John Durham set to interview John Brennan: Report

U.S. Attorney John Durham will soon interview former CIA Director John Brennan, another sign that the investigation of the Trump-Russia investigators is ready to wrap up by the end of the summer. Durham, the federal prosecutor from Connecticut appointed by Attorney General William Barr to investigate the origins of the Crossfire Hurricane inquiry and to scrutinize the conduct of the law enforcement leaders and intelligence officials involved in it, has asked to interview Brennan, according to “people familiar with the request” cited by NBC News, and the former top spy and vociferous Trump critic has reportedly agreed to the sit-down.

#2 Was there a time that you actually thought there would be an investigation with integrity and for the betterment of America....Not a chance. When there are coverup artists like Wray and Barr, whose best friend is the criminal Bob Mueller, in charge.....Admittedly Barr puts on a good show but a show is for tv, we need real justice, real action, retribution to act as a deterrent for future Democrat treasons. I guess we can hope.....

What a load of crap. This stinks to high heavens. So if this is a criminal investigation and Brennan could be charged with some felony offenses, shouldn't Brennan's "interview" with Durham be happening in a courtroom under oath in front of a judge and jury? Or has Brennan already been granted immunity from prosecution? But, on the other hand, isn't this how they set up Gen. Flynn?

This sounds logical to me. Don't the biggest fish get deposed last, after gathering documentation and testimony from those lower on the food chain first? Brennan will be asked questions that Durham already knows the answers to.

Have feeling that Durham, like Wray, Huber and Rosenstein are all Soros loyalists. And the the only question of substance for Brennan will be “Would you like to have dinner with my wife and I this weekend”. Obama, Brennan. Comey and dozens of others involved in the coup will all grow richer while Flynn, Stone, Papadopoulus grow poorer. Or, Trump supporters lives don’t matter.

Good comments and I can agree with both sides. The optimist in me wants to believe that Durham is bringing Brennan in to allow him to decide to cooperate or not. However, my cynicism whispers In my ear that this has the potential to be a total disappointment. While I do believe President Trump and a few Republicans are interested in bringing a case against those individuals who conspired to interfere in an election and then when they did not get the outcome they desired, further conspired to unseat a duly elected President. However, the rest of Washington is not. The troubling reality is the total lack of government willingness to police itself. Even during the Trump administration FBI Director Wray has declined to release documents pertinent to this investigation. How are we ever to see justice served if the highest law enforcement agency in the country will not cooperate? This does not bode well if the goal is justice. Another example, that rogue Judge Sullivan who refuses to grant a Motion to Dismiss by the prosecution in the Flynn case. Tell me with a straight face that decision is driven by a pursuit of justice. We all know it is nothing but political shenanigans with zero legal basis and yet, very very few speak out against this Judge in his attempt to undermine the job of the prosecution. The judiciary is a joke in that town. I believe that there is more riding on Durham’s investigation than ever anticipated. The American people are extremely invested In the outcome of this investigation for we will learn once and for all if our justice system is irrevocably broken. Too much evidence has been released in the public square and people are informed. The documentation is damning and we are anticipating that our government will come through and put justice above the status of those involved. They must be treated equally under the law along with the founding principle that no one is above the law, no one. Right now we stand facing the ultimate test of those two truths. Either our founding principles will be upheld and justice will prevail or we will know that there is, indeed, a two tiered system in the country where the ruling class is treated very differently than the country class. The outcome of this investigation is monumental in that we will know without a doubt if our government is corrupt and beyond repair. It all boils down if the men tasked to uphold the Constitution and Rule of Law have the integrity and determination to do so. I pray that they do.

#19 wins post of the day! If there are no indictments than there needs to be a nationwide call to disband the DBI and DOJ. The American people know what happened. If no one faces prosecution, it is time for all of them to go. Create new organizations to accomplish the goals and don't hire a single person from the existing FBI or DOJ.

As noted above, you interview the prime players last, AFTER you have the facts developed by investigation and interviews of underlings. What are you going to ask them with no facts developed? Their favorite colors? You walk them through the "crime" and get more facts, or lies - to square with what you know, or not. Note to Barr and Durham: Skip the "Report". We are already quite aware of the criminal conspiracy to take down our duly elected President. Reports and hearings are the DC way of slow-walking and sweeping this conspiracy under the rug. The more crimes to discuss, the longer they can hide the ball. We need indictments NOW. There is no requirement to finish the investigation before issuing indictments. (Re. Muehler Investigation.)

