Bold crook on Citi Bike robs
13-year-old son of NYPD anti-

A crook on a Citi Bike robbed the 13-year-old son of the NYPD’s anti-terror czar in a daring daylight heist on the edge of Central Park, officials said Tuesday. Cops released a surveillance image of a suspect in the Monday afternoon robbery on Central Park West near W. 91st St. in the hopes that someone recognizes him. The victim is the son of NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence & Counterterrorism John Miller. The mugger rolled up on the Citi Bike and snatched the teen’s iPhone XS Max and wallet, which contained $100, before pedaling off down the street about 1:45 p.m.,

Comments:

It all comes down to how one defines "terror." Is it concern over possible attacks by devout Muslims imported by our own State Department under the guise of refugee settlement and Diversity, or is it the far more likely possibility of being attacked on the street by graduates of the revolving door of criminal injustice? Both represent complete failures of government, and many people make a good living pretending to do something about it while the rest of us roll the dice and hope we stay safe.

Yeah, every NYC junior high schooler has $100 in his wallet. I remember when two bucks bought school lunch for a week and two ice cream sandwiches...with a nickel left over for discretionary spending. Daring heist...robbing a kid. If his dad were anyone else, no news.

Unless also stolen, the credit card he used to rent the Citi Bike should likely lead to identifying the perp as well.

#2, the way I see it, when ordinary NYC street cops make upwards of $200K a year, how much would a Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence & Counterterrorism make? $500K, $600K, more? A hundred bucks is like 10 cents to such people.

Most ‘kids’ today have expensive phones, tablets, laptops, sneakers...etc. Spoiled rotten, sadly, and a big part of our problems in this country. My son had a cheap flip phone (my old one) in high school simply for use in emergencies or to call for pickup after football practice. He hated it but didn’t have funds for a fancy one—impetus for him to get a job! He had to buy his own car, too...a 20 year old junky Honda. He hated that, too...but now at 26 he has an amazing job (right out of college 4 years ago) and understands the value of working for things he wants. I know...how odd! LOL. But, just because this kid was spoiled doesn’t mean he deserved to be robbed. Painful lesson, I presume. Make like Snake Plissken and get outta NY, people!

Some members of the African American community say racism prompted Seattle's first Black female police chief to retire. They are blaming one of Seattle's most diverse city councils ever. They point out there are no Black people on the City Council for the first time since the 1960s. And they believe racism forced Carmen Best to leave her job as the city's top cop. Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best wouldn't call out the Seattle City Council. "Yeah, I'm not using that harsh word," she said. Neither would Mayor Jenny Durkan, her boss. "They wanted to micromanage and play mini-police chief," was all Durkan

Revelations last week that this spring’s $576 million unemployment fraud, the largest in state history, started much earlier than previously acknowledged have spurred a storm of new questions over the handling of the crime. Data released Aug. 3 by the state Employment Security Department (ESD) shows that criminals were filing fake claims in the first week of March. That’s more than two months before ESD publicly disclosed the fraud and temporarily froze benefit payments, in mid-May, by which time a staggering 56% of the weekly claims ESD was paying were from criminals, many of them reportedly overseas.

The new 20th Television logo will debut in new seasons of The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad and Bob's Burgers, among others. A recent landmark poll of 20,000 citizens undertaken by the Knight Foundation and Gallup found that Americans’ hope for and trust in an objective media is all but lost. They see not only an ever-growing partisanship in news reporting but a determination by the mainstream media to push a political agenda instead of honestly disseminating the news. While generic faith in the media has been gradually declining over recent decades, the precipitous drop in trust and questions about what motivates the mainstream media can be traced to June 2015 and Donald Trump’s entry into the presidential sweepstakes.

She’s already been attacked by right-wing commenters, and called ‘nasty’ by the President.
