bums in the reeking Grand Central Station. A drug dealer approached me on 42nd St. shaking a pill bottle like a maraca in broad daylight and loudly asking, "Hey, dude, wanna buy some crack?!" not even caring if any cops overheard. I thought then that Dinkins was the worst mayor in history, but at least he had the excuse of inheriting a sewer and only making it worse. DeBlasio inherited a successful city that Giuliani miraculously rescued and in the space of only a few short years, turned it back into a hellhole. Dinkins taught him well. The student has surpassed the master.

Seven people, all from different households, not only gathered for Thanksgiving but distributed to the media pictorial evidence of them flouting mask mandates and social distancing edicts. No governor yet claims jurisdiction over the International Space Station but the astronauts have a lot of explaining to do when they return to earth. It’s not as though they lacked for space. Governors ordering around people 250 miles above their states seems far-fetched. But so, too, did the notion of governors usurping the role of legislatures. Eight months after the initial coronavirus lockdowns, citizens docilely accept the idea of a single person dictating the laws that govern millions of people.

Will Joe Biden and his foreign-policy team accept the extraordinary gift Team Trump is leaving for them under the Christmas tree — or is their hatred for the president so all-consuming that they will toss it in the garbage? I’m talking about the Abraham Accords, peace deals between Israel and various Arab states — the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan — that have sought the Jewish state’s destruction since its founding in 1948. Normalization has proceeded so quickly, Dubai already has a kosher restaurant, and its supermarkets are stocking Israeli agricultural products festooned with Stars of David — a science-fictional sight only a year ago.

The practice of democracy in our constitutional republic flourishes in the presence of contradictions. Democracy, itself, is bound by our inalienable rights, bestowed to us by our Creator. These rights, not given to us by our government by any majority or by any vote, cannot be rescinded, for they were not wrought by man. Voting is a contradiction for it is both public and private at the same time. Its process is intended to be secret, but transparent. Its agency is intensely partisan, but its effect is intended to be unifying. The legitimacy of voting must survive despite the contradictions intrinsic to the process.

Will Judge Emmett Sullivan accept President Trump’s pardon of General Michael Flynn? No one has suggested that possibility, other than The New York Sun. The general’s case, though, has become a bonfire of the vanities of one district judge who has denied the presumption of regularity to an official act of the United States government — meaning Attorney General William Barr’s attempt to drop the case. So why would Judge Sullivan credit President Trump’s workaround of a pardon? We understand, the pardon could be the least fettered of all the powers that the Constitution grants to the president.

Many conservatives have moved their social-media accounts to the more freewheeling Parler, and often have slammed the supposedly monopolistic Facebook and Twitter as they’ve decamped from those sites. I have chuckled at some of their overheated parting rhetoric — especially the widespread misunderstanding about the meaning of the word “monopoly.” A monopoly is, as the Oxford dictionary explains, “the exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service.” Quite obviously, if one stops doing business with a company and heads over to its competitor, then the previous company is not by definition in exclusive possession or control of a service.

There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred.