Well, you always wait to interview those at the top of the matter, after you've gathered tons of other information, and have had people flip. Brennan is already on record, via the House Intelligence Committee hearings, as stating there was NO Russian collusion. He'll need to explain why he did what he did, and what predicate he had to initiate the scheme. Remember, if you want to truly get to the bottom of all of these things, vote in massive numbers to elect every Republican on every ballot. Get them the House Majority, and add to the Senate numbers, along with maintaining the White House. Don't let one issue or two make you stop or pause either. With the Majority they can ensure no one covers it up, they can resolve the matters, and also make sure the trade deals are followed through on.

I have a real problem with the notion that it is up to the target whether or not he has to sit for an interview. If they are as corrupt and crooked as Durham thinks they are, there should be no option other than 'you will sit for the interview or we will throw you into jail based on the evidence we already have'. That is how it should be, not giving the chance to dither and drag this out. The nation is tired of this game playing, and we want action.

Yes, the biggest fish are always interviewed/deposed/interrogated last. Deals have likely been made with smaller fish (like Sally Yates--ugh) in return for testimony against Brennan. He will be brought in, will invoke his Fifth Amendment rights, and will give little info other than his name and date of birth, etc. But Durham will be pushing all sorts of incriminating evidence in front of Brennan and his attorneys, asking Brennan to respond to each bit of such evidence. This evidence will include sworn statements from the little fish. Brennan will feel the heat as he repeatedly invokes the 5th and sees who has rolled over against him. Since there's no way they'll be going after Obie, Brennan is unlikely to roll over on anyone higher up the food chain, except--perhaps--Val Jarrett, but Brennan is likely higher on the chain than she is. This won't be a fun day for Brennan. At least he's paying upwards of $1,000/hour for his attorneys to sit there and repeatedly advise him to take the 5th. On the other hand, loads of multi-millionaire donor insiders (e.g., Hollywood) have likely ponied up to pay Brennan's attorneys' fees.

In cases like this you generally interview your targets last after you have gathered all your evidence. You set a perjury trap that way as well. You need to know as much of the story as possible when you start questioning him and have actual charges in mind. Remember the goal is to get him to incriminate himself wittingly or unwittingly.

BTW taking the fifth in these interviews probably not a good idea. Brennan and his lawyers are going to want to know if he will be charged and what with. Durham does not have to lay out his case if Brennan is going to be a hard ass and not deal at all. If big John and his lawyer want to wait for the indictment and discovery to see Durhams hand that is their privilege but if I were him or his lawyer I'd want at least a look at what I am up against and a chance to possibly deal.

Hillary Clinton leveled a jocular broadside against New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd on Saturday, pointing out that the writer appeared to forget wholesale that Clinton chose a man to run as her vice president during the 2016 election. Writing on the 1984 vice presidential candidacy of Geraldine Ferraro ahead of Joe Biden's announcement of a female running mate, Dowd in a Saturday column wrote that it had been "36 years since a man and a woman ran together on a Democratic Party ticket." That claim ignored the 2016 presidential election,

Only part of the dramatic racial differences in age-adjusted COVID-19 death rates can be explained by racial differences. The remainder reflects a substantially lower black survival rate because, we are told, of poverty and inadequate access to healthcare. Once taking into account Latino outcomes, however, these factors alone are unlikely to explain the lower black survival rate. Why are the outcomes for Latinos so much better than for black Americans? There is no comprehensive national measure of cases by race and ethnicity. The CDC has estimates for only 57 percent of national cases. Using these partial estimates, together with population data,

Coming soon to a screen near you is an intriguing and creative new film documentary on Donald Trump, and yours truly and The American Spectator is here offering the first glimpse, courtesy of the talented filmmaker, Robert Orlando. The film is calledCitizen Trump, inspired, yes, by Citizen Kane. Here’s the parallel that Orlando plays out: In 1941, the story of a powerful, larger-than-life, media-driven business tycoon would emerge on the silver screen in a groundbreaking film. The film was a morality tale of the mogul’s bid for high office. The story was Citizen Kane, and the real-life portrait captured in the film was that of William Randolph Hearst.

