For years, Bryant Park Grill & Cafe in Midtown Manhattan has been one of the country’s top-grossing restaurants, the star property in Ark Restaurants’ portfolio of 20 restaurants across the United States.
But what propelled it to the top has vanished.
The tourists are gone, the office towers surrounding it are largely empty and the restaurant’s 1,000-seat dining room is closed. Instead, dinner is cooked and served on its patio, and the scaled-down restaurant brings in about $12,000 a day — an 85 percent plunge in revenue, its chief executive said.

LEAVE!!! Why stay in a city that doesn’t support your business, get looted without Police protection, while your mayor rubs elbows with the BLM

Why would any business stay in a location where they cannot make any money? AND risk being trashed at the whim of the MOB.

Being the Times, they don't mention the skyrocketing crime rate of course. Not only are the restaurants closed but it's become increasingly unsafe to walk the streets. NYC may come back but it will take decades to do so. The city is also technically bankrupt and begging for the taxpayers in the better run states to bail them out.

All dem cities and states are being sacrificed to Socialism and dying. All people that live there and can get out, DO get out. The governments keep raising taxes to compensate which accelerates the cycle. Dems have the philosophy that they can set policy to whatever they want, spend whatever they want, tax at any level they want. It is and always has been insanity. The only way they can get away with it would be if everything on the planet were under their control and no one could escape them. Thus the attraction of Globalization that effectively supplants and supersedes government.
The sad thing is, even that wouldn't work because minus the incentives of relative reward for efforts and accomplishment, effort declines and productivity slumps. You can live under Socialism but you will live in misery. Great leaps in inventions and capability are far less common without rewards given for risks taken and effort made. No matter how many times this is proven, Socialists reject reality because it robs them of power and control. An independent people is an anathema to Socialism.

Why isn't New York open? They are well past the curve and are only reporting a few deaths each day, statewide.

Looks like it was a lovely place. So sorry to hear this. But I don't think any of the liberals who voted for the democrat politicians in the town care much about what I think.

Of all the places to ruin, NYC!! Hate it or love it, the place knows how to make money-and the Democrats have used it as a bottomless piggybank. But it looks like they broke the piggybank. How STUPID.

It was a nicer time back when "Escape from New York" was a fanciful movie, not a plan of action for today.

NYC is and will continue to be a ghost town inhabited by the homeless, criminals, and those unable to afford to move out. Liberals will cry and wail "what happened to our city, how did this happen?" They will be oblivious to the fact that their own policies and actions caused the post apocalyptic destruction and emptiness of the city.

Another 6 weeks and it will be a soup kitchen for the homelessers living in Manhattan's luxury hotels. All of this of course compliments of NYC property owners who are thrilled to help out.

It is difficult to get to concerned about this unless you happen to live someplace these fools might move to. I am watching the same thing happen in my small city. It was at one time a nice safe place to live and work with a good quality of life. Over the past few years there has been an influx of people trying to escape the hell holes they lived in. Initially things were not too bad but now as these new comers start to vote in people they believe have their interest at because they look like them it is turning into what they tried to escape from and they are shocked.
Unfortunately you see this over and over again. Look at NV or VA. N.C. will be next

It will be the same for the current “Miserable Mile” in what used to be the Chicago downtown shopping district. Business can never successfully operate where “the community” believes they have a skin given right to burn down business buildings, and loot the merchandise from businesses, with the police not able to protect the businesses because of political interference, and far left Country Attorneys refusing to file criminal charges against those criminal elements. Businesses who are smart will relocate to more friendly environs.

It's a shame we can't withhold voting privileges from these liberal escapees, for at least 10 years, until they assimilate and start thinking sensibly.