Florida’s hanging chads from the 2000 Bush vs Gore contest will look like a walk in the park compared to what it will take to declare a winner this year. COVID-19 has completely upended how votes are cast and counted. It is inevitable that in competitive states such as Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania delays will happen in getting to the final tally. This is why it is so critical that election officials, starting with Secretaries of State, make it convenient to vote and put in place proper safeguards from the start.

At first glance, Joe Biden's strategy of avoiding the spotlight is paying off. He maintains his consistent lead over Donald Trump in national polls. The critical swing states of Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Florida are trending his way. His lead gives him the freedom to mollify the progressive wing of his party by shifting leftward on policy. (Snip)There is no question that President Trump is in trouble. But look again at the polls.

SALT LAKE CITY – Some Black Lives Matter protesters in Salt Lake City could face up to life in prison if they’re convicted of splashing red paint and smashing windows during a protest, a potential punishment that stands out among demonstrators arrested around the country and one that critics say doesn’t fit the alleged crime. The felony criminal mischief charges are more serious because they carry a gang enhancement. Prosecutors said Wednesday that’s justified because the protesters worked together to cause thousands of dollars in damage, but watchdogs called the use of the 1990s-era law troubling, especially in the context of criminal justice reform and minority communities.

Soot darkens the letters on the sign for 7 Mile Fashion, months after rioters torched the Lake Street shopping center where it stands. The store that thrived for 24 years is now a mass of debris. The buildings on either side are boarded, the ruins cordoned off by a chain-link fence. The Ahn family that owns 7 Mile Fashion estimates they lost $2.5 million here and at two other stores attacked on Nicollet Avenue and W. Broadway. Yet insurance will cover just $600,000 because they had not updated their policy in many years.(Snip) More than half of 421 small businesses applying

Sen. Amy Klobuchar sent a letter Friday urging the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to plan for a possible outbreak of a rare, polio-like illness that mostly affects children. It's called acute flaccid myelitis, or AFM. Larey Swanson's son was diagnosed with AFM back in September of 2014 (snip) “Our family, along with several other families who have kids affected by AFM met with Klobuchar at Children's Hospital, and we emphasized for the need for mandatory reporting at the CDC. And at the time, she was very responsive,”

The Seattle City Council voted unanimously on Wednesday in support of police budget proposals that would lay off 100 police officers, despite objections from the city's mayor and police chief. The city council began to reexamine the police department's budget earlier this summer in response to anti-police protests. Mayor Jenny Durkan (D.) and police chief Carmen Best criticized the most recent set of proposals, which would also end the removal of homeless people from the city's streets and cut salaries for police leadership. Durkan said the cuts would hit the "most diverse class" of officers the city has ever had, as police union rules mandate that layoffs are determined by seniority.

Comedian Bill Maher argued that evidence shows “it’s possible” former President Bill Clinton visited convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s sex island where underage girls were offered up to his rich and powerful friends.Speaking with former Clinton White House adviser Paul Begala on his HBO show “Real Time,” Maher discussed the recently unsealed court documents showing that alleged Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre claims to have witnessed Bill Clinton at the island, and that “two young girls” were there also, though the former president’s spokesperson has denied the accusation.

Whether he’s studied them or not, President Trump is a master at cutting leftists down using the Rules for Radicals that Saul Alinsky drafted to help further a leftist agenda. At a press conference at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, Trump showed his mastery of Rule 4 (“Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules”), Rule 5 (“Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon”), and Rule 6 (“A good tactic is one your people enjoy”). As Biden rode by a press gaggle, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked Biden if he had chosen a running mate. Biden said, “Yeah, I have.” Doocy asked who it was and as Biden pedaled close to Doocy he looked at him and said, “You!” (Photos) (Tweet/Video): Biden campaign spokesman T.J. An opinion piece published in The New York Times on Saturday that incorrectly asserted it has "been 36 years since a man and woman ran together [in a presidential election] on a Democratic Party ticket" was immediately panned on Twitter, prompting The Times to delete its tweet and correct the column. The article, written by Opinion Columnist Maureen Dowd, is titled "No Wrist Corsages, Please" and asks the question, "Has America grown since 1984, or will the knives still be out for [Joe] Biden’s running mate?" "It’s hard to fathom, but it has been 36 years since a man and
